Visa officers are not smiling. They are not ready for your cheap stories. You had better come clean and correct.

You’re 26 years old and you’re still applying to a community college. What stops you from applying for a bachelors program? I wonder what sits in a lot of peoples head on here.

To get or qualify for a visa, you have to be a genuine student- this means, all your actions wether true or crook has to look like there is enough intention to study and not come here to elope and constitute nuisance.

Please guys I'm filling my Form DS-160, I'm a bit confused.. my program start date is 10th of January but classes starts January 17th.. do i have to travel before the program start date which is on the 10th of Jan or i can travel 3 days to the start of classes (14th of Jan)... And also should i indicate that as my intended arrival date knowing it's 4 days past the start of my program but 3 days to the start of classes?? Would i be denied visa for that reason?
why would you travel on the day your program starts? Sometimes I feel like pelting some of you with a golf ball.

A week or two weeks to your program start date is always the better option.

Well, that other guy is very correct. Harsh, but right. If you’re above 25years, it is safe to assume that the latest you wrong Olevel exams was in 2014. That’s 8years study gap. It’s unbelievable that someone with such a gap would automatically decide to pursue their academics after such a long time. Even if the person was a genuine student, the better option will be to do it In Nigeria where it is faster, more convenient/more support system and cheaper to do so. I’d advise you try UK schools. Getting visas to community colleges or as an older student is very difficult.

Msc or PhD? My personal take is that your research area is more important than the field. If you’re interested in Robotics for example, you can apply to Computer science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering etc programs. Your research interests will determine the programs you’re applying to.

It’s really funny reading newbies trying to argue with people who have been in the system while you were still struggling with furthermath in high school.

Sit your butt down and learn. Your professor has funding, not just enough to pay RA.

What does it hurt to just read and keep it going? But no, as an average Nigerian, you decided to choke mouth into a thing that doesn't even concern you. I said my PI doesn't have funding. He has 4 grad students and all of us are TAing. You probably know him better than he knows himself or better than I do to have assumed he has funding.

A simple email to the admissions would have answered this question.

If you have any concerns about your admission, email or call the admissions office. That is why they are there. It’s common sense.

You can always email a paper copy of your recommendation and it would be uploaded for you.

Hello, I don’t believe this applies to all schools. If your recommenders are having issues with the recommendation, it is best to have them reach out to graduate admissions themselves. You’re not allowed to see your recommendation letters. Schools like Columbia university expressly forbids it.

The first test of a grad student is the ability to conduct a basic research. Google has an overwhelming information you do not even need to ask anyone questions of this nature.

A simple google search will feed you with hundreds of links to schools. But no, they all want to be spoon fed.

It is funny when I read people asking for schools that give scholarship for masters.

I don’t know when just wise will start blocking those brainless orangutan off this page.

Hello sir,

Please be calming down. If they go through this application circle and nothing comes out from it, they would have learnt their lesson.

It’s been to ignore unnecessary questions.

I've received an official fully funded PhD offer from the University of Florida for the summer term.

Next is visa ooo. Lol.

I think I prefer Abuja. I'll have to wait for January.

Congratulations!!! And before Christmas? You must have been good this year. Send my Christmas rice to my house. Happy Holidays!

Absolutely incorrect. Except you waived your right to the content of the recommendation then this applies.

You absolutely have the right to see your recommendation letters except you waive your right to it.

I believe the right to see your recommendation letter only applies after you’ve matriculated, not before.

Oh no, you’re exposing your crass ignorance and throwing you a blanket is not a bad idea.

You can also ask your professor how he gets to keep his position as a professor. There are information you kids are not privy to, rather than ask a simple question, you want to throw jabs.

Says someone looking for an undergrad admission in the UK.

LoL, nice talking to you. You're right

No, under no circumstance should you upload your recommendation for your prof. What I am highlighting is you have the right to see the recommendation except you waive your right. If your prof write you a recommendation letter, you can mail it on their behalf.

Some schools allow you to mail it to them which means you did not waive your right to the recommendation letter

Now I understand. I assumed you meant to email it.

I don’t think that’s financially feasible. I can’t even apply to schools that require official transcript because WES requires a $30 fee to send transcripts. Imagine paying for international courier to mail recommendation letters

You are not so smart to do basic due diligence and I hope you’re able to carry out a basic in-depth research.

You were probably still running around naked in the rain when I got my bachelors.

I agree with you.
