Kog45: I agree, undiluted fact. The lad is on an upward spiral, let's give him time maybe this full season, and then he should be eased into the national team set-up and subsequently the starting 11. 2 Likes |

We used to have an NFF U13 and U15 program ACTIVELY Functioning and playing games couple of years ago but not hearing about that now. It was functional under Maigari I believe and still functional for bit under Pinnick as we had Lateef Omidiji then play alongside Olatomi Olaniyan in the Nigerian U15 team to a few tourneys in Morocco or so. Such programs yielded the likes of Awoniyi, Iheanacho and few more. We also have had the LMC Youth promises U15 tourneys across the country. But it's not consistent. We have had a few good grassroots programs but our problem is the CONSISTENCY AND SUSTAINABILITY OF these programs. Today, they are active... the next year it is like nothing is happening. Right now, it is the Academies network at the grassroots level we have in Nigeria that is giving us glimmers of hope. The likes of FC Ebedei, Beyond Limits FA (Remo stars), Simoiben, etc, etc. The last U17 Wafu B tournament saw our U17 side play the best and most breathtaking football of all sides even overcoming a more physically imposing and equally technical Burkina Faso side. The Ivorians in the Semis too were really tactically drilled but our lads overcame. Our U17 system at the national level is far from perfect but it has continued to yield genuine talents for us under the right consortium of coaches who select the best lads across the various finest grassroots academies in the country to drill them into one solid team schooled in the tactics and sciences of the game to the best of what our facilities can offer. Lads like Emmanuel Michael, Ebube Okere, Ozor Okeke, Basil Mbata, Abubakar Abdullahi, Light Eke, Precious Williams, Jibril Azeez, Raphael Oyebanjo, Miracle Ogwor, Yusuf Lawali, Jeremiah Olaleke, Richard Odoh are lads to keep eyes on currently ahead of the Next U17 Afcon coming up early next year. Of these lots, the likes of goalkeeper Richard Odoh, defenders Emmanuel Michael, Jeremiah Olaleke and Yahaya Lawali as well as striker Abubakar Abdullahi Idris, who scored a brace in the Final against Burkina Faso all made the WAFU B Team Of the Tournament. So we are raising our own local boys but it is still in an imperfect system. Hopefully things get better. HOPEFULLY. Barryseal: 3 Likes 1 Share |

Kog45: Outstanding quality remains quality it doesn't hide . Back to my long standing proposition, "Better a Lion in a lower league and club than an anonymous mouse in a top club and league " The blatant delusional double standard that surrounds Nwakali beggars belief. It is also hypocritical. Dude has been swimming deep in mediocrity for over 6 years and he has a few games for a low level club in a low level not so competitive league Segundo. And some are giving him accolades like he is the new Pogba. The Austrian and Belgium league are better but they are not in the top 5 in Europe. There are several Nigerian origin players in Championship which is just as if not more competitive than some of those league. But not one word about them. Since we decided to enthrone mediocrity why have we not heard anything about such players but we keep talking about a player who all he has is U17 youth cup glories. It's bewildering the level of emotive favouritism. And many here were vociferous lambasting me because I talked about Oviemuno, Onyedinma, Onomah, and Chuks years ago. But nobody talks about Championship players like Afolarin Alese, G. Osho,T.Iroegbunam, Rasheed Anjorin, Akpere-oghene Ekpiteta, Luke Amos, Bashiru, etc ,etc. l really do not think any of these players are SE quality. But we have lowered the bar so low ,why shouldn't they all be part of the discussion if we can be talking about player who still hasn't done anything in 7 years. People even talk about players in back water league of Europe with a 20 rating. Cause essentially Nwakali may not be better than any of them , that's the double standard and hypocrisy. 6 Likes |

zuchyblink: Cameroon do not do well in the world cup. The only tome they played well was in 1990. Ever since then, they have been poor. Ad usual they will not cross the group stage of this world cup. They can only do well in Africa. They are local champions 5 Likes |

Small boys doing it in top leagues, small time now em fit make the leap to arsenal or spurs while we continue hyping maestro The official website of the French Ligue 1 has unveiled a list of the top ten youngest players to feature in this season's top flight, with a player of Nigerian descent making the cut. Lesley Ugochukwu, nephew of retired Nigeria international Onyekachi Apam, ranks seventh on the list. The France youth international was aged 18 years and 148 days when he made his season debut off the bench against Ajaccio on August 21, 2022. The record holder for the season is PSG teenage sensation Warren Zaïre-Emery who was aged 16 years and 151 days when he made his senior debut on the opening day of the season against Clermont. Completing the top five are Lille's Leny Yoro (16 years and 286 days), Rennes Désiré Doué (17 years and 65 days), ESTAC Troyes' Wilson Odobert and ESTAC Troyes' Kyliane Dong (17 years and 314 days). Ugochukwu is the fifth youngest player to start a game in the Ligue 1 this season, aged 18 years and 176 days in the last game before the international break at Marseille. The French-Nigerian holding midfielder was named in the latest France U19 squad and was on the bench in a 2-0 loss to Portugal on Thursday. |

Emmy450: So also is every Nigerian player in Europe who has played half a dozen games for Thier club side. So why should his case be given preference and prominence when he has done nothing for 7 years essentially. What about the hundreds of players doing better and or comparable, not a word said for instance Lesley Chimuanya Ugochukwu. 4 Likes |

Cc Danielnino00 Quoting the post as seen BELOW where Lesley was mentioned is far better response. But again, entertaining these clowns is stressful. And the most irritating part is that close to a good half of the thread readers like it. They love being entertained by clowns like Komekn and his kom-minions. Enjoying it blinds many of them to the true analyses while they drink up all that substance-less nonsense from folks in the realm of Idiocy. TheSuperNerd: 1 Like 1 Share |

Someone like Chris, Nerd, and some others has been mentioning his name and how he's heir to Camavinga. If care is not taken and if we search deeply, we might find your comments opposing their views then. |

It is still a specific mystery. The fact that he was named to the squad initially and even sent an invite only for the invite correspondence to be canceled by the arrival of another correspondence informing the club of Yusuf's cancelled invite speaks volumes of the fishy nonsense going on at the NFF with the technical crew led by Peseiro. The theory by some is perhaps they are protecting some faces in the team. Midfielders and players with nothing more to offer and certainly not better quality-wise and tactical-wise compared to the Alhassans and Nwakalis. Danielnino00: 1 Like 1 Share |

Bukayo Saka: How we were ever close to getting this lad is quite something to be honest. Such a talent was always headed to England when he saw his profile rise even further. He is one of the few Anglo-Nigerians who will definitely have a fine long England football career. Possibly even longer than Dele Alli had. 2 Likes

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Barryseal: 1:34pm On Sep 23, 2022 |
TheSuperNerd: The truth is that we are not serious. Having a grassroot competition at U13 level is one thing, developing those talents in an elite environment with world class coaching and facilities is totally a different thing entirely. Currently, ONLY Remo stars have anything close to being fit to be called an academy. And Remo is still building, they aren't fully running at maximum capacity. In a country of 200 million, we need atleast 100 of these kind of facilities and academy spread across various states. England, a country of 67million have over 50 elite academies. Our football industry is largely under developed. If we develop a working football program with these elite academies and a proper league system from the Amateur div 1 to the Premier league to incubate these talents. Within a few years you will have tens of Nigerian players competing at the very top of Uefa competitions unlike what we currently parade. 1 Like 1 Share |

Alhassan will flop in Super Eagles. I have watched him play. I don't see him fit the profile of a National team player. However, Nwakali will excel in JP system. He is the type of DM/CM he needs. Can pass, shoot and dribble. I would have loved to see Nwakali and Iwobi's midfield 2 against Algeria. |
