Good day @all,

I have read through the thread and previous ones as well and I appreciate everyone that contributed to the information available on this platform.

My EDD is 22nd May 2023, Is it okay to book a flight now and how soon can I travel?..I am contemplating @ 35 weeks.

Must I book a return ticket?

Any airline running promo?

Is it early to contact a doctor and hospital now? I am just 16 weeks gone

Any Mama that will be traveling same period and planning to use Oakbend should reach out to me.

I have a B1/B2 visa issued this June for a pre-employment training in Atlanta, the organization facilitated in schedulingthe interviewat the embassy. I later got a more stable offer in my current place of work same June and didn't travel again. I took in Mid-August.

While I understand the implications, I didn't want to re-apply due to difficulty getting an interview date. I have prove of the correspondence with the organization even when flights have been booked and I eventually communicated I wouldn't be coming again. Any advice?

Apologies for the plenty questions

Congratulations mama!!

I think 35weeks is fine, you can do earlier if you wish and don’t mind staying for a while before you give birth.

It’ll be advisable to book a return ticket because what if you’re asked at POE? If you don’t have it’ll signal you wanting to stay back in the country.

I don’t think it’s too early to contact a doctor; the earlier the better and I guess you have the luxury of time to shop around for more alternatives.

Lastly, because your visa was given for a different reason I’d advise that you write to the embassy to inform them that you are planning on Travelling to give birth there on your already existing visa. Whether or not they respond at least it would be documented that you communicated this to them . Also have it handy at POE in case you get asked, you just never know.

All the best!

Thanks a lot . I’ve filled it now. Had to tell my family in US to help me and it went so smoothly. We filled it on video call. Desperate measures.

Soooo, I successfully entered via Dallas PoE today. They didn’t ask but I willingly divulged that I was also going to have my baby. They took me to secondary inspection and the guy just asked for paperwork with the Dallas doctor and mode of payment. Showed him the paperwork and confirmed I’ll be paying with my credit card. He gave me back my passport and I was granted entry for 6 months. So glad!

Hello, please I am flying out of Abuja Nigeria with Lufthansa on Saturday, transiting through FRA to Dallas, US. I’m Nigerian flying with a Nigerian passport and was fully vaccinated last year against Covid -19. Do I still need a negative covid test to fly or would my certificate of vaccination suffice?

Also, at PoE, I want to say I’m here for vacation and to have my baby even though I got the visa for tourism but its B1/B2 (which is the same for medical visa). Is this advisable or should I stick with tourism?

Thank you so so much Debbie.

You’ve been extremely helpful throughout this process. Please what document do I need to get from the doctors/hospital to show I paid all the bills in full?

Zero balance letter stating you paid your bills in full and you’re not indebted to the facility(hospital), receipts from doctor, paediatrician, anaesthesia(if you use) and other services rendered to you in the process.

Hi beautiful people, thank you all so much for all you do. I recently found that I am pregnant and it’s 10 weeks.
I have gone through the thread and I have some questions as I have never applied for a USA visa before.

I know getting an appointment for interview is hard now, but please how can I go about it to secure a date soon

Please can you suggest hospitals and Doctors in Texas. I saw Oakbend hospital several times on the thread, please can I know more.

Also kindly suggest Airbnb in Texas (I have googled some but I would appreciate recommendations)

I am planning to travel with my mum and she doesn’t have Visa too. I know she will apply separately, is it possible to schedule our appointment on same day

Please do you think I can do all processes on my own due to timing or better to use a visa agent

Sorry for the plenty questions, thanks a lot

@All

I just think i should drop this here hope it helps those looking for an appointment

It appears that Abuja is opening a small number of dropbox opportunities every day. Just to note, from the way they seem to be managing their appointments, it appears that everyone has an equal chance to obtain an appointment whether they use a visa agent or not. In short I would encourage you to save your money and to make your own appointment without using an agent if you qualify for Abuja's interview waiver.

Just to add to the above post...

when applying for Interview Waiver (dropbox), dissociate all dependents from your profile first, it has to be one applicant per request. The new system gives everyone an equal chance to get an appointment, whether they use a visa agent or not

How much have you paid recently to add an infant to your ticket booking?
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by WesternSouthern: 6:26pm On Dec 12, 2022
Pls can anyone advise which hospital in the US allows pre-registration and payment in advance (prior to arrival in the US). All the ones I’ve contacted keep saying I can’t do it remotely. I’m asking because my company will be able to pay on my behalf at CBN rate and this will be more convenient for me. It will also make it easier to pass immigration. If I convert the money myself to travel with it, its value will be halved since it will be at parallel market rate. Thanks

Most hospitals I called won’t take wire transfers, some doctors will, I met a doctor who does not take wire also. You may have to first ask the doctors office for payment policy from the get go, make sure to use a doctor familiar with Nigerian patients they’re the ones who tend to take wire transfers for their services.

Thanks @Debbieeeeeee and @Pwinkle for the guidance provided in my previous request. I have booked flight for 20th April to Houston.

I sent mail to Oakbend Medical Centre few days ago for quote but no response yet. I also checked Dr F. online and got his number but I couldn't reach him. I understand that he can provide both the doctor's and hospital quotations.

Can someone PM me his email address so that I initiate correspondence with him and book my appointment early.

Thanks in advance

Hello house, this place was quite helpful during my application time for child-birth (2018). I will be going for renewal (interview) in January, please, while filling my DS-160 , do I have to fill in my child’s name under “other persons traveling with you?” Though, we are traveling together but she has a US passport (citizen) kinda looks confusing since she isn’t applying, is filling her info optional? Kindly assist!!

Hey mama! Send me a DM I can share the email with you.

Thank you @Pwinkle1. I got a response from Dr F. yesterday with the quote.

Dear Mama's,
I have some concerns....

It was mentioned in the mail that mothers expecting a singleton should arrive by 34 weeks. I have bought flight tickets already and I will arrive by 35 weeks 4 days. Should I be concerned?

$200 is required to be paid for appointment date to be issued. Does Oakbend accept this payment by transfer? I don't have someone that can help me pay by cash?

If I sort out No 2. concern above, will I be registered at 36 weeks in Oakbend MC given by No. 1 concern.

Thank you in advance

Hi mama,

The $200 is to the doctor and not the hospital. Ask them if they would accept any other means of payment than cash and see what the response will be?

If you arrive later than 34weeks, I THINK you might still be attended to. But you can clarify via your communication with the doctors office on their thoughts regarding this.
