Obi should focus on the South, targeting 75% of the votes from the SE and SS, while targeting 25% in the SW (except lag where he would do very very well). He should double up efforts in the middle belt states of Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Plateau, Benue and Abuja, as well as the core northern states of Kaduna, Adamawa, Taraba, Gombe, and Bauchi.

The Muslim northerners that will vote Obi have already made up their minds to do so, and they are very few. The others won't vote for him.

But that shouldn't be a problem because APC, Atiku and Kwankwaso will do so much splitting of the muslim north votes that it wouldn't be able to give anyone victory.

Obi should focus on North, try and northernise his dressing, and identify with them

those guys needs serious focusing on. they are my worries .

ANAYO EZUGWU reports on the division among some Yoruba leaders over support for the presidential candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Labour Party (LP), Bola Tinubu and Peter Obi, respectively Yorubas will vote massively for Jagaban, though as usual with our sophistication, Yorubas will never vote a singular Candidate, other parties will get votes in Southwest, that's the make up of how we vote,APC will win all 6 states but Labour and PDP will share the spoils, the votes ordinarily scheduled for PDP will now be shared with Labour party!

Obi will take 3rd as a 3rd force candidate in the next elections. Remember say Doctors went for 13 months strike when he was governor of Anambra state and he is blaming BUHARI for 7-8 months ASUU strike. Obi has nothing to offer

Greed is not good.
Yoruba do to others what you want them do for you. Our son Osibanjo is rounding up his tenure as VP, yet we want to still project Tinubu to take over. When SE start playing the games we are playing, you see people turn it into tribalism, bigotry and religion. If South East can't have it in 2023, then let the North continue to keep it until South decide to borrow some sense.

Afenifere endorses Obi

Despite some of these obvious facts, the leadership of Afenifere insists that the body will not compromise its principle of equity, justice and inclusiveness because Tinubu is in the race. Adebanjo, declared that the group and the South-West will support Obi because he is the man they trust to restructure the country back to federalism on the assumption of office in 2023.

I wonder how you came to your position!

Whether Cross-road or road-cross, Obi is a goal. Call me names and get barred by mods. If we really crave the Nigeria of our dreams, I see no reason why the presidency won't go to the south east this time. Fortunately, there's a formidable candidate from that region. Had the south east fielded Okorocha, Mr Ebeano or Uzor Kalu, I'd have made a u-turn. And if obi fumbles, he should remember what we did to Jonathan in 2015.

Any region who thinks if their region produces president, they'd be more favoured than other regions is a joker. Such people should remember the eras of Obj, Jonathan and North currently under Buhari. That's why we have a constitution and the NA in place. All we need is a leader who understands the Nigerian problem and can tackle it headon, not a bigot or power-drunk fellow. I won't join others in calling tinubu names. But all I can say, he shot himself in the leg cos of hunger for power. Nigeria is bleeding.

Both Tinubu and obi will still lose to North.

ANAYO EZUGWU reports on the division among some Yoruba leaders over support for the presidential candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Labour Party (LP), Bola Tinubu and Peter Obi, respectively

As Nigerians prepare for the 2023 presidential election, opinions are divided over who will win the poll among the four leading candidates – Atiku Abubakar of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peter Obi of Labour Party (LP), Bola Tinubu of All Progressives Congress (APC) and Rabiu Kwankwaso of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP). However, the centre of attraction going into the presidential race seems to be the South-West geopolitical zone as Yoruba elders are already at loggerheads over support for Tinubu and Obi.

While the Pan-Yoruba Socio-Political Organisation, Afenifere, led by Pa Ayo Adebanjo, has thrown its weight behind Obi, who hails from the South-East against a Yoruba son, Tinubu, some political watchers are of the opinion that the supposed endorsement by Afenifere will have little or no relevance in the outcome of the presidential election going by the voting pattern of the South-West, which normally go in one direction.

In 2011 and 2015 for instance, the zone voted in one direction, which led to the emergence of President Goodluck Jonathan and President Muhammadu Buhari respectively although in 2019, the pattern changed with the PDP making serious inroads into the zone, winning Oyo and Ondo states in the presidential election. Going into the 2023 presidential election and the growing popularity of Obi mostly among the youths, it is expected that the pattern might change again despite South-West having their son as one of the frontrunners in the exercise.

Omoibo and their Uzobulu analysis.

Jonathan and Buhari are not our sons, and we delivered for them.

But now that our Yoruba son is running for the post, we will just all of a sudden become irrational and vote Ibo. grin grin

How do ibos think for God's sake

We're voting Obi cos it makes absolutely no sense voting Tinubu. He's not even around to kickstart his own campaign, yet he's looking for presidency

Obi remained a consistent favourite in four geopolitical zones – North-Central, South-South, South-West and South-East, while Atiku was the poll leader in the North- East and North-West zones.

“Although Chief Falae admitted that it was true that the South East had not had the opportunity of being Nigeria’s President, it’s for them to persuade other Nigerians that they can offer something better than candidates from other geopolitical zones.

That is why we brought out the best amongst us.
We don't give heed to greedy politicians that are worse than plaques. Obi will stabilize this country for good. Don't think that if your tribesman wins, it will favour you and family.... Back to the matter,I hope Asiwaju's aides come to Nairaland to read comments,I think it's time for Us Asiwaju Die hard supporters to be realistic with what will happen Next year.
It's time to start making projections for Next year Elections.
The Task to elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be a battle, and it's time to start fighting Dirty.
The projections are very simple, whoever will become president of Nigeria needs to win only 17 states,I repeat only 17 states.
Asiwaju must be realistic about his projections, the North will betray him so he should stop the very crazy and futile effort of trying to please them.
My own Suggestions is for Asiwaju to concentrate on the 6 South-west states, and humble himself to make a deal with Gov Obaseki,Edo state is the only state that looks winnable outside the areas where ApC has Governors.
He should throw his resources into Cross Rivers and Ebonyi state.
Asiwaju will only be president if he can win at least 9 states in the South.
He should focus on these 4 States in the North Central, kogi,Kwara, Nassarawa and Niger.
For the North West and North East, only a Zombie will think H.E Atiku and Sen Kwankwanso will lose their states to Asiwaju.
He should only focus on winning four states in the North West and East.
Borno,Yobe,Kebbi and Gombe.
Only those 4 States look winnable.
I think Asiwaju supporters should start helping H.E Obi campaign, Peter Obi must scatter Atiku Vote in all the Eastern States and some South-south States.
Obi must win at least 3 states while Kwankwanso must win at least Kano and Jigawa.
This is the only route I see through which Asiwaju can ever become the President of Nigeria.
God bless Nigeria.
Tinubu is very aged and sick. Do you want a Buhari pro Max in Aso Rock?
In fact, information at my disposal confirms that Tinubu is in London hospital, seriously ill and might drop out from the contest.

A living dog is better than a dead lion. Tell Tinubu to go and rest.

Support Peter Obi because it is the turn of the South to produce a president. Dont vote for Atiku because he is a Fulani like President Buhari.

post=117295224:

Only ignorant mind can't read the current political atmosphere in West, go back and study 2019 presidential election, even when Osibanjo was on the Ticket, APC managed to win in Lagos after 2 extra days of massive rigging in Alimosho and other APC strong holds in Lagos, they gave PDP 200k gap, APC also managed to win in Ogun, they lost Oyo and Ondo, with Muslim-Muslim ticket and economy situations I pity Tinubu in West, he cousin few months ago lost in his home state Osun

Lol...You are busy comparing an election, where Yoruba is a running mate and also, a State affair where all aspirants are indigens of that State irrespective of their political parties....these two situations are your own yard stick to determine how Yoruba's will vote...you now curry your assertions with the Muslim-Muslim ticket Rhetorics... grin grin grin

Omo eni ko ni se idi bebere...Ka wa fi ileke s'idi Omo elomiran (one's child will not have a good body structure and you will put a befitting beads on another person's child)

SouthWest, Yoruba's will vote Tinubu...

You think Yoruba's are stewpid

SE-Igbos will vote Peter Obi and the Fulani extractions will Vote Atiku....It's is what it is..

Who will win...I don't know...but it's actually nonsensical to think Yoruba's won't Vote their Son..

As I type this...most indigenous clubs like Central Council of Ibadan Indigens and many big sociocultural subgroups in Yoruba land are for Tinubu...forget Afenifere's rhetorics.

Will these support be enough

For me...The Hausas and Middlebelts will determine who governs Nigeria Next.

2023 election shouldn't be based on ethnic affiliation or sympathy. Awolowo and his team of visionaries were the only leader who has the good of yorubas at heart. All this crop of new leaders chanting yoruba slogans are nothing but false pretenders, who neither has yorubas interest at heart, but rather that of their immediate families and cronies. Their behavioral pattern and antecedent, especially that of stupendous self enrichment, siphoning and conversion of public properties to private use, or acquisition of same at a give away price isn't the attribute of our patriarchs. If we want a new Nigeria, we must vote based on competence and character and accountability of the candidate involved and not otherwise. No place must be allowed for any candidate with a percentage of sympathy for hooligans or hooliganism.
