What do you mean by cost of producing it? Someone stole 80billion Naira for crying out loud

Why will someone compare a sane country like Zambia to a country like Nigeria ruled by Buhari.
Don't try this rubbish again, Zambia is fara far ahead of this nonsense called Nigeria

Zambia has a little over 8 million voters while Nigeria has about 100 million voters.

Adding any other feature to the existing features in the ballot papers as INEC initially planned will require more ink to print them. INEC may ask for more money before they are included and it's justifiable.

You obviously know zilch about printing.

You can't tell me that the budget allocated to INEC can't cover the cost of adding a few extra colors to the ballot paper. It's safe to say that the corruption in INEC won't make it possible to print such ballot papers and not because of the cost of production

A lot of things has gone wrong in Nigeria that's making the country retrogress daily. And it's so sad that it ll reach a break point in future where something worst than civil war may be used to solve the problem.
Nigeria can use the type of ballot paper of Zambia. The cost of production should not be an issue if we don't v unnecessary high no of political parties, and cos we are richer than Zambia so we should be able to finance it conveniently.
But we v so many underlying issues connected to our electoral process.
One of such is the balancing of the gubernatorial calendar years. Up to 10 govs don't resume office out of the 36 we v. So many v been robbed of their mandate before getting it back. So the years are so inconsistent. And it happed at every election since 2003. Only God knows how many ll be inconsistent like out of the 25 or so remaining in 2023.
So...the country called Nigeria lacked the will to prosper in all sphere of life

go and study printing and have a better idea of what it cost to print a few extra details. Can't gulp note than 10 Naira extra per person and that's still around N1 billion.

Let graphic designers and printers come and share their expertise.

As for me, the Zambian ballot paper seems to have more white space and therefore less ink.

What INEC is doing is to be on the safe side. So it includes the names of all the registered political parties on the ballot so that no one will sue it later of not being included.

Does the ballot paper serve its purpose?

What makes a good ballot paper, function or astetics?

Explain why the Nigeria ballot paper is not good, how does it disenfranchise or facilitate rigging versus that of Zambia....

Nigeria does not have 100m voters. 2019 elections had a total of 82m voters while only 27m votes were counted. Even with an additional new voters of 11m in 2022 to the voters. 100m wont come out to vote in 2023. Max will be around 50-60m in 2023

Zambian.

But inept or criminal elements in Nigeria will not put photos of candidates on ballot paper.
First, it costs money which INEC bosses will loot:
Second, it may subtract votes from the candidate who INEC and government has in mind to win.

Interesting article:

Designing usable ballots

We know now from several years of testing ballots all over the U.S. that implementing simple principles of design make it much more likely that voters are able to vote the way they intend.

In research conducted by AIGA’s Design for Democracy Project for the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC), Mary Quandt and Drew Davies and their team learned the nittygritty of what makes design in election signage, posters, ballots, and other print materials effective for all kinds of voters.

About ballot design

A ballot is a form that represents perhaps the most important interaction between a government and its citizens. Thousands of votes are lost in elections every year because of poorly designed ballots. And yet, avoiding these design issues is not difficult or expensive.

What a ballot looks like is
constrained by legislation, technology, history, custom, cost, and other factors
But the anatomy of a ballot is fairly consistent throughout the more than 3,000 counties, parishes, and boroughs in the U.S. Design guidelines provide a tool for helping voters focus on their goal to cast votes for their preferred candidates.

Brother I don't agree with you on this. Whatever that's worth doing is really worth doing well. Mere looking at the two ballot papers, one would agree with me that much ink was used in the Nigerians version. That apart, the amount of money demanded by INEC is even more than enough to modify the paper for more clarity and understanding.
