See mumu talk. Igbos are not known for making principled stands on issues in Nigeria. Not in the First, Second, Third and the current Fourth Republic. Azikiwe agreed to play second fiddle to the Hausa-Fulani NPC, just for him to be named 'ceremonial president.' Ojukwu ran into exile after the Hausa-Fulanis had massacred millions of Igbos and he came back to still join the Hausa-Fulani dominated party NPN. Zik would later join Shagari's government of national unity in 1979 and 1983.

Furthermore, Ojukwu ran errands for Abacha to justify the annulment of June 12 to European countries. And in this 4th Republic, Obi promised Ojukwu never to leave APGA, only to decamp from the party after the demise of the old man. It's clear that Igbos would compromise any principle for their selfish ambition.
