Note that I'm now on 217k miles. Got it at almost 200k miles.
This talk about reliability is really for people who do not know how to maintain their vehicles.
I can wake up at 3am and decide to hit Asaba without fears.
Some of your so called reliable cars will not dare.
How many Japanese cars in Nigeria are over 200kmiles without Christmas lights all over their dash?

If truly your ride was imported with above 200k miles and it’s been simple maintenance ever since for you then you’re luckily among the 10% of bmw high mileage owners who haven’t been touched by the devil within the beast wink

Even online reviews about bmw from the ones who use them new before shipping to us down here say the exact same story

1st pic : Chai! See beautiful cluster design and lighting kiss As if I should toast your car away from your hand cheesy

2nd pic : kai! shocked Ugly, ugly, masquerade cluster design angry What rubbish . . .

But seriously

Assuming the design was inverted whereby the hideous red type was visible in the daytime and the white was displayed at night I’d give your ride a 90% pass mark wink

The layout is nice . . . But the light pattern is just meeh sad
One can actually code it to operate that way. But naa... I love this way.

Got it at 197k miles. The maintenance history was 95%. Single owner who did a lot of interstate travel.

You should read the reviews from European owners. 350k miles on BMW diesel engines without any major part replacement is very common.

North Americans just don't have the temperament and skills to maintain BMW's.

I agree with the bolded above. They are the ones who give the most reviews online concerning that brand.

But if yours truly came from America I’d say you’re one lucky sonfabish to have it so pristine and with a history of just one owner.

If bmw are truly worth the hype, why don’t commercial vehicle operators and fleet management use them like the way Japanese vehicles are used. Try using a BMW for bolt or Uber for 4months if it survives it, come tell me how much you spent on maintenance and let a bolt or Uber operator using a Corolla bring his own maintenance log book too!

Don't be ridiculous. You can't see that happen because .cheap fake parts don't exist for BMWs..

1. I don't drive a Toyota.
2. I had access to and drove an e90 for an extended period of time. E46 too from same owner.
Something was always broken at one time or another.
3. I don't drive a Toyota currently but I'd still buy one today.
4. I drive an Acura currently and it's more than capable. In it's day, it was head and shoulders above anything the Germans had to offer in the same engine capacity and vehicle class (in terms of handling, speed etc).
5. Reliability ratings on the internet do not lie.
I can get up and go just about anywhere at anytime with my Acura. No one that I know of who owns a BMW can do that without needing major repairs for one or two issues.

BMW make good cars (I'd own one if I had all the time to entertain mechanics) but to praise them to high heavens on reliability is folly.

Like I told you earlier, hype your brand. Leave the useless comparison alone.

Lejeun works on Range Rovers and does so quietly.

Sooperrescue attempted what you are doing now and it didn't end well.

Wrong assumption. The owner owns a Range Rover and he is fixing it because of Lagos traffic robbers so that they will not focus on him in traffic. The car is full options except for AC. It is going to cost over 200k to put back on the road. As for the BMW, it is a good car. My first ownership was 25 years ago, a 320 series and it was a gift but bringing it to Nigeria was not advisable then and still is. I had the privilege to service the BMW 5 series of the top echelon of the Nigerian Customs in Abuja years ago and it was not funny. Unfortunately for the brand, they have been forced out of the roads, no matter the performance. I only know Dr Ben of Automedics and the late Madmike who knows the car in and out. BMW, Audi, VW, Acura are building permanent structures in Mechanic workshops and Owode, Mercedes is following suit. Just move to Range Rovers. Nice too says lejeun is fixing the brand quietly without looking for tees garage on Nairaland, Instagram and Facebook. Fuel is the major problem of the BMW and nothing else

Owner is fixing it for his own security not that he has a connection to the car or enjoys driving it ..see .same as my assertion on the taxi drivers i.e driving it out of necessity.

I don't think fuel is a problem for BMWs except for the m versions which I'm not sure of .
You're right on looking for tees garage on the internet .people have made up thier minds about BMW in Nigeria .,south Africans like the brand .they are more open minded about the brand although BMW has a plant there and it's easier to get thier hands on new ones .I think that's the reason they don't take about that reliability bla bla bla
