I know aestake.
I have two kids, here in Nigeria,it is difficult doing things here without help, although he is around,I don't want to imagine how I will cope without him. Loll, I just hope this works for me,so that we leave together.
Okay

As long as your husband has approval...he can come and go as he wants or stays back eventually..better than not having visa at all..
In my case,I will be going alone with the kids ..if I need help best believe he will be taking the next avail flight down..Sending SOS ASAP...lol
Like you said, you know your strengths and weakness..its best you do as you wish..
jasperonyx:
I know life happens, but I have decided that by the grace of God, I will not embark on any journey without my husband and kids, adding my husband to this application, brought down my point, but I hold on to God.
I know my strength and my weakness. I rather abandon this than leave any of them behind. God will grant my heart desires

Hi @Honeysweetest, thank you for your reply.I am applying from Canada applying from within Nigeria is pretty straightforward for me.

Honeysweetest:
must not be this long, NIN is required, unless the state you are applying in do not use the enhanced passport, which is mostly some northern states, if not,go to local government and apply for her NIN,then you proceed to immigration office.

If you want to do it online,it cost 26k, but if you want to meet an officer, hold from 45k,that is if you are going for the 32 pages.

you strong oo,loll!, I always need my husband around. I will always tell him that anywhere he goes,I go, I won't be left to handle kids alone. I really trust God to work things out for us.

the bad rule in applying online from Nigeria is that you don't have to be in a haste, because some of these immigration officers hate it, so they sometimes frustrate the applicant. States like Enugu where I did mine is ok. Went for my babies NIN in the local government, came out after 13 days, applied for their passport online. Did everything, interview, file opening, captured. I was called to collect it after 3 weeks. Note some officers will tell u to pay them to get it on a week, well for few,it works like that, but for many after taking up to 70k from them, they still waited like others.

I am expecting my PPR soonest by the grace of God.

Going to Saskatchewan with two of my kids.

If you are going to Saskatchewan and plan to enrol your kids above age 5 in school, you will need to contact Newcomers Centre. They will be the one to link you with a nearby school where your child can be enrolled.

The school form will be sent to you via email to fill after which your child will be in their waitlist. Application process for the kids will be concluded when you get to Canada.

I don't know how parents cope yet cos I'm not yet in Canada but decided to share above info just in case it's useful to someone.

I pray we all settle in to the system in Canada at the earliest time possible.

Thank you

Please I will like to play with my child but the province is Quebec. How can I connect to a forum that will help.me find a school for her. She is 11 years

Re: Parenting In Canada...lets Connect !!!! by Creativebelle: 12:46pm On Nov 30, 2022
Hello,

I think you need to mail schools in your province of choice..and ask if he/she can be added to their waitlist

Kids should apply for visitors visa if I am not mistaken..

Pls ask this on the Canada Studeht thread for more and sure responses

Hi all,
I am a mum with two kids (6&1) living in Ontario. I can answer any questions specific to Ontario. We also have several Nigerian mums WhatsApp groups. I can get you added to one in your region once you land(again, specific to Ontario mums).

Hi,

is this group specific to mums or generally for child-care? If it is for child-care are fathers allowed to get information from these groups as well? If not I will just ask my question here if you can please provide the answer. I have asked it earlier but the answers on the thread seem to be here and there so I am not quite sure. Please what is the process for applying for a new born Nigerian passport in Canada and more importantly is there need for NIN.

Hey,
It’s specific to mums unfortunately. As for newborn’s passport, when we did ours in April (biometrics), we followed the instructions on the website. They didn’t ask for NIN and we got the passport in August. I don’t know if things have changed though.
Just Google Nigerian high commission Canada passport for newborn.

LANDING GIST!!!

So left Nigeria on the 25th December (Xmas day) (memorable day..lol)Landed in Toronto on the 26th.

Check in was stressful cos I had a lot to carry(no regrets tho) helps save cost while you navigate being a first timer in a Canada.

Check in Toronto was a breeze..lots of people arriving that day..baggage claim was stressful tho cos of the influx of people trying to get their luggage(s).

Officers just asked for my Study permit and a consent letter from dad(since he didn’t travel with us). I actually had the letter for Nigeria immigration (little did I know Canada immigration will ask ). Noticed these officers ask for things randomly..they don’t ask travelers for same requirements.

Booked a regular taxi to our hotel cos the Uber we booked won’t carry my two year old without a car seat..(haven’t had car seat issue since then) that particular Uber was just overly dramatic..tho it’s essential to have a car seat and a stroller still…

Hotel check in was easy..enjoyed my hotel and wished I would stay all through till I get an apartment..

Unfortunately,I spent just five days and moved to an Airbnb..currently at the Airbnb (nice apartment..fully furnished and feels like home.

Haven’t done anything major as it’s not an easy task getting an apartment cos of Choice, budget,Proximity to my school cos of the kids and most importantly requirements. The requirements from home owners/landlords are not what immigrants would have but of course, there are alternatives for this requirements like paying upfront or getting a guarantor (someone who lives in that province and meets all requirements to stand as a guarantor.

House search is still on…hopefully,I seal one soon..there are lots of house agents one can work with (Nigerians).

Popular places to search for houses online are kijiji,Facebook market place (beware of scam tho)

Getting an apartment is the key to other things like schooling and daycare for the kids..without getting a permanent apartment enrolling your kids in school and daycares may be impossible.

I rest my gist until I am fully settled…

In all, The country is cool..may have a rough start cos of course,it’s relocation (relocation is huge)

In all..it’s a 10/10 place to be..

Will be back soon for more gist…

PS: Bring plenty money when coming ooo..lol

Don’t say I didn’t tell you.. wink
