Only very few of them are truly honest. Too many dishonest lawyers in Nigeria. |

No one will respond to you. If your lawyer defrauded you, please lay complaints to the appropriate authorities. Braft: |

megastu:You can only report to the appropriate authorities and expect action to be taken in a sane and working country where institutions work normally. But not in Nigeria. Human beings are bigger than the institutions in Nigeria. So a guilty person can even head an institution or appropriate authority and then how do you report a guilty person to himself? The institution/appropriate authorities have been compromised. Before a person comes online to write things, he must have seen a lot and passed through a lot. And spent a lot. Social media has become the appropriate authority for many people in Nigeria, and that's where many issues are settled fast, after wasting your money and time for many years looking for justice and you can't get justice and the evil lawyers frustrate you, the next bus stop is to spread the story all over the internet and all over the world, so that we can kukuma tarnish the image of the whole profession involved, so that they can learn and change for the better. |

Braft:Are you normal at all? Or has your horrible experience at the hand of a lawyer affected you psychologically and mentally, you write like a mentally unstable person. Abnormally long incoherent gibberish, without stating specifically how you were defrauded. Just rambling along like a goat without rope on its neck ![]() Gtfoh ![]() |

Greatzeus:Yes, it's expected. I fully expected comments like this and I know they will come. You thought you could provoke me with your comments and insults? No I'm higher than that level you're operating from because I can never and will never be provoked. So if you like gather all the insults in the whole world and insult me, you're wasting your time because it can never get to me. Is that taken? But people who know the value of what I've written will understand it. It's for people with higher mental capacity and who appreciate the truth, not for children. |

Braft:Well! My take is that most Nigerians are the architect of their misfortune. Why am I saying this? First, we have loads and loads of quack and fake lawyers who are not qualified to practice law in Nigeria, but they are practising just like we have fake doctors, LASMA officers, etc. I encountered a potential client who wanted to travel earlier this year. He was happily married with kids in Nigeria. But he told the visa officers that he was a divorcee. And when he was asked to produce an enrolment order evidencing this, which he erroneously called a divorce certificate, he could not provide any evidence. Secondly, Nigerians hate the truth. Why am I saying this? Upon interviewing him, I discovered he had lied to procure his visa and needed a marriage certificate to back up his lies. He was still happily married. Guess what? The wife had no idea what was happening. He needed the certificate within a month. I told him the truth, but this didn't sit well with him. He reported me to the friend that referred him that I was a quack and didn't know what I was doing. He was joyous that he was able to procure what he called a divorce certificate at the sum of 50k. He didn't know that what he got was a fake certificate. The matter didn't go to court, had no case file, and no document was filed. How did he get a decree order nisi much more decree absolute? This takes a minimum of six months to a year if it is an undefended suit. And if contested, it could take forever. If the embassy discovers tomorrow that he produced a fake enrolment order and his visa is revoked, he will blame the lawyer. Also, Nigerians don't like paying professionals. I was reading of the one that paid a lawyer 90k to defend him in a criminal case. Why on earth should a sane litigator charge 90k for a criminal case that you only know when you begin a case and don't know when or how it will end? It may drag on for years, and you may be buried in a mountain of paperwork. Well! A hungry lawyer will take it. But when reality sets in and he discovers he is now spending his personal to prosecute a client's case, he will abandon the case. Especially if hunger and the need to get food was the immediate reason, he took the case in the first place. Lastly, most clients don't tell their lawyers the absolute truth. They tell the lawyer what they think the lawyer should know. But when shit hits the fan in court and the adverse party supplies evidence to knock out the case, they will turn back and blame the lawyer. I can't imagine spending 12-18 hours on average thinking of how to solve a client's legal issues, having earned my fee, only to discover that the client withheld vital information or lied outrightly. I may not tell the client, but the case will lose its steam cos it will be off my priority list. I have a target of the number of cases I want to win each year. So before you blame all the lawyers in Nigeria and support Master Shakespeare's elucidation that all lawyers should be killed, look inward and ask yourself if you are not the architect of your misfortune. Shalom. |

litigator:Good comment lawyer. If every lawyer in Nigeria could reason like you, Nigeria will be better. We need good lawyers who are disciplined, truthful, and reliable. Nigeria needs a change. |

A good number of Nigerians do not have integrity . All that runs through their heads is how to cheat you as if the proceeds of their fraudulent act is enough to prosper them. |

So you can imagine a child that lies and steals and then he later becomes a lawyer, what kind of lawyer will he be? A lawyer criminal or a criminal lawyer?? It starts from the root. |

The lawyers and leaders are a reflection of the society When a society look at itself in the mirror what it will see is her leader and lawyers |

oluwaseyi0:That's exactly what will happen. No, the write-up is not out of date. It's very very current. Yes, he's not a presidential candidate of any political party, but he will become Nigeria's president and take over from Buhari and nothing can stop it. Save this post and quote me after Osinbajo becomes Nigeria's president in the next few months. |
