This post reminds me of the proverb - "Those who get their kolanut cracked by a benevolent spirit should not say their peers are not hardworking."

Enough said.

This saying comes in handy.

Really? that's bad.
I know two individuals that are also new, they got cheap insurance. They always recommend Marshmallow and all that, but I believe there is something more they do that they would not tell anyone because I have done everything they said but it's not working.

Perhaps the model and year of their cars are the factors for the insurance cost they got, also what’s your idea of cheap, do you perhaps have a budget range?

From most of your responses that I’ve seen, I think you don’t value other people’s opinion. You also read to respond without looking at things from the angle of the people who are affected mentally and financially by the housing shortage and therefore have to do what they can to secure a space. You do not know it all and your opinion is not facts, it’s just an opinion. So sometimes, read, digest and analyse before you respond. Please take this as a light hearted advise, no be quarrel. Hello Guys!

Please, for those that have insured their cars in the UK, please how did you get cheap insurance?
I have tried Marshmallow, Admiralty, elephants, RACs but I do get a high fee. I have reduced my annual mileage, uses international Drivers license. Please, if you know what I need to do, please let me know.
Thanks very much

How many years of driving experience did you put in the form?

What was the annual cost you were given by the insurance coys?

What is the make and year of the car?

Where will you be parking the car in the house and at work?

Any previous car insurance claims back home?

So I found this company that’s not hiding the fact that they offer sponsorship and they have a lot of openings, although based on the review on Glassdoor, they do not exactly pay too well. Anyway, apply away if you find a role that suits your CV and Experience - https://www.kwalee.com/jobvite cool

It is useful, provided it as evidence for NCD and it was accepted.

He never said it is not useful or can't be used for NCD claims, he rather meant premiums would be high using such.

I put 10years of driving experience.
My car is Peugeot 207, 2008 model .
The cheapest I have seen is £1600 for myself and my wife. I chose that I park the car at my Residential Parking at Night and at office parking during the day.
Total annual mileage 6000miles. I have not made any insurance claims back home, but if I chose it, they ask me to produce evidence.

How much are you getting.
My friend from Iran got £1k/annum on his international license but with black box. Without black box was £1,300/annum

That is fair, £66.6/ month for each driver, £800 annually for each on your current DL.
Also is any or both of you insured on another car or just the given above?

Pardon me if this has been addressed before.

If someone gets a remote job outside UK (but in Europe) without link to his NI or UK account. Salary is paid into his Nigerian account and he moves it to UK via lemonade/wise. Will there be an issue?

If you fall in the category of those who paid mortgage deposit as rent payment and you feel hurt about what I said, you need to leave emotions out, take charge and steer your affairs rather than allow situations and circumstances do that for you.

Just cos your emotion is hurt doesn’t mean you can’t decipher a right from a wrong.
And what do you understand by ‘been there, done that’ that I quoted to a reply ?
In simple terms, I was in that situation and how did I navigate, it’s a story for another day

If truths are simply waved aside as opinions, then folks like me would ve been led astray by opinions on this thread. But, you know what! those ‘opinions’ have been helpful.
What gladdens me is that most of those who paid M D as rent agrees with what I said but the bluntness is what they can’t take.

Only provisional licence can half that quote but
£1,600 isn’t bad because of the foreign DL.
You can still tweak around with some details to reduce it still to around £1,300.
I’m sure by the time you provide the NCD, it should reduce.

Okay, I will wait a bit and get my Provisional License. I have applied and have submitted my BRP. So, I am expecting it soon.
Thanks very much.

I got £680 per annum without blackbox with admiral insurance in January with similar condition as yours, except my wife wasn't in the insurance. When i passed my manual driving test, i updated it in their app without any payment.
Maybe you should give them a call...

One major factor is location. My insurance once dropped from £1200 to £700 because I relocated from Manchester to Devon

@AlphaUno Dismissing other peoples experience because you found it easier is in itself egocentric.. I had to change accomodation recently and I know what I went through. The fact that I did not not pay 1 year or even six month upfront, does not mean my friend who has been here for a year already and had to also change accomodation and pay one year upfront is silly or desparate. He was rejected twice with his 1 year payment. You can seat there and dismiss the struggle of peoples trying to get a roof over they and their families as lazy, thats fine but also realize that different realities exists for different people. Locations also give different experiences in same Uk. It might be easier to find a house in aberdeen than it is easier to find in london. Also you looking for a flatshare might get a place easier than one looking for a 3 bed for a family of 5 or 6. Different realities exist. DO NOT DISMISS PEOPLES EXPERIENCE!

NO, not entirely in regards to number, but gender does as other important factors. But the quote the op has is fair.

There's nothing anyone is doing that they are hiding from you.

The decision is made by an algorithm that works on the basis of a multitude of data points including your own age/experience/license type and also the car type, age, engine size/mileage etc etc.

There are so many variables, and your circumstances are just different from theirs. Try changing things around as best you can - like checking for another car model etc, and then working to get your NCD to reduce the price down the line.
