See I have a bakery and the truth is i have been operating it for over 3years and its doing well, but immediately when the war started and everything became expensive it's very hard to make huge profit and d competition is now much am still running it thou, but I cant save from it I will advice you look for another business cost of production is on the high side am even planning to lease mine sef I have more than 12 workers

Train Madam to be the Manager...
Support her during weekends....
In addition you will have 2 stream of income...
Salary and Bakery...
No need to close any one...
In addition, you need a min of 3 to 5yrs for a biz to get stable
In due time...you will know if you can resign to face bakery...

Why not set up the bakery and employ those who will manage it for you while, you continue your banking job. You may later resign when the business is booming

Since you have set up the business, I will advise you go ahead but do the followings

Take a month leave if it will be granted for you

Go for three days intensive training on bakery and go with your wife if possible

Then take off the bakery while on leave and watch how it grows

For the next three weeks remaining in your leave, get someone to be paid and both you and your wife will follow up watching, observing and taking notes of where to improve

By the time you return back to work, give yourself up to six months to pull out finally and face the bread business

That is if you Ike what you are getting there

Is your wife working ? Why can you allow ur wife to handle the bakery business and if what you realized on the business monthly is times 2 if ur bank work, you can quit,

Have you done your business plan to manage your expectations. Do you understand the workings of the business. Have you gone on training to understand the process. Do you have your certification. Why don't you go on one month leave first to familiarize yourself with the business.

Bakery is not banking. You will be dealing with artisans. It is a job you must be on site daily otherwise there will untold consequences. Please look before you leap. My one kobo advice

You can test waters for 3 months by getting your wife to oversee the bakery for two days ( Tuesday and Thursday). You will run staggered production... For now operate strictly 3 or 4 day week cycle.

Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
While you take over weekends ( sat & Sun)

See how it goes for the 3 months,then you decide whether to go full scale.
Target the retail end... ₦100,150,200 ₦500. units of bread move faster... ₦150 and ₦200 especially if you live in a youth dominant environment.

Congrats chief, bread money is daily money..

My advise . How much do you generate as profit at the moment. . Mind you once you quit the job no more steady 100k .. what is it customer base ! . Ad what kinda market do you run ! . Can you make at least 200k monthly from the business take into consideration payment of salaries and logistics . ( No salary to fall back if there is a default ) Banking job can be frustrating especially the contract staff (stagnant salary earners) Above all pray about it before you make any Move .Make sure you and your wife are on the same page.

Your plan is good but DON'T QUIT CURRENT JOB IF THERE'S NO OTHER INCOME SOURCE NO MATTER HOW SMALL. The truth is that if start now and get someone to manage it for you, the person won't do it well like you will do it but a time you come when u will be convinced urself to drop ur salary job and fully takeover urself. By that time, that manager I've engaged won't be happy with you because the money is getting illegal from ur business will stop (if he's not faithful) and he will complain u take over after he has stabilized ur business for you.

Bakery (loaf) job is delicate.....especially in Nigeria, not stable at all...u could hit millions in a month and bankrupt (x3) the following month......
If u have anyone u fit trust to help u manage it while u self go dey come there after work and especially in the weekends until u re very sure say hin don stable.... You be consultant.

You shouldn't had set up a bakery without seeking for advice, raw materials for bread is damm expensive now, flour, sugar, gas etc are now out of reach, people hardly buy bread because of it high costs.

Never the less, just start and work smart to break into the market. Good luck.

Get a trusted person to run the business,while you get involved Saturdays and Sundays . Test it for 3months . That should be enough time to reach a decision .

Don't quit, start the bakery before you quit. Bakery business right now is going through a lot. Except if you have an exceptional business plan, and to do this you must be properly involved before you come out with a plan. A start up plan without feasibility study will quickly end in tears. Trust me.
