Morphinne:Too much words after quickly consulting Wikipedia. ![]() Short reply: AREWA Consultative Forum is a northern group. The word AREWA itself means North, in case you are confused. The north sees itself as monolithic politically. That's why people like Danjuma could be sent to avenge the killing of Sardauna. Don't try to twist stuff with me, I'm not your regular ipob/Agbado/BBN- engrossed specimen. If the north could consider Sunday Awoniyi northerner enough to lead one of their most important regional bodies, who are you to tell us Onaaiyekan is not northern enough? ![]() |

Agboriotejoye:Thanks for the correction bro but I intentionally included them for a reason. The Nupes and Igala are not found anywhere else other than their indigenous homelands of Niger and Kogi states respectively. So I’m still solidly on my stance that it would have made a little more sense if such people are called northerners than calling someone whose root can only be traced to Ife /Oyo, a northerner. Even the Yorubas in Dahomey, Togo and Ivory Coast will tell you they are descendants of Oodua. |

Morphinne:By this, you are saying Oodua is a Southern Nigerian. Funny thing though is that Oodua was never a Nigerian not to mention being a northerner or southerner. It is good you mentioned Yorubas in Benin Rep. Does your submission imply that Yorubas in Benin Rep are also Southern Nigerians? What about Fulanis? Are they Senegalese, Nigeriens or Northern Nigerians? The term North and South Nigerian is a delineation along British protectorates that have nothing to do with ancestral origin or cultural roots. So it is disingenuous to seem to denigrate it when it does not suit your narrative. Let me ask. If Saraki were to emerge Presidential candidate of a political party, will he be representing the S(W) or N(C)? Let me even make it real. When Saraki was Senate President with Osinbajo as VP, was it seen as two Yorubas holding 2 and 3 positions in Nigeria? Did Yorubas say one of us is the Senate President? |

You people are ignorant of what becoming CAN President entails. CAN is made up of blocks of Christian Denominations, not just Christians. Every time it is the turn of a block to present a president for the Christian Body, it is usually the leader of the block that is picked, whether Catholic or Anglican or Baptist or African Churches block or Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN). The truth is that most if not all churches in the North began in the South with their headquarters in the South. So, when it's the turn of let's say Baptist Convention of Nigeria to present a president for CAN is it not the general overseer of Baptist churches that will occupy the position? Let Northern Churches too have their own block of churches started by a Northern Christian and with massive growth like their counterparts in the south, then you will hear a Danladi Garba as CAN President. My Dad pastored in the North. I lived there. Most members of churches in the North are Southerners living and working there. There are few core Hausa-Fulani northerners Christians, expect in southern Kaduna, Gombe, Bauchi, etc. So there's nothing like CAN marginalizing Northern Christians. CAN Presidents are leaders of Blocks of Denominations that make up the Christian Body. Shalom. |

aod1:See as this one just dey talk out of point. Let me reply you for the last time.... CAN is just an association of churches that wish to be part of a member of the so called association. Thousands of other churches did not join them. It is a free of choice to join the group or not to join. Ask your pastor when you reach church on Sunday he would school you and I hope you learn and stopped being gullible... Bye bye ooo. |

IamAtikulate:You said even in Aba Yorubas have their mosques yet you contradicted yourself by saying the North does not allow them in central mosque. For your information, Yorubas have their separate mosques due to differences in some religious practices and activities with the North. Northerners pray in Yoruba mosques in every town in the North. |

North is for Muslims while South is for Christians. You can never see a southern Muslim as President of National Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, also, you can never see a northern Christian as president of Christian Association of Nigeria. Let everyone mind his/her business. |
