The simple truth here is people who ask such question like you never had a king in your ethnic group that may have had any historical fit...

Even if the British decide to abolish the monarchy completely the world would protest including america to keep it ,kings who made history would always give pride and relevance to the people, it's unfortunate the tribe you came from never had a notable king grin

The Benin oba will be reserve till the end of time they are so many things the relevance of the oba has kept in Edo state

So shut up and leave this post instead commenting with jealousy you shouldn't be in this thread in the first place because you tribe may not even have a King but here you are ...asking useless question out of hatred

The most revered and respected is The Oba Benin,

Historically the most powerful is still the Oba of Benin both military and spiritually ...
Although presently having no governmental power

This picture should help you calm down.

In Nigeria, Ọọni is the head of traditional rulers from the South while Sultan is the head in the North; they are both Co-chair person of the traditional council of Nigeria.

All the rulers mentioned taced their origins to Oduduwa. Obi of Onitsha traced his to Benin; Oranmiyan of Oduduwa house from Ifẹ gave birth to Oba of Binin.

Yorubas, the largest group in the South and beyond see Ọọni as their paramount spiritual Oba and leader compared with others mentioned kings and the numbers of their subjects. Virtually every state in Yorubaland is bigger in population than Bini population in Edo.

However, the 3 rulers of Ife, Benin and Oyo are Oranmiyan's children and Ife is the source. Although Oba of Binin is now ruling Igodomigodo and there are lots of revisionism going on by typical igodomigodo person but a sensible person knows right.

And Oduduwa FKA Izoduwa was a Benin prince from Edo so this fact alone makes everything you typed senseless

Keep your facts to yourself bro..you are not talking to an ignoramus
I know a lot about the cultural controversies between Edo and the Yoruba’s so don’t give me your own version when the version of Ekaladeran or Izoduwa or Oduduwa seems more plausible

Okay if Benin traces their origin to Oduduwa, were did Oduduwa come from
Is it the sky with chains...

See maybe The Ooni has the oldest history ..maybe

But the question is who is more revered ..we all know it’s the Oba if Benin who till date no politician can play with even the Governor of Edo state prostrate to him
And all his chiefs respect him without question

Also o repeat historically the Oba was far more of an Overlord than the Ooni who was said to have more of a spiritual influence than military in the old times

Regarding the Picture it means nothing except who represent the culture over more ethnic population in present Nigeria...
The question is who is more revered

His wife is fine. I am still wondering what they actually do. Do the politicians even listen to them? When Sanusi called out his governor they removed him and dismantled the emirate over one man’s greed. Does this mean all these monarchs on seat are just keeping quiet.

Not Olu of Warri but the Nana of Itsekiri. Besides, the word Olu reveals the fact that he's from the Yoruba ethnic stock, meaning he's a migrant Prince to the Warri Kingdom.

In the south, it is the Igbos if you add Ika,Ikwerre and other Igbo groups in rivers state.

You cannot say for a fact this is the case, Edo south which is the Binis domain did as high as 1.3million in terms of voters registration in 2019. We cannot say the same for Ekiti which did as low as 900,000 in terms of voters registration. And we are the most traveled minority with about a third of Binis outside the shores of the country. My father gave birth to 16 children, I have four of my bethren outside the shores of the country. We cannot also say the same for Osun, although she just had her election , if we should combine the figures of Binis outside the country to the ones at home, it will amount to something significant, there is hardly any home you can't find a Bini abroad, in some homes infact, out of seven bethren, 6 will be outside the shores. Even in some larger family in Benin with over 30 children, some up to 15 Will be there. Check for the Osayi family on facebook and see. We have a diaporan population of about 1.2 to anywhere around 1.5 million

If you add all the tribes that trace ancestry to Benin in Nigeria ... Edo is the 2nd largest Ethnic nation after the hausas!!! This is facts

Oranmiyan was the Son Of King Oduduwa Of Ile Ife

By the Way the first Ogiso was also Yoruba

Go and Read Bondarenko’s book
igodomigodo (Benin) was First Located in the Ado Ekiti Area before it was moved to todays Area by
Ogiso Ere the Son of the first Ogiso Igodo

That was why they were called the Ado by the Yorubas

The Benins disagree strongly, this is not what we know, this is not what we are used to, All Ogisos in Benin were local Benin men from the various Ancient Benin communities, we had over 40 Ogisos, none came from Ife, you can come to Benin and interview those normal laymen on the street,at least 70 years and above, we usually had moonlight stories then, none was ever told this Ogiso from Ife story. So it is a formation, a creation of sort, an attempt to subdue the Benin history and covet it for themselves , no one will support your history of Ogisos from Ife, I can bet my life on it, this is not what our fathers told us. This is yoruba writing our history for us. Till date I have still not accepted the coming of Oronmiyan into Benin as full yoruba, when the place was not conquered, the late Oba has a rebuttal to that, it is also written. If you guys were sharing individuals to be kings, why did you not share up to Igboland or Asaba. You people seem to write a lot about Benin trying to steal our civilization because precolonially you had none close to it. If you people were so productive and useful, you would have built other civilizations bigger than Benin but no you guys don't have.

Banyxchi-You are young here, you dont really know how these people dragged us over the years. Discrediting Benin history and civilization. There was a time I complained of it even, and it reduced to an extent

You cannot give what you don't have, the yoruba are trying to claim what they were never able to achieved. This will only intensify as more of them become aware of what Benin represents in world history and black civilisation in the world.

Benin is acclaimed to be the best example of black civilisation, others such as Egypt is tainted and intertwined with Arabic civilisation. So for everyone black man on earth, it's Benin first.

Most people in Benin city who haven't travelled out of Nigeria to places like Europe and America have no idea of the importance of Benin to the world and black race. Yoruba people who had a head start of travelling to the west took advantage and started writing books to claim Benin as yoruba civilisation.

I never knew the importance of Benin history until I left Nigeria, I always thought it was a local history. Unfortunately some Benin people are being miseducated by Yoruba writers. You detect the passion for which some of us outside the country make our contributions. You need to visit the Africa sections of Western museums to fully understand what our ancestors achieved. This is why we feel insulted when their efforts are being undermined by those without history outside fairytales.

Like you said, the stories and lies written by the yoruba and their supporters don't resonate and not in agreement with our oral history and traditions.
