I have seen the podcast, but am too lazy to watch it. But I go watch am this weekend, during my long runs with headphones. I like that Mr. Jordan is talking more about politics these days, but I can see how his opinion is shaped by western narratives such as designating it as a ''totalitarian regime'', and confronting China as an enemy. I can see how no matter how smart an individual is, his worldview is always shaped by the information they have access to.
Any individual that lives under the web of western hegemony must actively try to seek alternative news, otherwise, you will think a certain way without even knowing it, and yes, Nigeria is under the web of western hegemony. Yes, it's true. I think lots of parents need to know how to be a good parent. Lots of parents practice something known as "helicopter parenting". They never allow their kids to be truly independent, and protect them up to a point of handicapping them. It's dangerous.
While growing up, my father never tolerated any weakness in any of us. Would you blame him? He was a military man, and as far as he is concerned, you must level up.
When all of us finished high school, he pushed us to go learn work. As I de so, I cook like mad. I worked in a restaurant for years until I entered university. I wash plates, fetch water, deliver food, and turn bags of eba daily. He made us strong and I'm thankful to him for that.
Back then, people thought he was being irresponsible, but he was teaching us life skills such as hard work, obedience to a master, and as the old saying goes, an idle hand is a devil workshop. He made sure we were busy, and didn't handicap our abilities by over-providing and over-protection.
So if you're reading this and still dependent on your parents because you don't want to grow up and go face life as a man, you'll suffer dearly. You're sacrificing your future for temporary convenience. You just have to pick something and do it, even if it pays less, you're most importantly learning life skills.
