This is why some self-published authors make zero dime. You don't jump into any niche because someone else is making sales on that niche.

You need to first determine the profitability of the niche, the demand for that niche and the number of competitors on that niche.

If the outcome of your research gives you a green light on that niche, then you can proceed to create a book on that niche.

Many so-called mentors got their valuable information freely from great teachers like Paul Merles and package it for you for sale.

Paul is a go to source for anyone interested in making low content books but I tell people to run as far as their legs can carry them from making low content books.

Low content books are like gambling. You need to create a lot of them because you don't know the one that will generate sales and the royalty payment is so small, therefore you need to sell a lot to generate any meaningful royalty payment.

One well written non-fiction book will generate more royalty payments than 10 low content books.

I subscribed to creative fabrica and canva Pro. I download interiors from CF and modify them a bit on canva to make them unique. You also need to have done keyword research to know what to publish.

This strategy enables me to price my books within $15 - $20 range which generates a royalty within the range of $6 - $8 / sold book.

This is one of the reasons I don't advise anyone to publish low content books because of the low royalty it generates and you will have to sell lots of low content books in other to start being profitable.

Before seeking for a mentor, what personal efforts have you made towards researching or reading about what Kindle Direct Publishing is all about?

Are you going into it with the right mindset and willing to commit towards learning, implementing what was learned and staying committed?

KDP is serious business and it has it's learning curve just like every other businesses out there.

It is a digital real estate that is also very rewarding at the long run when done rightly but again, there is no overnight success in this business model.

Do a self appraisal and determine for yourself if you have the right motive and mindset to embark on this self-publishing journey.

As per the bolded, you're right. Some titles are actually trademark by some authors. No other person can write on them. That's why I always check if there are other books on a title before writing on it. If I notice only one author write on the title, I quickly stay off. It could be trade marked.

I have always wondered how people are able to make money from KDP publishing, especially with a book of like 3,000 words. This is because there are free blog posts via Google that seem to do a great job on some topics that the books cover.

Of course, that's true. But there some titles specifically written by popular authors that one just can't write on even though it's not trademark when searched on uspto.gov.

For example, the title adult children of emotionally immature parents.

Should one write on that title above, it will automatically be flagged by Amazon.

Those are some of the type of titles I was referring to.

I want to ask. What font type and font size do you usually use for the body text of your books, and what line spacing?
