daveP: Honestly, these home-based keepers are better than these foreign based. Unlike these foreign based that got into the Supereagles on a platter of gold, the home-based work very hard for their call-ups. I will put part of the blame in the NFF. The goalkeeper of the 2015 victorious u-17 should have been monitored by the NFF. He should have been helped in securing a good club in Nigeria and made an understudy in the Supereagles since 2015. By now, he would have been exposed to top-flight football. 1 Like |

Fun fact- Akpeyi might be the best of our present goalies. Who are the best NPFL keepers? Can't remember Ezenwa committing such school boy errors we are seeing lately. 1 Like |

gannod: The basis for national team selection should and is mostly based on consistent outstanding top level performance in your club and league. If you played youth football you need to transfer that skill set to the senior game it's not an be assumption. In 2009 Nigeria played the U17 world cup at home, out uncle almost won it. The Brazilian team didn't go far in the competition but thier players have like Coutinho and Neymar to mention a few . |

Okoye's blunder was something else, he keeps setting new records for errors. Our defenders have their own share of blame for the error committed by Okoye. They should have tried relieving the pressure on Okoye. They isolated him, they allowed those bodies close up on him without giving him the option of an easy passing of the ball to them, but Okoye still had other options to take, but insisted on the option that required a balling skill he doesn't have. |

komekn: What I am implying is that since we have identified the problem of the team, besides lack of creativity in the midfield, the goalkeeping department is the other problematic one. I felt any serious person in the NFF should have shown intetest in Udoh( u-17 world cup winner) and helped him build a good career to solve our goalkeeping problems. The guy has height, good reflexes coupled with the fact that he was a world cup winner. It would have really helped his confidence.De gea is a case study. |

Well, that's because we were the better team and that's because we did create chances. Algeria B or not, it had to be said. Didn't we struggle to do same vs lowly CAR at home in Lagos?? But what really needs to be pointed out is how we truly began to dominate and create enough chances only after Iwobi was introduced in midfield in the second half. In the first half, we actually didn't create so much. The Onyeka-Onyedika experiment isn't a way to go at all. Samueltemi337: 1 Like 1 Share |
