Why do you think the god from the Bible is the real god when we have over 5000 religion?
That they are way ahead of us to detail the words of God in books, animal skin doesn't mean ours is inferior.

The old testament way of religion is very similar to our own, they sacrifice lambs and fruits to god and we do the same here. So what is the difference?

The Arab Islam sacrifices rams to God but if we do the same it's seen as idol worshipping why?

China wouldn't have been what it is today if they let other people's religion sink into their culture.

Well said. You have a good point

This festac was what enthroned Satan in Nigeria, Today Nigeria is one of the countries that Satan have office in. I speak by divine Revelation.
From 77 till now Nigeria began to go downward. Because people in their ignorance welcome the devil to take over their country.

You took the words out of my mouth. How do you celebrate being a prosperous nation by hosting one of the biggest gathering of idols (and gods) in the name of Arts and culture? This reminds me of what Apostle Paul said about 'curious arts' by pagans in Ephesus before their conversion ( Acts 19:19). This is to tell you Nigeria played host to more than want she imagined. Since then, the once blossoming nation has lost its relevance and spiralling down the depth of misery and woes. Only few people would understand.

According to MUMMY G. O (Evangelist Funmilayo Adebayo), the festac 77 festival was used to introduce demons, evil spirits and satan to Nigeria.
Festac 77 was not an African cultural games or festival but a satanic festival.

For Africa, their policy has always been to have it remain a supplier of raw materials for western industry. And they go to every length to maintain that, including imposing import restrictions and high tariffs on goods manufactured in Africa (No tariffs on raw materials though).

Maybe, maybe not. But west extracted many countries and today, majority of those countries are doing well..

The real blame is on Nigerians, all of us. (Politicians, civil servants, business men, etc)..

Nigeria still has what it takes to be great, but corruption too much. Look at Bayelsa fort example, the state has never been good the way it suppose to, despite the huge resources from FG monthly... Can you still blame the white for this?

is it the west that made the people to vote the present crop of leaders we have into office? Even when it was apparent that they lack the basic qualities but we did anyway on the basis of ethnicity and religion. We should learn to take responsibility for our actions and stop blaming others.

Infrastructure decay started after the federal capital moved to Abuja. There is a lingering dispute over who should be responsible for the estate - Lagos State or the Federal Government (through the Federal Housing Authority).

FESTAC Town is in urgent need of rehabilitation.
Re: Remembering FESTAC 77, Nigeria's Biggest Party by semitunde: 2:34pm On Oct 17, 2022
Festac is still the best planned estate in the country to date. Many of the infrastructure were messed up by the military and their lackeys though.
1. Underground sewage and flood water drainage system with mechanical sewage system plants stationed and working to put clean water into the manmade canal and green areas surrounding the town.

2. Underground electrical supply system. With equipments to spot and pinpoint where a cable underground might be faulty. The transformers stations were so ahead of their time that it had emergency backup light to work in the stations when there was no light ( which was rare at the time). The transformers were housed and had several gadgets to make sure fault from any close or block can be located, isolated, and worked upon with minimal fuss.

3. There were traffic lights everywhere. And they were so we'll programmed that there were hardly and strain waiting on a red light. It taught me from that childhood to always wait on a red light because my dad would always wait.

4. There were so many interconnecting roads that it was not possible to have a hold up in festac at that time. There were always options.

5. There were phone booths everywhere, and they worked. You had coins? You can call anywhere in the world if you have the phone number.

6. Phones in every block of flats for emergency. This was actually phenomenal. And yes, they worked. Not that we as children at that time knew what it was for. We probably damaged it while playing with it. lipsrsealed

7. There were play areas everywhere. These had things like swings, seesaws, slides and other children play things. You can't walk for 15minutes and not find a play area to rest or play at. This was one of the first things subsequent military juntas focused on and destroyed. They sold or built on almost all the play areas to the extent that residents started physically resisting without success people that bought lands. There were areas earmarked for further development, but those in government wanted the already developed part of the town and decided to mess up infrastructure as a means to that end. They built over several underground electrical and drainage nexus ( which were located in the play areas for easy servicing) that festac started having drainge and electrics issues that could only be solved if they removed the huge mansions built on top of those places. Of course the owners with connections in government resisted. In the end, festac had to abandon the still working underground system, cut the trees lining most of the roads, so as to install overhead election lines and transformes. The original festac transformers were mostly stolen piece by piece by NEPA workers. Equipments for maintenance were stolen too.

8. It's the only estate that actually brought together and intermingled homes of different and diverse financial levels. It made any resident of festac, whether poor or rich, very confident in outlook to life. They've seen the best. You couldn't oppress them with even pictures of other places. There were always similar or better places to point to in festac.

9. Those luxury buses mentioned in the thread were true. I remember my mom would take me walking to 5th avenue to take a bus. That was their last busstop then. It was still called last busstop for a long time after the buses stoped coming. But a change of route by danfos meant 5th avenue became less popular as they preferred going through 23 road.

10. Most festac resident then were used to walking around. No bikes. Keke marwa didn't exist. But most importantly, there were trees lining both sides of every road such that you hardly feel the sun and would walk long distances to visit friends without feeling the strain. Festac is very big. But as children, we would take long walks to far places without thinking twice about it.

11. The canal was a good fishing spot for both adults and children. Since the water going into it was both from storm runoff and treated sewage, many people took it as just a normal river encircling festac and going all the way to Apapa.

12. The only town were you could actually find people from ALL parts of the country staying together. The education from this, you can't get in in any book. You'll hardly find any festac person, especially of my generation holding in to tribal beliefs or tribalism because you just have too many of friends and neighbors from other tribes!

Talking in detail about how things were messed up along the way is a long discourse in it's own that showed and shows Nigeria's selfishness, shallowness, nepotism, greed, and all other bad traits especially in people who should be leaders.

It's not that easy to explain but after that festac the economy suffered. Too much padding in budgets and embezzlement was high.

Nigeria never recovered from it again till date

You're talking rubbish and telling lies.

The economy did not suffer after FESTAC. The economy boomed and boomed for a full 6 years after FESTAC until the world oil price crash of 1982 sent the country into recession. The country felt only a little pain because it had hefty savings from previous years. But the economy began to bite around '84 and '85 when Gen Babangida now went to the IMF for the infamous IMF loan bailout.

The country implemented the IMF 'remedy', the Structural Adjustment Programme (SAP). The IMF gave Nigeria various 'conditionalities' such as devaluation of the naira, spending cuts, and liberalisation of trade, ie opening the Nigerian market to all manner of foreign imports. Many developing countries at this time went for the same SAP as their economies struggled. The programme was controversial as it led to many economic problems for countries. That was the beginning of economic travails in Nigeria, and it had absolutely nothing to do with God supposedly being angry with Nigeria for celebrating African culture at FESTAC 77.

You are a walking dunce and airhead with no brain.

Over a billion Indians observe their traditional religion daily.

It often involves worshiping of cows and other animals.

So why has India been the fastest growing economy on Earth for the last 20 years?

Why has God not rained down curses and misfortune on them?

I have met Asians who are christians, muslims etc.

One thing they NEVER DO is trash and insult their traditional religions.

It is only Africans (specifically Igbo Nigerian christians) who do this.

Who cursed you to hate yourselves and background/history to this extent?

You're mentally sick but don't even realise it.

Very stupid assumption.

The white man had Christainity yet they enslaved your people for 400 years

The Arabs had Islam yet they enslaved Africa for 1300 years and they haven't stopped, there is underground SLAVERy going on in UAE as we speak.

You all go to church and vilify your ancestors by casting out some imaginary curse with the white man's religion, if that's not stupidity I don't know what it is.

As if the Religious practices by modern day clerics and pastors in Nigeria is even genuine.

Alfas are selling charms and giving fake prophesies.

Pastors are doing fake miracles, building schools with public tithes and offerings and making it private, they have no hospital, no motherless baby homes, no food bank, little or no humanitarian services yet they go around cruising on private jets and do not follow their own teachings.

Black Brothers are killing their kinsmen in the name of Islam, if that's not stupidity I don't know what it is.

Free yourself from colonialism and Religious reconditioning.

Honestly, some of them are so far gone in their self hatred and racial inferiority complex, it is a fruitless task trying to reason with them.

The white man did a real job on their heads.

I don't know why many are willing to do what you've done here - blame others for our own failures. It's a lie, and it is irresponsible, as it reduces our powers to solve the issues we face.

Take slavery. White man arrived at the port by the sea waiting for us to go into the interior and kidnap our own people to come and sell to them, but instead of blaming us the seller, we insist on blaming the buyers.

Take electricity. We refuse to learn to say "let there be light" so the light comes on, but we want to blame the west for us living in our own self-imposed darkness and crying NEPA.

Take jobs. Instead of making things for ourselves, we prefer to go and buy tokunbo abroad, thereby providing jobs for those in tokunboland while our own people have no work.

One day, our suffer will reach to the point where we decide to be responsible for its alleviation. I just hope it's soon and before our children stone us for being irresponsible.

Then you can drive straight from 7th Avenue to Alakija, I don't know if the spelling right, most of those places are where you have majority of the culprits you mentioned..
