I don't know your definition of better civilization . The ancients Greeks, Egyptians, Romans, Arabs, Chinese, Cretans and the likes; had well developed languages with indigenous alphabets thousands of years ago even before Christ...

I know I'm not a Yoruba and I'm also not a Nigerian, but I sometimes like doing some research about other African tribes during my spare time.

Even the East Asians benefitted from the global trade back then with the silk road networks... But black Africans didn't because of the large barrier i.e the Sahara desert. Infact most people didn't know the Americas existed until the Portuguese started using the Atlantic ocean. Pls just read history bro, stop coming here to push anti-black rhetorics. Global academical researchers, historians, anthropologists all concluded that race has nothing to do with progress has far as history is concern. Nature didn't do anything to us, if you're suffering from depression or anything pls seek help.

These are the Yoruba women back in the 1800 and if you check the Yoruba artifacts, they are dressed exactly the same way as those Yoruba women.

Meaning that's how they used to dress before they started covering up.

Maybe Yorubas but not all ethnic groups in the sub-continent dress similarly. Cultures in Southern Africa are even way more liberal.
