This is a sad reality honestly.

Reality hit me recently when my sister and her family moved to the UK, I was happy for her and at the same time feel sad how the hardship in the country made people depart from their loved ones and the worst is you aren’t sure if you will ever be able to see each other again but can only communicate on phone.

Studying outside Nigeria myself I knew how it was difficult for me being apart from my family and loved ones, imagine relocating to another country permanently with no family, friends etc.

It scares me to think my parents might never see their grand children if I relocate, with the insecurity in Nigeria there is high probability Nigerians in diaspora might avoid Nigeria.

The worst of it all is that people think it’s an achievement to depart from family and be hustling in a white man’s land.

It beats me honestly, many Nigeria citizens now own a dual nationality. Nothing joyful anymore about the Nigeria system, filled with unprecedented corruptional practices. It leaves a responsible man with no choice rather to work out his own salvation by moving into a working environment, where things could possibly blossom.

Ukraine is very dry.... Large country no crowd.. no industrialization... Just organization and taxes... But when Russia invaded them...

Citizens landed from all over the world including sport stars to fight.. I mean not support fighters.. they go to war front and fight......

i was working at a big 4 audit firm in Nigeria. Went to Canada and worked for the same company. Along with many people i know. Currently work in an international bank lol. On a monthly basis i am saving times 3 of the net salary i got in Nigeria. Next year i will qualify for citizenship in Canada. I can still come back to Nigeria to take finance manager or CFO jobs paying over 2m a month. So tell me was i not wise to relocate If Nigeria burns or goes to war lets say i move back. Canada will come rescue me. If i fall ill i wont need gofund me or donations with my Canada passport lol.
Why do you wish Nigeria war and burns...

Apparently, this is the thought on your mind you wanted to express. Your thoughts alone suggest you're very poor in spirit.

In bold.
The insecurity has been stagemanaged to extend to southern regions in order to make the southern emigrants loathe returnig to Nigeria, even for a visit.

Come to think of it,Nigerians are not welcome anywhere in the world because we have spoiled our image and name ,unlike in those good days, when Nigerians are regarded as precious people feeding with golden spoons. You would not want to leave Nigeria for anywhere. I remember, l once spent #1000 to travel from Nigeria to London and then to Netherlands then back through same route. One naira is equivalent to 1$,as for pound, its#1.50.
During my second journey in1986,a British woman was requesting for my friend ship,l turned her down because she's a shop attendance. I was very proud as a Nigerian air force officer.Who bewitched us in this country? Why must you traveled before you can make it.?In the course of traveled some have met their untimely deaths! Haba,God have mercy. As lam writing this now millions are planning to check out.

I mean families are being separated daily due to economic migration from Nigeria to overseas because the country isn't working.

They're many lonely wives separated from their husbands who work abroad

Brothers are separated from their brothers and sisters because they've gone to seek for greener pastures

Some parents haven't seen their children for years because they've gone for greener pastures

You don't see Americans, British or Dutch people separating from their families just to work in Africa.

Why is everything the opposite for Africans.

Funny a thing the black Africans count it as an achievement to migrate to a white man's country and abandoning his own root to rot away.

Was the black man created on a sunny day?

Help me solve this puzzle
While those who migrated via B1B2 knew their choice of migration would keep them out for a long time.

Tell that dude to get his butt off the couch and work hard. I don't understand why Nigerians complain about menial jobs in the abroad. If I can get 200k for washing dishes every month in Nigeria, I will stay back. They are getting paid for what they do. Instead of complaining, they should see it as stepping stone to something better. In some west countries, vocational training is free and has no age limit, they can look for a skill and get trained in it for better pay. Some countries even pay you during the training.
In my opinion, it is only a lazy that will complain when they go to west countries.
We4all:
Actually Nigerians are overdoing it and see it as an achievement. I know two families who relocated recently using their wives student visa with no intention of coming back.

They sold all their properties and ran off like they were being chased. The next thing is to start snapping pictures and posting on SM.

Guess what, they left their almost comfortable lifestyle in Nigeria to live in a room’s apartment. One of the husbands got a job as a factory worker and his wifey is trying to hold unto her 20 hours per week job.

Dude is complaining bitterly and regretting that he shouldn’t have travelled with the kids first. Nigerians just love to practice the bandwagon’s effect.

I understand where you're coming from, but this situation is inevitable.

Check it very well, the people that are "doing well" will not think of relocating abroad permanently to the extent of forgetting their home country.

But see the "poor" Nigerians? To them, if they leave Naija, there is nothing left to call home. It's like how the Irish and Chinese migrated to the USA in the mid-1800s to mid-early 1900s.
Many of these immigrants' children are now Americans and no longer care about their "original" countries anymore.
Poor Nigerians jaapa? Pls tell me you are joking sir.

Do you know how much it will cost you to jaapa? If you don't know, I can tell you it's not for a poor man.

I try to understand your point though.

There are Americans, dutch ,indians, chinese etc all over the world who don't go to their home countries regularly. I once stayed in the guest house of a client in port harcourt and met a mexican man there. He has not been to Mexico in 7 years and has even been kidnapped once in Nigeria. But he no go back because he is earning good as an expat here. So whats the big deal if Nigerians do same What is the point of seeing your families or wife when una dey suffer or facing uncertain future ehn A man who can’t provide for his family wont have a family for long. Less than 5% of Nigerians are outside Nigeria too
Life's tough.
Nothing new about people going extreme to make ends meet.
Since antiquity, men- soldiers go to wars to die so their families and loved one would live.
What is the point of seeing your families or wife when una dey suffer or facing uncertain future ehn
@bolded is apt!
People go abroad, leaving their loved ones behind because their loved once needs to eat and survive.

That is the sad reality of our day. Many families even end up falling apart after migration. The fear, anxiety, confusion, anger, emotional trauma are better imagined than experienced.

A parent abandoned their 2 years old son and came back after 13 years. The conversation between them was embarrassing and heart breaking.
Will the family separations stop? No. Is it worthwhile? Many only realize after the damage has been done.

Our greatest needs are for things that money cannot buy—namely, love, emotional security, and family unity.
Our greatest needs is ours to choose. There is no right approach to life. Everybody get wetin dey give am joy

So our leaders cannot do anything positive, what kind of logic is this.

Is it white people that are ruling us.

Please let's gain some perspective.

quentin06:
Its the way the whites want it, have you asked yourself of the millions spent on developmental projects in the last 50 years all over africa, what came of it? Nothing.

They want our children to go over there and slave for them , they have to make here look like hell so that our children can go over there and never return. Its too bad people here dont care.

Some white people live in the same country and still have wack relationship with their families. Nigerians try to maintain relationship with their families when they travel. Nigerians dey try abeg. If you look at it again, this life is everybody on their own. Make what you can and leave the rest. Technology has also made it easy to stay connected.
Home is where you make it, not necessarily when you come back to Nigeria.

It is better to have little and enjoy it in peace, than have so much and have no peace.

The system does not work in Nigeria, you provide your security, you electricity, your roads, you water, your everything.

Plus people are crazy and abnormal because of so much deprivation.

VeeVeeMyLuv:

Yes I agree they are average.... But comfortable! They can enjoy the little pleasures of life that are fast becoming a luxury in naija. But here if u are not the friend, family, cronies, girlfriend, sidechick, loyalist, associate, partners and what have you, the system will not allow you to live a reasonable life.

Your thread has a nice topic to debate on but from your responses you sound too bitter and insulting, everyone must not have your perspective. That you're a professional and earning good money doesn't mean every other person is. You are lucky and should be grateful instead of insulting people's endeavor to survive this harsh environment. Try and tone down your response.
