It shows the campaign is using bots. Does not mean obi supporters are not using too. If you find any report to seun he would take action. It has nothing to do with tinumbu specifically

I have noticed the fake likes by Tinubu Bots. Unfortunately, I'm still trying to find a permanent solution to this problem.

I have failed to deploy the solutions that I have because I feel they will either be circumvented pretty easily or cause too much collateral damage.

1. If you have ideas, please post them here.
2. Please use this page to report any post that has a suspiciously high number of likes.

I apologize for the delay in fixing this problem. We will fix this and any other problems as soon as possible.

Secondly, the bots makes use of auto-click scripts and proxies, identify and block such proxies from accessing nairaland and delete every suspicious accounts.

Thirdly, limit and monitor every pro Tinubu post that hit front-page, check the poster and their history before moving them to frontpage.

Lastly, All your moderators, every single one of them must be subject to checks, all posts that makes it to frontpage must be vetted. This very post should be on frontpage in the first place, your moderators should be questioned and not let emotions or financial inducements affect their sense of judgment.

It's almost a month since Seun created this thread, and it still hasn't made FP.

Tells you all you need to know about site owner and the mickey mouse fight against Theifnuubuuu bots.

Note : The fake likes and troll moniker activity seem to have even gone up a notch these past weeks.

Seun will never do anything about what you suggested. He's using a reverse psychology by opening this thread to deceive himself thinking he's deceiving us. Check the rate of fake/political biased news that make front page daily. The mod that pushes, and all the monikers responsibility for generating and polluting this politics section are well known to Seun but he doesn't care. He believes Nairaland is too big to die. SMH

My advice:

Bots are very common during electoral solicitations. And even to sponsor other things. Na normal thing.

Once I created a forum and administered it and started receiving bots, I censored+autoBan some keywords and the users of those. I also banned some email providers cos it seems most bots don't do @gmail.com, @yahoo.com that much (not saying all tho). So when I see a @ru.ehdjd.ft, and confirm its IP address is linked to other accounts, it's a ban for life. Banning their IP is a very helpful tool too.

Yes, it may cause some problems but if a normal user feels they have been banned unfairly, I think they can report. But why use a banned keyword anyways?

Anyways, you may need to add other security features like reCaptcha. The latest version of reCaptcha kills bots by a 80% margin.

What is more? In all honesty, your registration process is weak. Being a base of SMF then, I guess you didn't use the reCaptcha due to the several glitches it had on-boarding users then, or maybe it was self decision...but you need it now.


You also need to install some spambot blockers and banners that could filter popular parent bots and ban their child bots.


Add a lil fix on the processes too. Add more input fields. Add verification by phone number (don't allow Void numbers). It may be a bit expensive, but it saves.
