Then stop the strike. Why should you be paid for no work? That is why you can go on strike every two years. May God forbid any salaries.
Don't type what you don't know! You stop salaries after three months of not working or commencement of the strike and not immediately!

IT'S SO UNFORTUNATE THAT NIGERIANS ARE SHALLOW MINDED.
THESE SAME LECTURES SINGLE HANDEDLY DESTROYED NIGERIANS. SO MANY OF THESE YAHOO BOYS AND MONEY RITUALISTS ARE GRADUATES WHO HAS BEEN ACADEMICALLY DESTROYED. THESE LECTURES DESTROY STUDENST LIKE THEY DESTROY GARBAGES. IN UNILORIN WHERE I GRADUATED FROM, A COURSE MATE OF MINE WAS TOLD BY HIS LECTURER "ME I DIDN'T ACHIEVE FIRST CLASS AND YOU WANT TO ACHIEVE FIRST CLASS? NEVER". THE STUDENT WAS CALLED "THERAJA". MANY PEOPLE CAN BEAR WITNESS..Some boys had 3rd class in their 1st degree, went abroad for masters and ALL 5 of them had 1st class in Malaysia, UK, etc. One of them is now a lecturer in that same unilorin. A student's result was declared missing by 7lecturers. We all knew he was victimized.they rape female students and give them results. A boy was dismissed for poor results, he went to Ukréìn and bagged 1st class in 1st degree and masters.

I don't pity any ASUU nor LECTURER.
Stop shouting, no one is fighting with you.

How can a man refuse to work and still expect to get paid?
And that same work will still be done abi? Check your reasoning wink

You are insensitive, inconsiderate and shallow- minded. Have you bothered to find out how much lecturers are paid?
If Nigeria is poor, what have our political leaders including senators done to reduce the cost of governance? They are human beings like every Nigerian, why do they deserve to live in luxury while others suffer on peanut salary.
FG IS AT FAULT FOR THE STRIKES.
I happen to know that the whole world is about to go into a very huge biblical trial. If ASUU doesn't call off this strike soon, crisis will erupt worldwide. Nigeria is already on the brink. Right now, many university workers in a hopeless situation. Just imagine that crisis erupts and universities cannot reopen again and university workers cannot be paid again. Can you imagine how much regret the university workers will have about this strike?

I support your submission on this. I have made similar comments too before. ASUU as a body or individual lecturers will never allowed students to hold them to ransom, never. I could recalled the days of SABURI in OAU. the guy was sent to jail all because of his grandstanding with the school authority.
Please note that school authority is different from ASUU. In fact all management staff or school authority of all federal universities are still being paid till date. They are usually and technically not part of the strike. They are gov't rep in schools.

Please stop comparing sane countries with ours because there's nothing sane about Nigeria. Where governments pay striking workers, it means that they rarely strike. That's not the case here.

FG can save their money and pay them when the issues are resolved. Withholding their salaries will compel them to negotiate. I totally agree with no work, no pay.
At the end of the day, who loseshuh The students abi, keep supporting these wicked leaders their children are enjoying overseas with good educational background.

That's why we have half-baked students in this generation because education is not the priority of the government.

Not true! SSANU and NASU members have not received any salary since May.
actually I gathered that it was April salary that was paid in early may, may salary till present are the ones withheld

Queensee:
Why should they get paid when they are not working?

The only reason why they have not tried to bend and end the strike is because they know they will still pay at the very end.

At the end of the day, it's the students that will lose. Most people will exceed the age limit of 30, and may not qualify to go and serve because of ASUU strike.
You are even talking of service, that program has lost its relevance for a while now.
We should even be more concern about not exceeding the employment age. Most organizations don't give an iota shit about anyone who is above the employment age no matter the circumstances that made you have a delay.
All they know is they want graduates with a blazing result, a max age of 25.
The country is on autopilot, things might crash soon.
Re: ASUU members, How Do You Cope Without Salary? by Nobody: 11:28am On Jul 30, 2022
JJuanMiguel:
ASUU is not the only body affected in that regard. It's a national problem.
Why go on strike and waste students time when you know you have insensitive government who doesn't even mind the strike lasting for 10 years cos it doesn't affect them and their kids in anyway?
ASUU are party to electing useless politicians too.
A lot of students lose their lives and get kidnapped traveling home and coming back during their annual incessant needless strikes.

ASUU are banking on the society to help them put FG under pressure, but even the two days NLC protest didn't move the government one bit.
So let ASUU stay home for two years, they know even if they don't get paid their now, the accumulated wages will be paid later, that's why it's easy for them to embark on strikes with no interest to consider other alternatives.
And the work will still be done, no be so? wink

cuz fg keeps promising then the strike is called off, nothing is done they go on strike again .so it's always the same issue. Instead of promises while not implement the 2009 agreement and ngige is d one handling it.make we forget sch for now till obi becomes president it's just remaining 5 months we go bear am
I know FG has faulted badly. I was just trying to chip in on why Fed College workers were being paid while the other tertiary schools weren't. It has become norms for them, no government would keep on paying especially since its like the go to medium whenever there's conflict like this.
Re: ASUU members, How Do You Cope Without Salary? by bjtinz: 11:32am On Jul 30, 2022
TBH it's difficult to justify the continued strike at this point.

ASUU should be reasonable. Everyone is poorly paid in the country - last I checked minimum wage is still 30k with workers even earning less.

The idea of comparing a professor to a senator is irrelevant.

Please ASUU should call of this strike

It is easy to blame them because you are not involved in their pains.
I have twice turned down lecturing job because of the very poor salary.
Do you know how much Nigerian lecturers are paid? Entry point is just above #100,000.
It has been like this for many years.
What do you do with that with the astronomical rise of cost of living in this country?
If Nigeria is too poor to pay lecturers well, why then do our political leaders earn and live in luxury as if we are the richest country in the world?
Why should a senator earn over #25 million per month while a professor earns less than #500,000 per month. A medical consultant earns less than #700,000 per month while a senator with SSCE earns tens of millions.
Why should our govt refuse to standardize our higher institutions but send their children to standard schools outside the country?
Why can't our Govt upgrade our hospitals but run overseas to be treated in hospitals with Nigerian doctors.
This are the roots of the crisis in the education and health sector and other sectors.
Our Govt is the problem. Our political leaders should see themselves as servant leaders and not as people who should use our collective resources to live in luxury while they pay peanuts to civil servants among whom are seasoned and skilled professionals.
You are right. I feel for them. But it's their top hierarchy I don't like. I don't mean what I say but I want those Prof. to take students into consideration.

Their main focus should be to campaign for a new government. Strike efforts with no encouraging end should be avoided because of students.

ASUU should consider the students, are they the only union in the country. In reality all of us knows this lecturers have other gigs dey run asides that they also teach in foreign countries and private universities, I guess that's why they always quick to take their yearly leave all in the name of strike.
The funny thing is we keep letting ASUU get away with this their strike that has become a culture. Its getting boring, We have to put an end to it honestly.
Blame your useless government not ASUU

When you speak against the Apc agents they call you names that you hate Buhari or Tinubu
Especially some yorubas that supposed to show good examples have continued to disappoint.

u nailed it a responsible govt will not allow any of its union go on strike for months without making any effort in resolving the issues..most Nigerians are used to the irresponsibility of govt..that y u see them blaming pastor Chris and oyedepo for not tiring thier roads.ignore him sir
ASUU demands are outrageous and unrealistic, the federal government cannot afford to commit that whole lot to these insensitive, lazy and incompetent lecturers.ASUU has destroyed the university educational system in the country with their their constant strikes and over bearing attitude and incompetencies of it's members.they should do an in house purging to save our citadel of learning, everything in life is not all about money. They should never be paid, infact the goverment should proscribe ASSU.the incoming president should handle the education ministry by himself.God will judge them.
