You have a point doh, but people make way more than that to cover for the cost of rent. People earn up to 4000 to 5000 pounds a month in the UK. 5000 x 12 is 60,000 pounds. That's a lot of money, remove rent and other expenses, a lot of money is still left. Much more than I'll make even with my 800k naira in a year here

Go and learn from your own experience.
At least if it doesn't work out, you can always relocate elsewhere again.

OP is going for MSc and would stay in hostel where all fees are inclusive ...you pay these only when you rent flat. Average rent in shared apartments are between £350-£450 besides students don't pay council tax or TV license. Please try and read up more on this and stop showing ignorance. Hey God ....£1000 for rent? na Mansion e wan sleep? angry

sukkot:
that 1600 take out rent 1000 and council tax 100 and transport 100 and food 200 and light 50 and water 50 and gas 50 and mobile phone 50 and tv license 20. you are left with absolutely nothing

UK

Take this advice from me, and remember it came from me, you won't regret it. If you're finding it difficult in the UK later let me know.
But first I'd like to know some things about you.

What is your academic background that got you the 620k job?
Was your first degree in Nigeria or abroad?

Imagine if you add MSc from UK, and wish to return , will it not boost your office position with higher pay?

If you want to base in the UK, then the future of your children are secured in a working system.

As I said earlier, pursue the UK dream, even if you do minial jobs, you can easily make 1k pounds (more than 700k in naira)
And do you know you will spend that 1k pounds faster in UK than you will spend even 500k naira in Nigeria?

See human being reasoning. Tell the company this, tell the company that. Thay they should keep the job for him till whenever he returns. As per he is the only one in the entire whole world that can do the job.

Some people can overestimate themselves sha

I only said he should notify the company he's already applied for M.sc programme, no company is going to wait but is best they know

Please do what works for you! But for me I will advise you to leave immediately!
I reside in the UK and I send £1000 every month home (750,000) at lowest rate Which we know that it's about 820k now @820 as my savings at home! I pay my bills, I feed well and still do giveaway once once.... When u live in a place where everything works u wouldn't worry much!
Yes, your first 4 months might be difficult because of tuition fees and all that but believe at the end it's worth it!
You can do some low jobs which can give u up to £500 in a week as a student! Then after ur studies you can get a job that gives u between £35000 to £90,000 per anum! Everything is passion and target... You will earn #680,000 and spend 50k on fuel for generator, burn some for car, do the whole wahala plus no security? Wawu!!! Alot of naija that came here 2 years ago are already putting up a good building at home...

And when he comes back his salary will quadruple. There are people with PhD in that his field and that are better than him in this country without job or with far less pay. Nobody is indispensable.
You say MSc from UK university? Then companies will be rushing him. Seems you are not current

As a single man or with a family of 4?
Bruh, financial management is the key. There was a time i earned just a lil bit above 100k as an intern just for a year. I saved like hell today am making more than that being an entrepreneur nd still employed 3 People just by saving 90percent of that money earned from doing intern for just a single year.
Imagine me earning just 400k for just 6 months

Money is not everything. People relocate for various reasons. If your priorities are:

Quality of Life
Value for life
Security
Good Healthcare
World class education
Higher life expectancy
Enabling environment to thrive, then consider relocating.

I earn about N800k a month and my wife probably earns N400k, but I am unsettled with the thought of living in an environment where gunmen can enter a church and kill people- including children in cold blood, kidnap people in a train and hold them for months, attack prisons and free convicts, close down schools due to security threats, yet our law makers earn one of the fattest salaries worldwide...

Life in the UK will not be easy for a few years, but you will have your sanity. You want your children to grow up in a sane environment.

It's a tough choice sometimes, you can't eat your cake and have it. Something has to give. If our leaders 'get sense' and do the right things, no one will be running abroad.
