Lols, so any issue that gives APC serious headache will land on the Proscribing document of Federal Government....... Very funny lazy Government of Buhari and their way of creating problems from problems than solving the problems..... Education should be giving a better allocation from the Federal Government. If foreign countries should tell you the kind of revenue they generate from foreign Students coming for studies in their counties, you will be shocked..... Some foreign Universities even use the tuition fees paid by foreign students to pay for their own citizens students tuition fees or at a very reduced rate.... Education if well managed is one of the best means of generating huge revenue for Government.....but a lazy Government like APC , will rather go for quick cash out revenue system. 2 Likes |

They will relicate to private universities and the public universities will totally collapse. We have said it countless times, liberalise university education. There is no way a country can offer free college education to all it's citizens particularly a developing country such as ours with galloping population growth. The public needs to share the burden and the Legislature needs to rise to this challenge and set a timeline for government's withdrawal of funding which can be over a period of say ten years so that citizens begin to gradually foot the bill themselves |

Ebubu: Government is a continuum and not a private or personal affair. Any government in power, be it outgoing or incoming can negotiate the affairs of the country it governs. If an outgoing government cannot negotiate what will be inherited by an incoming government why did buhari negotiate and sign Fuel subsidy removal agreement to take effect from June 2023 which is just few weeks into the administration of a new government in power? He signed this agreement just last week oo. |

The govt is to be blame for this nonsense in the first place . This kind of hostage can not stand if a person like me rule this country . imagine ASUU turning themselves to accademic bandits holding students for ransom . if you can't do the job based on any reason then quit and you'll see millions of people will be ready To do it even better than you . Same thing in 2002 for almost 9-months , my matric number bears 02 but I started my first registration in Sept 2003. what kind of craze be that ? Is as simple as tell the ASUU what the system can afford and whoever think he can't adjust should quit the job and bring in fresh brains .... after all wetin Dem dey lecture self . I will value my secondary school teachers more than this motherfuckers calling themselves lecturers anyday. overhype people ! Primary school teachers did 30% of the job in any academic life while secondary school teachers did 60% and just the 10% they want to do always becomes problems simply because they want to award Bsc or B eng as the case may be . Sack them ! train and bring in new people to rebuild education sector and forget about this useless cabals is the way forward . lecturer my foot ! 6 Likes 3 Shares |

The question is will banning ASUU improve the university system? Will it put more resources in the university? Will it enable government to introduce the robust ways of funding the system? Please leave those small issues and focus on critical issues. 2 Likes |

Banning ASUU wont solve the problem of Budget padding at Federal Ministry of Education, neither will it solve the strangulatory control by NUC and the endemic corruption and complexity inherent in the education sector. The solution is simple. Grant UNIVERSITY AUTONOMY. Let each university runs on its own but bring oversight regulatory activities to ensure quality control and delivery. Release Universities from the control of political elites, manipulative civil servants and Pro Chancellors benefiting hugely in contract largesse in the system. Oye omo to n'sun kun. Its a shame actually. And i dont understand why pdp will go into an agreement they cant fulfil. Apc inherited this problem and they have been trying to renogociate what they can actually fulfil. ASU on the other hand are just seeking more money not for the benefit of the students. We all know professors lecturing in 4 to 5 universities and using junior lecturers to in our institutions but yet the money is not enough. They have ghost workers. This people are rich and they are still demanding for more. And when the President of the same association was asked if it was ok for them to see students sit at home without going to class, he said its a sacrifice the students have to make. (IMAGINE?) Why should the students make that sacrifice? Thats evil. The agreement they signed with PDP is just unfair. The payment system only guarantees more money for them, is not that it will improve the teaching standards. What they want truely is that they want their share of the National Cake. No be lie. 2023 is by the corner, lets assume Peter Obi becomes the next president he will inherit this same problem. My questions to Obi now is will he accept the terms PDP agreed? Or will he renogociate? Cause I firmly believe ASU will not renegociate. If you have been through the 4 walls of a higher institution you will understand. Students have been paying the price since the years of the Ancestors, not just this present regime and am sure the next regime will dance to their raggae and blues. Conclusion. ASU we don tire for una. Na under una watch private institutions full the country. Now e dey pain una...they won cash out. 4 Likes 2 Shares |

The government is running away from reality...ie raising fees. So also is ASUU. That's why they both orbit around the strike issue. They don't want to raise fees. They would rather proscribe ASUU or divide it with the new union than face the reality of raising fees above 500000 naira a month because at the end, most Nigerians won't be able to afford it. But the harsh truth is, some how, some how, funds need to be found for universities to be better. And it has to come from somewhere. Neither Government or ASUU have a magic money tree in their offices that produces 5 million pounds sterling every 10 minutes.. |

ArcSEMPECJ: Many of the foreign universites also charge high fees from their local/citizens/native students.... In the UK, yes they earn a lot from foreign students, but local students pay 6000-9000 pounds sterling...and recently the universites themselves called for a rise to 13000 pounds per annum. 1 Like |

Getnewinfo:Nigerians knows the people holding the country to Ramson and it's evident in every sector of the country. Let the leadership of the country make compromise from their allowances . You really don't understand what this government doing ? They're preparing ASUU for another strike immediately after general election . That's why they want the agreement to materialis match 2023 so that another round of negotiations will start all over again as Buhari is getting ready to handover, which means the incoming government will inherit striking ASUU. I'm not a lecturer , but the truth is than our universities will continue to be in a mess if lectures are treated badly. 1 Like |
