Hello Guys! Please, are there more advanced MySQL functions out there, coz I feel like I know them all.... From "ranks" to "views" to "stored procedures" to more "advanced sub-queries". I am no expert, I just wanna learn something new and different on MySQL. Searching for advanced MySQL videos on YouTube still leads me to the ones I listed above or functions on other server like postgre, Microsoft server etc.. (which I don't use). I have done and posted few sample Data Analysis projects here on nairaland. Plz Kindly view my profile and see if there are more things I need to know and Improve on. Thank you.

Is this still on?
I am also interested.
I want a group that we can learn together as a beginner. I am at the verge of going to register for a course at a training school

What's up guys? I know it's been long since I posted here: been busy with going back to school, work and other stuff.

I remember giving the above advice the last nine months and I'll like to say that as of today, it still stands most especially from my experience working as a data analyst with an NGO while doing my MSc.

I can't emphasize it enough: learn your SQL. Again I repeat, learn your SQL if you are to switch to anything data related: whether a data analyst, scientist or engineer.

Most organizations have databases which you'll use SQL to interact with. I'm saying this because sometimes I feel there's too much emphasis on learning Python. Don't get me wrong; python is important in the world of data but it should be like number 4 on your learning list with spreadsheets and BI tools before it.

In addition to the above, I would advise you work with larger databases when practicing: the table I've been working with had about 120000 rows by 220 columns and it was just one table out of about 300 grin Quite large when you compare it to the ones used on your Udemy tutorial or YouTube or even Kaggle.

I'm not saying this to discourage anyone, just giving you an insider perspective. I would post more tidbits when I have the time.

Good evening boss.

I'll be going for NYSC once ASUU call off the strike. How can position myself for an opportunity to work with an NGO or any corporation as a data analyst during my service year?

I will appreciate your insights on this.

Thank you.

I don't know which is the best but you can download MySQL by searching "mySQL download" on Google.

You can check out a YouTube video on how to install it.

I have done that on two different occasions.

Thank you for replying.

I have an issue with the url per se.

When I run my code and view the scraped page using prettify, I don't get the same thing as when inspected on the original page.

Hence I am no able to get to the elements I need.

Any way around this?

You may need to use selenium to automate scrolling down so more job postings are loaded before scraping.

Let me rephrase my issue a bit clearly.

The raw html I see on document inspector isn't the same when I scrape it.

I have completed my project though. I used glassdoor even though it had lesser data points that I needed from indeed.

What I have noticed about Nigerian data analysts (mainly the show-offs) is that they all think data analysis is all about creating dashboards(visuals) as though they are graphic designers. And I can bet it that they didn't really do much of any cleaning and wrangling of data, otherwise they will show that part as well: trust Nigerians.

I don't see Whites post things like dashboards. To them, it's just a normal thing. The 70-80% of an analyst job is spent more on cleaning and preparing the data. This is where the knowledgeable of SQL, DAX, Pandas, Excel Functions comes in.

Simply put, Nigerian Data analysts are more of graphic designers while the white counterpart are much more than that: they are just like the scientists of the data itself. Your dashboards doesn't really tickle their fancy.

Follow them, you will understand that Data analysis has a long way to go in Nigeria.

Ps: I may be wrong, but that's my opinion.

Bro, you just said my mind.

You'll be surprised to know that most of these guys running up and down with dashboards don't really do more of data cleaning, not to talk of modelling, and some rich DAX.

I designed a web crawler for indeed. I didn't put time breaks in my code so i was extracting a lot of data per second and eventually my ip got banned. Indeed is relatively easy to scrape

I just started learning SQL and I'm using MySql Workbench.

I seem to have issues trying to create a simple table and each time I tried, I will get a syntax error message. I have watched videos but can't see what I'm doing wrong.
