I am a Nigerian based In Canada. I dont think Nigeria is nearing collapse. I just feel people are just tired of putting in the same amount of work and not getting anything in return. My dad is a professor in Nigeria and has been in the university for 35 years. His monthly salary is about 500k naira a month. I am a instructor at a college in Canada, joined the college January this year. I make an equivalent of almost $8k a month after taxes. This is the problem with Nigeria. Once I get my PhD, I will be earning close to $15k a month. And I am 36 years, my dad is almost 70 years. This is the reason for Japa.
please bro just assist me any way you can i want to start poultry business please i come to you in weakness.

Correct analysis, my guy. A chilled Gulder for you.

Someone once described living in the West as this: IT GIVES AN ILLUSION OF WEALTH TO CONCEAL POVERTY.
A very accurate description for many Africans in Europe, USA and Canada.

While I agree, I find it extremely odd that till date, Nigerians are not a major entrepreneurial bloc in the UK. There are Indian and Pakistanis born and bred in the UK who are multi-millionaires and even billionaires but not a single Nigerian. Indians before colonisation was a very rich country. Uk met them extremely rich and plundered them to oblivion. They just bounced back and is taking over their initial spots in world politics. Pakistan and India were one before.

We wil talk about different nations in Nigeria before colonisation after the election and where they were with civilisation. Nigerians going to uk or abroad still have the average Nigerian mentality we display at hone which is show off.

Kenyans are taking over the sport after India in uk.
Indians are united, will circulate info that will benefit them but see a Nigerian showing what to do to excell, its very impossible. You rather hear from Indians or other African countries. Indians start grooming their children as soon as they are born. We are busy with owambe, feminism and back biting. How can you groom your kids when more than half of the Nigerian population are divorced because they want to be fake oyibos? Custody battle and busy trying to get the kids to hate the other parent. Others have moved on.

Just more word salad… a cursory read of your posts and it’s clear this is your MO with other folks like justwise and Ednut.

I make what you make a year in a few weeks… my 2 best friends from college in naija are in high ranking jobs at chevron and BASF US. See, I can use 3 of us as “living proof” that a life in America is far superior to the life you live in the hellhole called Nigeria.

Your reluctance to answer my questions speak volumes. You won the birth lottery and think you can lecture everyone… good luck when you get any health issue beyond malaria. If you had the brain you delude yourself into thinking you have, go back and ask why you pay income tax and yet have to provide your own basic utilities. You own an inverter/generator, you build your borehole, fire service is basically nonexistent, no healthcare… and the dunce thinks an inverter is all there is to life? grin grin take a seat young man.
If you can't make it in Nigeria doesn't mean another person can't...

Where will you see $15M ? LoL. Another delusion about abroad. There's no guarantee anyone can amass up to $500k even working for 45yrs
Lol but what do you want to do with $15m ? Most people earn enough to live a good life and go for vacations and there is a close gap between the rich and average, so in essence…having that amount of money won’t make happy automatically because people are already living a good life with God’s help.

Dude, never advice this group of people:
1-A random bad mannered swearing Nairalander about life abroad
2-A yahoo guy that yahoo is not good
3-A girl addicted to useless wayward boys.

Number 1 above is filled with resentment for anyone abroad. He would brag about how he is balling in 9ja and you are washing corpses abroad. Yet his foul words betrays someone seriously unhappy with his life.

Around 10-15 years ago, some people in 9ja will just be saying how they just bought a new car, how they have everything in 9ja, how they blow their gen all night with AC and no need to travel broad or variations of it to say how well off in 9ja they are. I was wondering why say all this? I never told you anything about my life abroad, how good or bad it is compared to yours. Why do I need to know how well off you are?. shocked shocked

I just gradually withdrew from them so as not to say anything to annoy anyone.
Fast forward: In the last 5 years or so, same people are asking how they can relocate abroad, for their kids' sake, insecurity, bala, bla bla. shocked

Living 11 in three bedroom... You for tell me say na face me I face you dey stay...

Oga citizens never save upto 10k na you wey be immigrant...

Abeg na credit card levels dem dey use buga after they pay their gbese...

why are you so quick to look for a way to insult me than see the reason of the argument ?

And if I stay in a “face me I face you”, what is your business? Am I living my life to please you ? is that the gist of the matter or you can’t comprehend english language?

I live in California and I have seen Latino immigrants who work without work permit or social security live as crowds in small apartments- they don’t want to live in a nice place because it’s very expensive and their goal is to save as much money as they can because they don’t know the day they will be deported so they want to save as much as possible

they send all their money they work to mexico or guatemala… so if they rent a beat up 3 bedroom apartment for like $1,100 a month in a slum area - guess what ? if they are 11 - they can split the rent to be $100 per person per month

so if they are earning low wages like $1,700 a month working undocumented jobs in a construction site, they can afford to save $800-$1000 each every months - and in a year they can save up to $10,000 each - that’s where am talking from

as a Nigerian you can’t live like that - No Nigerian will want to live like that in America - so if you have that kind job of $1,700 as a Nigerian - by the time you pay full rent of $800 as a new immigrant your money is finished - as other bills will eat the rest

that’s my argument before u brought up attacks on me like say na me decree poverty on your life

Guy, if na hungry dey beat u go find food chop no be me be your problem

thank you

What's the contradiction abeg?

If I buy a house here and pay 5% down, it's my choice. Will I live under the bridge or will I build the house in Nigeria and go from there to work here? Do I want to keep paying one landlord $2500 monthly as rent when I can buy a house and pay that $2500 monthly as part of my repayment?

I used to have same feelings until I had a feel of the abroad thing. You can live a comfortable live on the minimum wage doing 40hrs a week work but I doubt if anyone with the minimum wage in Nigeria can live a comfortable live without being at the mercy of the rich. You are sure of world class education for your kids and the quality of life is priceless. If you have the means to Japaa legally, do not hesitate for a sec. Naija will be great again.

post=117984178]So lately I have seen friends, families, colleagues at work, church members relocating abroad.
These people are "doing well" here in Nigeria.
Many of them resign from their high paying jobs, sells their properties and put up to like 25 - 40 million naira to relocate a family of say 5.
Is it really worth it?
Can't we make a good living here in Nigeria especially people with a good job here?
I need clarifications from those that have gone to enlighten me.

Oga he is not trying to push ppl not to travel, he is trying to disclaim the guy bogus claims. But for real why will a person spend 7 to 8 millions to go to a country like UK when you are not medically or IT related inclined, to me that is a waste of fund, basically, u can use that money to set up a biz here that can keep u comfortable, as time goes on u can build normal houz, buy a normal car. I know alot of men that sent dia kids to sch abroad with proceeds from regular buying and selling in regular Nigerian market. Nawadays kids don't want to break a sweat.
