lavylilly:
what are you saying? If they don't ask you, inform them you have a question and in the event where you are coming from is far, request politely by asking them, "the question is , I don't know if you could support me with transport back home"

I have been to several interviews for Jobs in multinational companies and I have worked for five of them, I am usually paid handsomely after the interview to take care of the day, transport, or hotel.

You ask for it if you see it's not coming as a courtesy. The companies have always obliged.

I don't know any company that can invite me for an interview without giving me a handsome handshake afterward. Anyways, applicants get levels. It depends on your level

Actually, to an average Nigerian boss, your question is more imdictive than inquisitorial.
You know why we always pay attention to how people's comments have deeper meanings.

That same question could be captured thus: " I have observed team work amongst your staff. That's commendable and I really look forward to working with such a wonderful team. What's the secret sir?" grin

Dont you dare loose confidence on that.
you were rejected not because of the questions you asked, but because your class of degree was not suitable for the job.

The MD knew you will soon leave the company because you will surely get a better offer as per your degree.

keep searching and you will soon nailed the job and you will come here and share the testimony.

keep improving youself.

Yes you can ask questions, once asked a recruiter how does the company reward employee that works extra hard. Got the job maybe not the question but your question should be intelligent because it may determine your personal thinking.

It's good to always ask questions.

My favorite is...

How does it feels like to work in this organisation?

That question was completely irrelevant and not surprised you were denied.

Another question never to ask is "how much will you pay me".

I repeat
I repeat
You must ask questions, think of a good one and come prepared
If possible, print the questions on a sheet of paper and when the interviewer is done, make sure you ask a question/s
It shows you are ready for responsibility and would not be a drifter on the job
As for the ones who did not call you back, they are an unserious organization and you should be happy they didn’t employ you, make dem no go kill your fire

Absolutely, but it must be relevant, well presented, and a type of question that can boost your chances and make them happy and not the type that will jeopardise your chances!

Some naija employers behave like they own you. That question you asked is very harmless, however, how you worded it might be the problem. I've learned to limit my questions to those that look like I'm seeking the advise of the interviewer. Questions like:

What's are the 6 to 12 months expectations of the person hired for the position . This question should only be asked if not mentioned during the interview.

From your experience, what advise do you have for me based on my qualifications and my experience. This one go make their head swell. To them, they are experts and you are seeking from their ocean of knowledge grin grin.

In my own opinion, his question to the MD actually Meant:

I ONLY work only with companies that have Team Work spirit....
Does your company have this Quality?

Is it simply a see finish question...to the MD

Very easy scenario. The way you know wether your question is inappropriate is if there is only one expected answer. Let me ask you this question. If the MD answered and say, NO, WE DONT WORK AS TEAM, what would you say? At that moment, you would probably know you failed the interview because that would be a sarcastic answer. Why ask a question you know the answer can't possibly be No?

YES. YES. YES. It SHOWS THAT you are SERIOUS AND CURIOUS about the job. A candidate that does not ask question about the job or company will come off as unserious. They might think you are not the critical thinking type. Now who wants to hire a non-thinker?

Yes.
Questions like:
1. How much you go pay if it hasn't been mentioned before?
2. Una get retirement benefits or pension?
3. Any sick leave or maternity leave?
4. Working hours and day?
5. Accomodation go dey?
6. Extra work or extra hour allowances nko?
7. Una dey do refreshing courses?
Any firm I drop my CV, they marvel cos of my experience. I no even do job hunting again since I turned a lawyer.

If they send an offer letter, you can clarify some of these points. I never get the job I dey bother myself about unnecessary things
Re: Is It Right Or Wrong For A Candidate To Ask Questions (s) During An Interview? by chypotenti(m): 3:02pm On Sep 29, 2022
I don't think that's the reason why you were dropped... This is actually the reason why you were not picked... 1. The MD, after going through your CV, seeing your qualification's/class of Degree felt intimidated... 2. They feel they can't pay you knowing fully well you will leave them once you get a better offer...SHIKENA!!!!

Nice one. There is only one question that should be asked really. That question should show you understand the business environment. Example, How do we plan to upstage the No.1 in market share considering we are No.3 or so? Your interviewer then knows you have scanned the market and know exactly who your competitors are and willing to work with the rest of the team to upstage them.

The right question should be about what you will be working with.
Based on their answer You tell them if you have worked with that tool or technique and how yours fits in.

Yes, but if given the opportunity. It would be counted as rude in a formal interview to ask a question, especially when you are asked a direct question and not an open-ended one. Most formal interviews will usually end with asking you what you want to say and that might be the cue for whatever you have be it a question, clarification etc. cool cool cool cool cool cool

Nope, there is no team work in the organisation, they always fight before they can get things done in the organisation.

That's my point exactly. It may also be interpreted as: "if your company has no team work, don't bother employing me."

Well, that job wasn't for you. The question was in order, maybe the MD decided to give it to a less qualified candidate. Ordinarily, you not getting the job has nothing to do with the question you asked.
