There are six other nigerian players that havent played, she doesnt get an automatic ticket cause she's foreign based, if you've watched her play and seen she has something to add to the team, then that's different.

she has trained in better academies so she should be given game time even if its 5 minutes..

Anytime the U:S:A players were on the ball especially Suarez and Onyeka Gamero they had messi-like close control and were toying with our players..

I haven't watched her play...

You have to give it to the girls' defending, they allowed only 4 shots on target in the last 3 matches.

To be sincere, it was more of waste on the usa side than our prowess st defending. We didn't have a single successful clearance from all their 15cornerkicks. Not even a catch by our goalie, compared to theirs. Our fullbacks did much more better than our CBs and i commend them for that. Many times our defence line were more concerned with keeping a line than marking a body. As usual, usa couldn't capitalize.

This takes nothing away from their resilience. But we have to say it as we saw it. This win won't even allow us look at the performance of both our forwards. We take the win and move!!

I'm not pessimistic... I'm realistic... I can never hate on my own girls..

usa did too now. I guess any team sending usa/Brazil home will hate high confidence to do anything at this stage. And we just did.

As long as Flamingoes don't become over-confident...

daveP:

The first two pks from both sides had early reaction that needed retaking. I guess the ref was signalled to warn them for the 3rd. Glad Jiwuaku listened asap. Almiral want dey do intimidation by giving the ball to our pk takers. grin

you're right.

D girls were just resilient, more like an inner mind set to qualify and defensive wise,Dey had good positioning to nullify threat hence leading to more cornerkicks to d

They were even clearing the ball in the center circle midfield of the U:S:A side of the pitch grin grin grin

But if the girls lost it's not luck or anything it's because the coach is not good right ?

good defending requires luck ooo..

Folorunsho wanted to block a shot by sliding and she ended up deflecting the ball into the net.. that's how U:S:A scored...

Another shot also hit Edafe's leg then also head and almost ended up deflecting into the net...

so good defending also requires luck cheesy cheesy grin grin

i think FIFA should consider reducing the circumference of the ball for gals grin, our gals are finding it so difficult to kick the ball just as US too

A lot of sane people proposed reducing ball circumference, pitch size and goal post for the women's game, but most of those suggestions were shut down so that they won't look like misogynists.

Implementing those three things will speed up the women's game play and make it look at par with the Men's game in terms of quality

Immediately I saw that American players started shooting from outside the box in the second half I knew their coach had run out of ideas at that point but yet, their coach na master our own na dodoyo.

That's Aliima ALASE ATTERVALL. She's Swedish but represents Nigeria internationally. She plays as a defender.

That’s an impressive stat. In other words, they allowed one shot on target every 67 minutes. Insane!!

Opeyemi Ajakaiye was poor today.
She played as if she was not part of the team. When the ball couldn't reach you, why not just drop deep and overload the Midfield. You can't utilize your pace by staying upfield.
It might be due to the coach instructions.

This match was the exact opposite of the U-20 semifinal between Nigeria and the USA in 2012.

In that game, the Falconets dominated play in terms of attacking moves, possession, and attempts on goal. But the Americans won 2-0. Essentially, Naija did the playing while the US did the scoring grin

I’m happy our U-17 girls finally got luck on their side after narrowly missing out on semifinal spots in 2010 and 2012.
Speaking of the 2012 team, I believe they are the best women’s U-17 side that Nigeria has ever produced. That team had excellent individual players, and good cohesion on the pitch.

Yes, she didn’t live up to expectations today. But, as you said, it may have been the coach’s instruction for her to remain upfield in case a loose ball from our box reached her.

Don’t mind those woke folks.

I cannot see a reason why FIFA can’t go in the same direction as both FIBA and the international volleyball federation that both reduced the weight and circumference of their balls. Even in volleyball, the net is a little lower in the women’s game.

For women’s football, I’ll propose reducing the weight of the ball by about 6 pounds, and reducing the circumference of the ball. The height of the goalposts can be reduced by 6inches as well.

It was so easy to cut off passes sent to her during the second half. This coach needs serious panel beating

Winner of Tanzania vs Colombia.

If Tanzania wins, we would have an all-African Semis battle.
