The disciples who Jesus said that to didn't just start uttering gibberish nonsense in the name of speaking in tongues as most do today but they patiently waited and the difference was clear.

I heard so many pastors, gospel artist and religious leaders called speaking in tongues a heavenly language, it is a lie and i totally disagree with that. Speaking in tongues is me being a Yoruba, the Holy Spirit fall upon me and i prophecied in a language i don't understand, maybe French Hausa Igbo ibibio efik Spanish language and there must be someone in that gathering who understands the language the Holy Spirit prophecied with and it's the Holy Spirit that will appoint the interpreter. You’re absolutely right, I remembered a sister in a new generation church invited me to their cell meeting. She never knew I was a child of a pastor so on getting there then they all started praying then the leader said now everyone should start speaking in tongues. I opened my eyes and I was looking at them. The leader again said there is someone in our midst not speaking then I told the sister that it seems you don’t understand what it means to speak in tongues. I never followed her again to her cell meeting.

That's one reason I give it for Deeper Life Church... All these things aren't given place there... Because of the excitement speaking in tongues gives, it can easily turn a peaceful service into an incoherent one. Even the Bible says, "Let all things be done decently and in order", these include worship services.
Of a truth, the proliferation of a gift that edifies a person, to take centre stage in service, instead of "Holiness without which no man shall see the Lord", can only come from the Devil.

2. Where exactly is it written in the Bible that Christians should sing in tongues? Is there anywhere in the Bible the Apostles did? I know pentecostal christians will mention 1 Corinthians 14:15 but is that what Apostle Paul was really saying in that passage?

3. Why were the ancient gospel songs not incorporated with unknown tongues as we have now? Could it be that modern Christian worship has been hijacked by strange spirits?

Better dive under that table! "Hot christians" are coming for you. Don't you know speaking in "tongues" is good marketing? How do you expect a church to be noticed as being "spirit filled" among about 20 others on the same street if they don't scream in "tongues"? That is modern "Christianity" for you.

op this same question you've asked are the same questions I've been burning to get an answer to. Infact, is it the way the present speak in tongues that the ancient speak in tongues? That portion in Corinthians even adviced we prophesy instead of speaking in tongues but most churches have made speaking in n tongues the criteria for being recognized as a member. I know a denomination that will never give any serious position to you in church in if you don't speak in tongues. We don't understand these tongues like in the days of the pentecost or any interpretation.

The gift of tongue should be for edification of the church. Demons and witches do speak in tongue so we need to be care on songs we listen to.
As for me I don't listen to songs that speak in tongue (as I'm been lead by the spirit of God).
Those song can bring a spiritual Christian down. Be care.

If u pray in tongues unknown to you, who are you communicating with. Or is the god you communing with don't understand the tongues you understand and speak fluently?...
The scripture has made it self clear that God is not an author of confusion so any unknown tongues spoken in the gathering of two or three in the presence of God must be interpreted to the hearing and understanding of everyone.
Uninterpreted spoken tongues is of the devil and scripturally i can prove it over and over again to you.
We black people we are good in quoting the scripture but understanding it is the difficult thing because we want to understand the scripture base on our ideology forgetting that the scripture says " the word of God is revealing". In proverbs 3:5 the Wise King Solomon strictly instructed his son to "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not unto thy own understanding of things". In other words he was telling his son that if his education, idea, knowledge etc is contrary to the Word of God, he should lean to the Word of God and let go his Education, idea, knowledge. Though it's not a bad to aquire education, idea and knowledge it's a good thing and will help you to meet people of great intellect and also make living a little better for you but the Word of God is Life and to know it is Life and God say you should know Him for He is the Word. I always Believed that when we die God will not require from us our education, knowledge, idea or degree but what he will require from us is our understanding of God's Word while we were alive.
