Hello,

I need a quick help on this..

My tubular battery is installed in my passage.. The passage leads to the two rooms within the house..

Is it okay to keep it like that for the main time. I intend moving it outdoor within the next 6months.. My compound is not fenced..

The same challenge I'm currently facing with mine. I've been using the normal seal gel battery for more than 10yrs without any issue placing the battery in my sitting room, I just moved to tubular battery recently. Despite the numerous advantages of tubular battery, the fume from the battery is the major let down as it is not advisable to place it indoor.

You can build/buy a battery box that vents to a different location than where the batteries are placed.

I think the Su-kam guys sold such a box.

Good evening house, kindly help vet this quotation, also for a location that has say 5 hours light daily, does one need the solar panels or that will do just fine ?

Thanks in anticipation!

You will need panels n 2 300w panel will do since there's 5hrs of light n that will charge it battery. The prices listed there are high. I don't see surger protectors in the list. The charge controller hell b using won't be mppt for sure. Best is you buy material yourself. N giving the price of the battery. He's buying a sealed lead acid battery of low grade.

Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by sirrotex: 3:04pm On Nov 12, 2022
Good afternoon guys. So I have started the DIY solar project since May this year. I have been buying items in bits. So far, I have bought 4 300w mono solar panels, a 2.5kva inverter, a 60amp charge controller and 2 200ah 12v batteries.

Please What other items do I need to buy to conclude this project as I don't want the batteries to stay on ground for long?
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by sirrotex: 3:05pm On Nov 12, 2022
I don't know about Tubular but from my little research, the best battery available is Monbat. Very pricey I must add

You appear good to go as you already have most of the major components.

Get a good installer, some roof rails/rack to mount the panels on, the right gauge cables for the DC and AC legs of your system, assorted breakers and SPDs and begin to enjoy your system.

In short, a good installer will set you right with all you need and you can begin using your system.

The best battery is a per use case decision - it is the one that delivers the desired/promised energy storage/yield and cycle life within the user's budget.

The bold struck me, which particular prices are high there?

I do agree it is better you source the items yourself to ensure quality but you will likely spend more than the quote for the exact items.

Thank you for being gracious in victory grin grin grin

Here below my prior efforts in this area - I will post more links as I find them. If you read these posts and the related engagements around them, you should pretty much come up with a full picture.

Please do not use the 'control reset' feature - rather first disconnect PV, make your updates then power cycle the CC (disconnect battery and reconnect) for a full restart (needed for custom settings to take effect)

First 2 links are about firmware updates, 3rd link is general info on pushing custom settings, 4th link is a caveat on a possible dangerous software feature.

Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by olopan(m): 6:04am On Nov 13, 2022
if you can get hold of these pictures share them here for more advice
1. the sticker on one of the CCTV
2. The sticker on your DVR i.e. if used
3. The power supply
4. your fencing security apparatus too.

All these is to ensure you get the best even out of little.

Below is an example of what to look out for.

Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by olopan(m): 6:13am On Nov 13, 2022
From my own view

it is a small setup for Basic loads like
light, TV, Fan and phone charging

While it features a Lithium battery it is design to be discharged sparingly for times when the grid is down for short time so you can have power to run above mentioned loads.

Also note that no solar panel is included but a 2000W inverter, 100Ah 12V lithium battery, 30A MPPT controller and a 5A 12V charger

So in conclusion, it is a good buy if you stay abroad with a stable grid. Hope this helps.

Watch out for those panel prices you are calling, it be a shame that you are been sold a clone or rebranded panels for the price stated.

These your prices don't reflect present reality.

In addition to what @odimbannamdi said above, for battery you can save up to get LFP like the coupled ones @Valto sells.

You sure would need PSW inverter rather than MSW especially if you run sensitive appliances that have Motor e.g Refrigerator, Freezer, Blender, Washing Machine etc.

The gurus have more to say.

Please humor my mumu questions:

In a place where there's difficulty in locating where to mount solar panels.

Mumu question 1:

Is it a feasible idea to use solar panels in place of that window overhang cover (the type we do with roofing sheet to stop rain from coming in through windows)?

Mumu question 2:

Said window faces the East. As early as 6:30 A.M the sunlight is coming in through the window intensely.

Is 6:30 AM to 1 PM active sunlight activity enough for any meaningful use of panels?

After 1 PM the location is no longer receiving direct sunlight.

Thanks
