Why should they get paid when they are not working?

The only reason why they have not tried to bend and end the strike is because they know they will still pay at the very end.

At the end of the day, it's the students that will lose. Most people will exceed the age limit of 30, and may not qualify to go and serve because of ASUU strike.

It has been very difficult and no one can even access loan due to salary stoppage.

Those of us with loans can't even pay our monthly repayments again.

God help us

FG has instituted the "No work, No pay" policy.

There was a time health workers went on strike for 2 months they weren't paid.

At the end of the day, they will still get paid. But what about the wasted years. Who would repay students.

No job,no enabling environment,no nothing!!

The Federal Colleges of Education are currently on strike and they are still getting their salaries sad
ASUU, NAAT, SSANU and NASU, all went on strike in the Federal Universities, only the salaries of ASUU and NAAT were stopped! Why?

ASUU should consider the students, are they the only union in the country. In reality all of us knows this lecturers have other gigs dey run asides that they also teach in foreign countries and private universities, I guess that's why they always quick to take their yearly leave all in the name of strike.
The funny thing is we keep letting ASUU get away with this their strike that has become a culture. Its getting boring, We have to put an end to it honestly.

You won't believe that I met two lecturers at different instances riding tricycle(Keke) just to sustain their families. This government is sickening.

During elections some of these lecturers and professors are they ones that will enable election rigging. They should also have a bite of what they gave us.

Most Nigerian lecturers have other business aside their regular lecturing jobs for instance, those in the medical field have their lab or hospital or pharmacy.

Others in management sciences have either hotels, or a grocery store run by their wife or relative

Some of the Agricultural lecturers are are into farming, pig, fish etc

A few in the computer science field of course you know were they are.

In Uganda, you cannot try having another job aside your lecturing job, it's called conflict of interest. If you do, you are sacked IMMEDIATELY! However, they are properly remunerated.
A house once you retire it becomes yours (after you finish paying)
Two cars ( one official the other unofficial)
Pension
Health care
2 of your kids will school outside Uganda
Vacation
Sabbatical abroad.

Those who will suffer this are the
Graduate lecturer
Lecturer 1&2

Honestly, one of my friend is in that category, and it has been difficult for him and his family, I had to be sending small change to him monthly, from my managing salary.

I pray God touch this our stupid government.

Students who graduate from Nigeria wonder why their qualifications aren't respected outside Nigeria. How can they respect it when they know the state of your educational facilties and funding levels. How will they when they know your lecturers are technically beggars, who live on piece meal to survive.

Face the government and tell them to be up and doing in human capital development. Create world class institutions like the private are doing at public level. Let the common Nigerian have access to good educational standards and watch how the sky would be exceeded in their limit.

As for survival. Alot of them are taking loans because everyone knows the government is only wasting time. The strike will never be called off till all salaries till date are paid.

APC is a calamity....Imagine not paying your varsity teachers for five months and you are still happy...I pity for those varsity students because it seems like the strike will enter next year considering the recent statement by the minister of labour that Nigeria is broke...One of the reasons why I do pray everyday against any type of strike by the Polytechnic lecturers because I can't imagine spending extra years combine with the months wasted because of Covid and previous strike actions..
My annoyance is that you will still see many among those students at home or even their parents that will still vote for APC making me to wonder if really we blacks are cursed...
We should join hands and send APC packing..
