if u are sure the land is not 8n dispute, quietly go get a surveyor let him resurvey the land try and get the name and address of the people that sold the land, without them knowing ur plans and write another agreement and sign it urself. Also go to court and get an affidavit all quietly. If not people weh sale the land to ur father go come collect the land as soon as they hear the documents don lost.

that is if the land document don reach there. They only keep copy when u apply for C of O or probably have C of O.

If you can locate the family that sold the land, they usually have copy of every land sold, pray the family is a good one else it is very risky, they could deny ever selling the land to your father, even if family is good they will still demand some huge money to prepare a replica of what is lost, this is the best option though.

if try that one u are on scale 9f 60: 40 to lose the land.
First they didn't sale the land to him and probably when it sold they may had sold it cheap compare to the current price.

Even if you had the land documents, you can't still sell it. There is a legal process to go through before you can transfer the property to a 3rd party. I have stopped giving legal Advice for free. Contact me if you need any. I will charge you for the cost of the legal Advice. Nothing goes for free in Nigeria anymore.

I don't know which state u are speaking from, but here In Rivers state It doesn't work like that. I'm even sure in lagos it doesn't work too. If not, how come the so call omo nile will sell one land to more that 3 persons.

Don't understand the type of document you Lost if is deed of assignments, it comes with four documents one for the land seller, one for the lawyer that prepare the documents and other two copies for you. You can still contact the lawyer that prepare it.

If is survey, just contact a surveyor and take the coordinates of the land, the surveyor will take it to lands or surveyor general office and another surveys copy will be issued,


If is C of O, just go to lands with affidavits of Lost documents.

Consult a lawyer. You can do a fresh Deed of Assignment and a fresh survey plan.

You might be right, considering the facts land documents are not something you move around with, it's something you can keep in your home in a secluded area, so I'm wondering how the documents got lost when the house was'nt burnt down, nor any story of theft...

Update: When my father was alive he collected 2m loan from a bank with his landed property and completed the loan and he wanted a bigger loan the bank told him they won't accept landed property for a bigger loan then he brought his 2 buildings for 20 million loan which the landed property wasn't included in the 20milliin loan...My Late father requested for the landed property from the bank they refused to give him the landed property documents.. And now he is dead..We are now finding a way to retrieve it and sell it..
Any guide??

Truly bank is with the property...but my late father completed the payment before he died

What if area is not in vogue and homie wants an uplift?

Better erase that mentality!

Most of the real estate you cherish today will be disposed by your kids cos their taste will be on another level.

Your lawyer knows what to do. Eg Go to land records and get a certified true copy of the documents.
