If it’s not doable, I won’t bring here, just be plain and say I can’t do it, stop making wrong conclusion for everyone, I have many who work 8 to 5pm minus traveling time, extra work from office and still finished. in life you can’t be great without making sacrifices and everyone have what they are willingly to make sacrifice for and becoming a developer isn’t one for you smiley. Did it come easy for you moving from rentals to owner, how many months or years/ discipline did you sacrifice for that? Enjoy Driving grin
Point is alxafrica is not the only place one can learn it for free, I appreciate you bringing it up here and i liked your post within a split of a second then copied and pasted the course on my browser.
When I saw 70hrs in a week I broke it down to 10hrs every blessed day (weekends inclusive) or 14hrs daily (weekdays only). None is okay in my opinion, we have other platforms like coursera, allison and others that offer free courses at your own pace so what are we talking about?

Let me drop a motivational speech even though am yet to arrive at where I want.

2021was really a crazy year for me as rabbit farmer for over 2years as the business that was raking me hundred of thousands of naira was affected seriously by a VIRUS (RHD Virus) so I lost almost 80% of my rabbits that were over 150 so after all ways to get a vaccine prove abortive, I decided to quit and do bolt as two of my neighbors in the same compound were doing bolt as at that time and they encouraged me, I was having a Toyota Sienna which was also used to distribute rabbit feeds as I was a sole distributor for Bella rabbit farms in Lagos, I didn’t have much to buy a car for bolt so I started by registering my sienna for InDriver, I did that for about 2months and was only moving in between the mainland especially around areas I know traffic situation, at the end I concluded that ehailing was a profitable business, I sold my sienna , sold two of my galvanized cage and got an Hyundai elantra (toks) a dealer friend at 1.7 in which I paid 1.2 and promised to balance the 500k in two months. Then July 2021 I started ehailing (bolt) officially and I was welcomed with surge, I made almost almost 700k as gross in my first month, mind you bolt percentage was still just 15%. So I was happy and vowed to make a large undisclosed sum by the new year to invest into a business..,

Na so the business start, I worked like a jackal even though I would sleep at home as I had a wife and a daughter even during those 6months , I was hardly there for them as I would leave he early and come back late (not later than 12midnight) except for December period where I would work till early morning, I was even lucky to be among those who pick 3.5 surge early morning of January 1st and worked till morning.

To cut long story short, I was thinking of what to invest in by January as I was having some millions in my account so i used some for forex and crypto, lost some, won some around April a friend who had travelled to Uk holla and told me he was getting it right as the loan he took for the travelling with his two kids and wife has been paid and he is hoping to pay his wife school fee balance. That moment I considered traveling and started admission for my wife we got that in May the other processing started, at that time Ramadan fasting came so I wasn’t driving and even try to get some one to drive my car.

During the last 10 days I spent in solitude in the mosque as the Muslim religion permits, I was able to make up my mind and said I was going into IT as I didn’t want to do a career job in the Uk so I started with free courses on coursera via Financial Aid, I was living on the money I had saved and also processing the travelling, bought enough data, fuel and was learning like crazy, by the time we would leave for Uk 4months later, I already had cert with Google, IBM, Microsoft, Amazon which were purposely targeted as I had gone through their job websites and learnt about certification that really matters.

Now in the Uk with a plenty offers for jobs as an IT support but am still cherry picking looking for an offer with a sponsorship Visa and still learning like mad. Bagging certification and all.

Like I said above I haven’t arrived where I want but I just want to encourage us that Planning, Sacrifice and Discipline are great tools to success. And nothing is not doable if you know where you are going and plan accordingly..

Apologies for the long write Up

God bless!!!.
God bless you too for the enlightenment, and may God take you where you really want to be. Congratulations on the little you have achieved so far (though it's big in my own opinion lol)

Then how are those doing it doing it? It is trust me, the 10hrs doesn’t have to be at a stretch and also it’s not live classes, it has to do with watching videos and reading materials for the course then you take up weekly task, it’s a bit flexible. A skills such as software engineer will stand the end of time and I can assure anyone who learnt it well of soft life after that one year. Software engineers are among shortage lists of occupation in third one country. Getting this course for free is already a bonus as many pay hundred to a thousand of dollars for such certification.
Oh I thought it would be at a stretch, It is achievable then. Thanks again for sharing, respect boss.

Your location matters.
I don't know PH very well but the rule is;
In d morning position yourself in high brow residential areas. When u pick a trip to a commercial or corperate area, find your way back to a residential area.
In the afternoon position yourself around companies or offices till closing time.
In the night locate the big clubs, popular sitouts, event centers till d day is over.
My man, how's dead bolt treating you these days on weekdays?

Lolz...those are 3 half days equivalent to 2days full time. How is bolt dead?
If u are talking about more rest on Indrive, that's a discussion that I will like to hear. What I responded to was show it's still business as usual.

And u can still make good money on Bolt without entering dead zones. Like me, I don't go beyond Berger, Ikeja, surulere, Chevron on weekdays.

If u have 2m, there are better cars u can get and have peace of mind and dignity. Buying a car is different from driving what is available. Don't throw your money away.

What I mean is, it doesn't have to be toks.
U can get a neat and sound naija used car for that amount that can serve other purposes other than ehailing.

Good Day Everyone.

I've been reading the thread and I'm really happy we have people here with experience.

Please I need your advice, I'm currently working in a company where my salary is about 70k and I work Mondays to Saturdays.

I own a Toyota Car and I registered Bolt just last week, started working last week too just in the evenings. Because my work is 8 to 6PM. So what I've been doing are just evening Trips, 6 to 10pm at most then I go home. But since I started, I've really been considering quitting my job and go into Bolt full time.
What do you guys think?

If your current job have low to zero career growth prospect...I will be of the side of you quitting and driving full time, as you can make more than you currently earn monthly driving full-time, reading it's your car gives you a strong edge....but kindly know, this work, just like every other work has its attendant downside too.....

The real decision lies with you, since you have already tested the water temporarily, let you instinct and experience so far fuel your decision.

Cheers

1. Is your car still sound? If not, driving full time will expose it in no time.

2. Do you have savings that you can fall back on if your car breaks down as that would be your only source of income once you quit your job, If you have what you think is enough as savings then feel free to dive in. If your car is not problematic and you are hardworking (It already shows you are) you should make your 70k salary in a week.

Best of luck

It used to do that like once in 3/4 days, but for like 2 days now, it happened on each day work consecutively, but na once e dey happen on each day.
Once it happens like that, I would park and turn off the engine and wait for like 5-10 mins, then I start it and move and it will come back to normal (rectifies itself).
My suspicion has always been the transmission fluid, but the oil is well guaged and clean.

Cheerful heaven bless your union !

See people living their lives and forging ahead. Even a fellow comrade . . . What’s that his name again self . . . ndubuisi something something that later married one of his ehailing passengers wink

Ehailing can be many things but never a waste of time or productivity , we have always needed transportation services (right from the donkey ages) and we will always need it (right to the flying car age)

The truth is this, no job/business/hustle is bad, best of worse. Every job has its own challenges, good time, bad time and cashout time.

There is always a time to call.it quit in every race in life, no one does one job or business for ever in life. Life is progressive irrespective of spiritual, political or geographic challenges.

Even the Holy books says, there's a time to show and a time to reap/harvest
A time to cry and a time to be happy
...
There are stages in live change is constant and anyone who doesn't grow in life simply has no business living.

Ehailing is one in a million hustles in the world, not everyone will do the same job, not everyone would be president, neither would everyone be a doctor.

But, show me a beautiful miss world and I'll show you a husband who is tired of crewing her... Irony of life!

Everyone of us interest in this job will fade away one day, my has faded away already, izzuo, carshoppers, eherbal, Gazzuzz, jessusson, name them, it's a sign of growth. If you still find yourself doing this job actively after 5yrs then it's a sign you're not growing because it's not business any right thinking person should do for long, nevertheless, it's never a bad job at some point.in once life.

Ehailing opened my insight to the business i'm currently doing, so I'll be the worst hypocrite advising anyone who wishes to go into it especially if they see it as their only option. You can't make decision for people, allow them make their decision because you won't be there when they're being faced with challenges.

I still drive, yes! My offline clients still call in and make bookings and thank God for my current business which give room and time to accommodate other routine jobs.

Every business has its challenges but the only that keeps one going is the passion and joy of it.

I didn't buy my car from proceeds of ehailing please you guys should stop the misunderstanding, but I meet good people and bad people and I'm grateful to God for helping me to go through this path of ehailing because it's a part of my testimony and nothing will ever take it away from me.

For those of you who believe having you own car is freedom in totality I really pray for you, especially those on rental and HP. The truth is, it's better off starting with your own good car with the passion and the initial energy than starting as a rental/HP unto an owner because by the time you'd become an owner you would have ran out of passion and energy to continue the sprint.

Ehailing is not a bad job neither is it a business for anyone but for the ehailing coys so you driving find you own business your children will inherit and build upon.

In what ever you do, be yourself, open your heart and mind to opportunities. The Almighty one blesses men from what they do... Note my words, from what they do and not with what they do. If you have this understanding you won't underate anyone in life.

For this reason we have seen bread hakwer becoming a millionaire, a child beaten and Chase out if school crying becoming a billionaire, a bricklayer become a real estate owner...

Open your mind my people
