I come from a good and well-educated family. I also attended great schools in Nigeria, but more importantly, while I understood our native language, from hearing relatives speak it, I have never spoken it. My parents never spoke it to us at any point. So I have only spoken English, since I was born. When I became a teenager, I also spoke pidgin English with my friends most times, but that had much less of an impact on speech.

I'm happy I understand my native language, and can probably have a conversation in it, if I had to. However, since I never spoke it, it never influenced my speech patterns. When you have a somewhat neutral speaking voice, or the kind of voice some kids in Nigeria used to tell me "why you de speak phonneh," the transition to an American accent is seamless.

Especially when you already grew up fully understanding the nuances of American English, through cartoons, movies and music. No speech pathology needed. It's a natural process, over a long period of time in America. However, the necessary foundation has to be there, to begin with.

I have gained some insights into different societies and cultures, by traveling far and wide. Not as a weekend tourist, but spending extended time in those places, and living an everyday life. Some of that information/experience might be useful to someone here.

The main point of this AMAA is mostly to answer questions of curiosity. Just random things you wonder about more obscure and less popular places (which I prefer to visit). I'm calling it "Ask Me Almost Anything," because I will not be answering certain questions.

Some questions I can't answer:

1. Questions about visa processes: I simply don't know, as I travel visa-free on a US passport, in almost all cases.

2. Questions about "hustling" as a documented or undocumented resident.

I have a web-based business in the US. So I work remotely, wherever I am.


A few things to note:

1. When I say "lived in a country," I don't mean permanently. I use that for countries I spend at least 1 month. I typically spend anywhere from 1- 3 months per country. In a few cases, I've stayed as long as 6, 10 and 12 months in some countries.

2. I travel on a US passport. I keep renewing my Naija passport each time it expires, but I never actually use it. Latest one I got in New York expired some months ago. I only used it once, in visiting Naija.

3. I am less interested in visiting "first world countries," as I find them boring. So most of my travels are to developing countries, but mostly those I still have access to solid accommodation and amenities. I have a business to run, so I can't be without reliable internet.

I find these countries more diverse in culture and lifestyle. First world countries are too structured and predictable.

4. I don't stay in hotels. I rent full Airbnb apartments, as I typically stay in a place for a few months and prefer to feel at home. I only stay in a hotel, if I need to, for 1-2 days while in transit, or something.

5. I've been learning Spanish for a long time, and speak decent enough conversational Spanish, and basic Portuguese.

You must also have a terrifying disease you're treating. All those countries you mention are places drug guys, ashawo (porn stars), and celebrities love to go for vacation. Your business must be editing and shooting porn movies, medical tourist, drugs or marketing illegal stuff in the name of using USA passport.
I bet you to deny because I'm in Canada I understand you. I've not seen were u mention any Arab countries even as beautiful as Qatar, Saudi Arabia etc. So your business and traveling is to countries that allow your illegal business. Web business like editing porn videos is legit business that pays big time. Quote me!

Yes, Colombian Spanish is great. Proper enunciation and clear accents. In some places, the Spanish is annoying, like Argentina where I am now, Chile and a few others. In Argentina, there's a strong Italian influence on the Spanish, since majority of Argentinians are of Italian descent.

I haven't been to India, but I like a nice Indian meal once in a while. I was in the Philippines for a month. Mostly in Manila, Cebu and the island of Boracay. What places aren't you allowed to go in the Phils? Never heard of that.

There's an insurgency in Mindanao. That's the southernmost area of Philippines. The guys there kidnap foreigners for ransom and do all sorts of shitty things to fund their war against the government. The Islamic State was active there sometime ago, which led to full-scale battles against the government. The situation has calmed, but the insurgency is still going on low-key.

I am kinda of curious, you are now in Argentina (hoping you are still there by 25 Dec.) There is the notion that there are no Black people (please permit me use that word) who are Citizens of Argentina?

I have followed Football as an Eight year old, as a matter of fact, I was Eight years during Argentina '78. I have never seen a Black or a Negro play for the Argentina National Team.

I know the Population comprises majorly Indigenous Tribes and European Settlers and some immigrants from the Middles East.

Are there truely No Negroes/Negroids/Blacks people who are Citizens of Argentina?

While you are there, do you see any? Perhaps a few here and there or non at all?

I have read report (Non Mainstream) that says the Argentines simply kill them or or ask them to move on?

Congrats on the job offer, but I don't have any real experience with Qatar. As I said in that list, I didn't leave the airport in Qatar.

Only thing I was surprised to notice is a lot of the airport workers were black African immigrants. I didn't expect to see that many of them.
Overall, Qatar is one of the richest countries in the world. So if you have a legitimate offer and don't mind living in a muslim society, take it.

The native black population of Argentina are less than 1% of the general population. Most blacks in Buenos Aires are African immigrants from Senegal. I haven't met a black Argentine yet.

Indigenous tribes are not a major part of the population. They're a very small percentage. Argentina is almost entirely a European stock. Over 90% of Argentines are of European descent. Mostly Italy and Spain, and a bit of German.

2. Addis Ababa is decent enough, kinda like Abuja. The girls look great, especially the Habesha ones. Accommodation on airbnb is expensive, compared to many much better countries, especially for the mediocre quality you get.

You can have a good time there, as long as you stay within Addis. Most other regions are a bit volatile an undeveloped.
