please apart from drivers license and car permits
Is there anything else I need to do?
If you’ll listen, I’d suggest you suspend anything e-hailing for now and perfect your driving skills. You need to give yourself at least 2-3 months to gain confidence and control of a vehicle. This is for your own safety. You’re new to driving + new to the extremely toxic and challenging e-hailing industry. Not a good combination.

Incase you haven’t completed the hoodlum classes, you can search for felicity0001 & read all his comments. You need this to survive the street.

Good luck. You’ll need it.

Sorry to say this, but it seems Nigerian Bolt Riders are among the DAFTEST CREATURES KNOWN TO MAN

See about 10 cancels in a row, ask me why they canceled?

Cause they asked me "Oga where are you?" and I responded with "You can track me on the app"

So they all just hiss and cancel.

I never knew that daftness in this country had reached this point where it's now almost an epidemic.

I had to ask one rider after all this to please show me his phone so I can look at the Bolt app, and when he showed me, my car was obviously accurately positioned on his map.

So why are you asking where I am

I now started playing games of clicking arrive when I am far far away, and the daft riders will be calling you like, "ARE YOU HERE?"

I will be like YES, I AM HERE. Then they will call back and be like, "but I can't see you"

So wait, you mean you can't check your phone to see that I am MILES AWAY FROM YOU? You actually came downstairs with your daft self to start looking for me? My goodness! Oh my goodness!!!!

You will carry a white guy, they guy will be waiting for you and tracking you on the app, but get a request from a typical daft Nigerian and next thing is "OGA WHERE ARE YOU?"

No wonder the country is useless and the people keep voting for ediots. If you can't look at the phone to view my car just after booking a ride, then what hope is there even for selecting the right leadership?

What a country, what a people!!!

Then you have the demonic people that will want to show you "pepper", by allowing you to waste your petrol to get to their location and then cancel when you get there.

They, like the devil, want to frustrate you, like it will give them joy.

I have started saving such peoples numbers on my phone.

One day, they will be stranded and when I see their number I will know that this is so and so that frustrated me before.

Lol, it's really disturbing.
Some don't even know what's surge, end trip you'll start hearing something like "but I used to pay 3k for this trip everyday, why is your own different?"
Even the app will still be displaying the estimate, dull people everywhere.

Too dull abeg, my goodness, haba!

Even the bible says a wise man takes correction, but when you try to correct them, next thing is for them to hiss and cancel.

You can't even help them learn, so that they too, can now be tracking their next drivers.

I still wonder why we degrade ourselves so much in this country. Is it because we're blacks or some of us haven't had the opportunity to interact with the whites.

I work on Fiverr and deal with the whites a lot. Some of these guys can as well be as dumb as your typical average Nigerian. They ask silly questions even when what they are asking about is clearly written in black and white on your profile.

Such questions as which country are you in, what's your gig price, etc. What you need is to explain this all over again and it takes you absolutely nothing to do so.

We all can't be exposed. There are people who are slow learners and non tech people. They don't even understand how map works and that the car icon on the app indicates where you are.

They will ask questions up to the color of your car. I normally would answer this and move on. My interest is to get paid.

Don't let anyone deceive you with the InDriver thing bro. Request on InDriver is still low and extremely competitive that you can stay for 5 hours without doing a single trip. There are places you will find yourself and you will never get an InDriver trip close by.

Uber fare is still ridiculously low compared to Bolt. Bolt as at the time of writing this is still the king in this industry. They give you trips more quickly and frequently with or without surge and they have a better fare price than Uber.

Until they block you, your eyes will clear. I have always emphasized here that your rider is not your enemy. Don't start a fight with someone you never had an issue with and whom you are providing a service. This is not about humility but common sense.

When you discuss with some riders and hear their experiences with other drivers, you cannot but shake your head.

I understand your point of view, I really do!

Ultimately as we say with most things here, you just suck it up and get paid, at least for the most part - NOT sucking up everything oo, please lets be careful and vigilant.

Yesterday was just my day to vent I guess, or I'll treat it as such. It was a nice experiment, non the less, to see the kind of people that make up society at large.

I feel mostly, it's just ignorance and laziness.

I will maintain though, that even a first time user should be able to decode, comprehend, assess... the meaning of the car icon for the driver on their app, unless of course, they are much older or have other disabilities. We aren't talking about deeper features like app calls and so on, just the main initial screen on which you booked your ride. You should want to at least glance at those details, like glance at the drivers pic, name, time of arrival, hmmmm what is this car thing - is that where he/she is now?

You cant just book a ride and throw your phone away, thinking an angel from the sky is going to land and pick you up right from your toilet seat.

Again though, I can't gainsay much more of what you said. Ultimately we have to move and move we shall by Gods grace.

Indriver isn't that bad the way you portray it. On Saturday I did an hour trip(twice) on Indriver for 3300. I did an hour on bolt without surge and it came to 2800. You're allowed to choose your price. The commission is also 9.5 compared to Bolt's 25. I'm not saying Indriver is better than bolt.....I'm just saying that they both have advantages and disadvantages.
Moreover, I agree it's highly competitive but then I haven't stayed 2 hours without a trip.

This is outside the discussion:

Why are some of these riders dubious? They tend to do fake transfers and when you tell them to wait for you to confirm, they would give you 1 star and write negative comments about you, on the rating.
A lady made a statement on my rating that I made her wait for 15 mins to confirm a transfer.

Meanwhile, another lady recently made a false transfer in my car and I delayed her to confirm the transfer. After waiting for almost 20 mins without alert. I told her to pls give my money, that I can't wait anymore. She said she would call someone to make another and asked what will happen to the one she did before. I told her I would transfer it back. The transfer the person she called did, entered almost immediately. Up till today I've not received the one she claimed she did.

They write negative comments about you concerning the wait....but I don't really understand what they expect. That you should just let them go without confirming the transfer! That means you'd pack up soon.

I even had similar experience late last year. I had to beg someone here to go help me track the man at the hotel opposite askamaya. The person here that agreed to help, said the man never picked his calls. This rider made a fake transfer and showed me fake receipt. I left. After some hours, I didn't get the transfer. I called him and he said he doesn't know what to do. At some point he stopped picking my calls. I was on the mainland around 5, hoping to get a ride to Lekki. Finally got the ride to phase 1. Parked my car there cos of traffic. Took bike to the hotel. Begged the receptionist to help me call him. We dragged the issue till he gave me 4k cash.
Just imagine what I had to go through just because I want to collect my money for a service rendered.

Do u know there is a high percentage of drivers who are using another person's account to work? If people were as observant and keen as u expect or presume, then that wouldn't be possible.
Attention span is reducing globally, and in NIGERIA people have many other concerns, studying Bolt App is additional burden grin

The lord's prayer. Always remember Lastma don't have vehicle and gun to chase you. If you have your way to japa, please do. If you have enough chance not to open your window, don't open. If you have your way strip naked and prevent your car from being tolled, please do. If you know of any way to prevent them from entering your car, please use it.

Stay blessed.

I won't advise anyone to be doing stunt with Lastma. You could cause more harm to yourself, vehicle and the people around.

I witnessed one where the guy was running for Lastma, they blocked him and he speedily climbed a kerb by the side of the road unfortunately it was too high and he damaged his car and they still towed him away. Apart from that what of other road users? Pedestrians?

Best is never do anything that will make them come for you. Try as much as possible not to drop or pick up people by the side of the road. Obey traffic rules. One thing I always do in areas where I'm not familiar with is to always ensure there are two or more vehicles in front of me and I follow my map.

Peace!

Try to be open minded, and don’t let them get under your skin. Some riders immediately i call them to find out if they’re at the pick up, the manner in which they respond will determine if i’m gonna show up at all.

Some will be like “ oga get here fast am running late” that kain trip i might not go because am not james bond. Some will yell at you because the previous drivers have canceled on them severally , i’ll just laugh and assure them am coming.

Some drivers want riders to greet them first, to me it doesn’t matter who does first. i’ve had riders who don’t even answer your greetings, wetin concern me. In my mind i’ll be like if dem born you well no pay my money.

Lastly, they are very nice and respectful riders that will take time to explain the best route to pick them up and even guide you to drop off. Speak nicely and give hooge tip.
