Presidential Candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has again defended his absence from Sunday night’s presidential town hall meeting organized by Arise Television in conjunction with the Centre for Democracy and Development CDD, saying he won’t be railroaded into making media appearances.

Describing the town hall as “poorly organized”, Tinubu also berated the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and that of the Labour Party LP, Mr Peter Obi whose presidential ambitions he said were dead on arrival.

In a late Monday statement titled “PDP and LP are confused” and signed by Mr Bayo Onanuga, Director, Media and Publicity of the APC Presidential Campaign Council PCC, Tinubu said he already has his campaign plans which he does not intend to alter.

The statement reads; We read with amusement the ridiculous position of Atiku/Okowa Campaign Council and that of Labour Party/Peter Obi on the absence of our presidential candidate, Asíwájú Bola Ahmed Tinubu, from the poorly organized Town Hall debate session by Arise TV.

“The separate press releases from these two dead-on-arrival presidential campaign offices sought to make an issue out of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s well-thought-out decision to follow his own campaign plan.

“The more absurd of the two positions was the one canvassed by the spokesperson of Atiku/Okowa campaign. The PDP Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar didn’t also attend Arise News Town Hall Meeting.

“Yet his spokesman, out of joblessness and lack of productive venture attacked our candidate, perhaps in pursuit of a media mileage that their campaign badly needs to divert attention from their failing presidential bid.

“We believe that even a palace jester should have a moment of self introspection. If this had been done, the statement would have been unnecessary.

“Instead of PDP to tell Nigerians why its presidential candidate has not returned to Nigeria after their purposeless visit to United States where he and his other 15 peripatetic adults were given a cold shoulder by US senior officials, the spokesperson is busy chasing shadows.

“We want to state again for the attention of both PDP and LP, that Asiwaju Tinubu will not be railroaded into media appearances and debates.

“Asiwaju Tinubu and his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima have their campaign schedule that they are following and they have been holding conversations with Nigerians at Town Hall meetings and other fora.

“The Tinubu-Shettima Presidential Campaign Council has clearly made its position on debates known in a statement issued by our Director of Public Affairs, Mr. Festus Keyamo, SAN and that position remains.

“We recognize that both PDP and LP have to use Asiwaju Tinubu’s name with the hope that their floundering campaign will gain some traction. Nigerians witnessed the show of shame and despicable exchange on live television between, Mr. Peter Obi, the candidate of LP and Dino Melaye, one of Atiku-Okowa’s palace jesters.

“Nigerians will certainly not vote for candidates and political parties that cannot maintain decorum and basic decency on national television

Nigerians hope you have heard it from Tinubu.
Buhari will be far better than Tinubu. He was very strong and active pre 2015 election.
Nigeria is never an organized society.

It is Peter obi i pity the most. If you people can recall like few months ago. I stated on this forum how Peter will ended humiliated, insulted and embarassed if he continued on the attention seeking campaign of his, jumping from one media to media, selling himself cheap - all in a bid to invoke public sympathy. I was vindicated and my thought was justfied after what happened yesterday during the debate. It was more of a 'wetin your eyes dey find, na im your eyes go see'.

The thing is that in Nigeria Political world, public sympathy can never translate to votes. The strategies, the plans and the tactics deployed matters. Reason why you see a certain Asiwaju Jagaban crossing the lenght and breadth of this country seeking endorsements with real voters not going after validations through a debate, from people who will be sitting in front of same TV throughout the day of election. About 70% of the registered voters were not even aware that any debate took place. It shows the irrelevance the comedy show called debate holds in voters influence.

Peter Obi have alot of things to learn politically, so is his ignorant supporters. They both share same amateurish trait not worthy of a player in a Nigeria political contest.

Atiku is finally getting the point, he is finally coming into contact with reality on ground. Tinubu' surely leads, others follows. Ask around and enquire more what Asiwaju means - He is the leader of men. And leaders dont chase winning, they only do everything possible never to lose.

What withdraws, what becomes scarce, suddenly seems to deserve our respect and honor. What stays too long, inundating us with its presence, makes us disdain it.

There are over 10 parties to vote for, whatever you do, don't vote APC, unless you'll be immune to the disastrous consequences undecided

Election nor too far again, let's wait till February before we know who is who.

But one thing that always make me laugh anytime I think about it is the Yoruba APC supporters who believe that Tinubu will win all south west State because he is a Yoruba man, and the Hausas and Fulanis will leave their own tribal person to vote Tinubu as well.

The thing always make me laugh anytime I think about it. But nevertheless, let's wait till February next year to truly know how true their mindset is.

UPDATE :
When Peter Obi says he will no longer attend any debate that Waziri Atiku and Tinubu do not attend, he is inevitably saying that he is in this race only because he wants to rub shoulders with Atiku and Tinubu, not because of Nigerians. That is very reactionary!

Question for Peter Obi: Are you going to these debates for the benefit of Waziri Atiku and Tinubu, or are you going for the benefit of Nigerians? Obi has just shown that he a follower of Atiku and Tinubu. Where they go, he goes. Where they don’t go doesn’t go!

It is indeed bizarre to read such announcement for someone sold as an alternative yet mirror the nuances of the status quo. So if the flag bearers of the legacy parties don’t show you too will abscond?
