Nigeria youths are just to ignorant of d law walahi....it is lawful for the police or any other law enforcement agency to apply minimum force in effecting arrest of an offender......Its a crime to assault a public officer on duty to the extent of calling them bastards.Rufai should try this abroad and consider himself dead...

From the video it was even Rufai that was harassing the police.....Did u hear the part when he said " I will call the Governor, nonsense" the policemen were calm

I didn't see him harrassing the police. He was clearly annoyed about something. I am not sure if they triggered him to warrant his action.

There are very few road markings in Nigeria, which in itself is a crime against road users. In advanced Countries despite clear bus lanes, there are warning signs asking road users not to use the bus lanes. If people still flout this, they are not bullied or call criminals, as it's highly likely that it's a mistake. You are asked to pay a fine, which you can still discuss, and that's the end. But in Nigeria, I have witnessed people manhandled all because they passed the bus lane. I have personally been attacked for beating a yellow light, not even red light in surulere, and robbed of 10k by so called security men. A friend has also been beaten for passing one way in Port Harcourt when there was not a single "one-way" sign or warning.

Rufai I know it's too polished for this nonsense, maybe the policeman was expecting him to tip something for them but they forgot Rufai belongs to the 'we no dey give shishi' gang.

this is actually the risk we all face as everybody dey carry camera

all you need is to catch me on a bad day, edit the video, publish and i am done.

my default reaction to police is hostility

and for me, they are constantly doing their best to set people up. the only way to beat them is to get a dashcam.

as of now it is only the police are making up the narrative

You used the word "Believe". I work based on facts. I did not say that it did not happen, neither do I know that it did happen because we have not seen any evidence that it did happen. I won't swing either way if I have not seen any evidence.

Mr evidence, in saner climes would his car have been impounded and taken over by the police for a traffic infraction that a simple ticket issued would have addressed?

Do we need to criminalise citizens over such mundane things as using the BRT lane to the extent of forcibly seizing a person's vehicle?

Looks like Mr evidence naptu2 is on some blunt moaning on some f***Ng diatribe as if gold comes outta his arse.

Naptu2 if you can't respond to simple germane questions like why your so called consideration of evidence does not include a review of the legality or otherwise of terrorising citizens in the name of law enforcement over minor traffic infractions that simple ticketing can address, then Oga, kindly get f**** off my mentions..... Senk youuuuu cool

Why did the mod add "Policeman Threatens Rufai Oseni With Gun." to the title? That's not shown in the video.

This was the title that I wrote when I created the thread: "Video Of Rufai Oseni And The Policemen That Stopped Him On BRT Lane".

Seun, why are these propagandists using your platform to spread falsehood?
Why do you keep mods who change the headlines to suit their propaganda?

Was this before or after the policeman 'pointed a gun at him and drove his vehicle away'?

This is why we should always hear from both sides. The problem is the Nigerian police are terribly notorious so if a citizen cries wolf, we tend to believe that person instead of the police.
Even if Rufai was wrong, Rufai's argument is; Is deliberate use of firearm against a citizen right in this situation. That is the Question. Fine he violated traffic rule. Even though it's not shown in the video, is pointing a gun at him the best situation to resolve the problem

Nairaland moderators and their mischievous way of editing the tittle of a thread just to gain traffic.

Later one nonsense rule here will say every Nairaland member is responsible for what he or she posts. Then the question remain, how can one be responsible for what he or she posts when the moderators are fond of editing a person's post just to soothe their need of gaining traffic.

Honestly, while Rufai may have erred by law but the response of government officials is always wrong. I still stand by Rufai because of government's response to situation. We all know how these things goes but because we such a deceitful country, we pry our our errors and dwell on it for excuse to continue to misbehave.
Obviously, they have been looking for ways to make that guy look bad cos they feel they need to dent his integrity so that people can see that all is come short of the glory of God. They feel if they didn't do that, such people like that when they point accusing fingers at them will seriously affect and cast aspersions at their own integrity. This another form of blackmail. A societal blackmail and that's the state of professionalism that our law enforcers operate, with brute force.

Rufai might have erred, but the level of blackmail, intimidation and drag to cover their own unprofessional behaviors is quite appalling. It is the same trick that was up when thugs went to cart away electoral registration materials and devices and so many instances like that. It is also a political move to discredit the man who has built a moral followership cos these people thrive in chaos and deceits. The only right thing they holding on to is he erred and that is a valid reason for them to behave unprofessionally too.

To Rufai, I will just advice him to move on. Am pretty sure, they will continue to use that to blackmail him even when he ask certain truths during interviews. They won't even want to be interviewed by him sef because when they talk nonsense and he ask why, they will say because he had grievances with them and revert to incidents like this and yes, they are as petty like that. So he should move on and we all pray that these people are kicked out of government so people can truly know them for the evil they are.
