Please I need help, I'm almost running into depression.

I have a sponsor who wants to sponsor me to study in the USA. I've written and passed my IELTS exam, Money isn't much of a problem also, I've traveled to the UK before. Here's where my wahala is;

I'm 31 years old, I'm a technician, I've been to the university but didn't complete it, I want to apply for a BSc in computer engineering, my waec result is from 2008 although I wrote and passed Neco in 2020. I want to know if it would be possible and also which schools can I apply. Another thing is, am I to apply as a transfer student or new student?

Please don't be depressed oh. At least you have a sponsor, what of those of us that don't have?

Yes, it's possible to gain admission for Computer Engineering. There are several schools offering the course. Fill out the application form for fall 2023. Apply to 2 or 3 schools. I was also a dropout so don't lose hope. I wish you the very best.

You could have used this time to compose and send an enquiry letter to schools of your interest. I dont have to smother you with sweet response cos I’m not your therapist.
Sounding like an arrogant novice, using an agent for F1 will ruin ur chances. Try it and come tell us about ur expriences
I'm picking up those as intended advice. Gracias

I guess it depends on how you sell yourself and your current career path. If you have been working in a computer field even without a Bsc, you can work on convincing the VO that you want to officially get a Bsc in this field and maybe an advanced degree because it aligns with your future ambition.

Be prepared for the tough questions and use google to find schools.

As for transfer, we don’t know what classes you completed and if the school you end up choosing will allow you transfer the course after evaluating them. Different schools have different requirements. Like I said earlier, you have your work cut out and even though everyone is not saying it in the language you feel is appropriate, they are right.
Best of luck wink

Yeah, my work is security, computer electronics and renewable energy. I think convincing the VO would need lots of knowledge on my field which I know I'm prepared for... I'll keep contacting schools sha, Thank you

Good luck.
Another option is to finish your degree in Naija witj a good gpa, then apply for a PhD program that is not self-funded…an 1-20 form with US scholarship is very attractive to VOs… then get your masters and japa if you dont like reading and research.

O mehn, the option of re-studying in Naija is out of it for now, I know the amount of shallow and non enthusiastic so called lecturers we have in our universities here. I want a passionate and indepth knowledge of what I am studying from an environment like US or Germany. Thanks for the heads up, I'll keep that option of BSc to PhD in mind.

I think he meant fraudulent documents like bank statement, degree result, work contracts or identity card (despite never worked in that company or know where it was ), fake marriage certificate or divorce documents (To proof ties or lies in having only access to kids for sole purpose of relocating abroad....you know, like claiming deadbeat father when the said person is not) etc
So u can't take your kids with u if u r separated with your husband but not divorced

From the little I know, separated is not in the options when choosing. It is either you are married, or single or divorced or widowed.

Going with this, you can't claim divorced because you don't have documents to tender of such happening. You should figure out how you want to go about it. The only certain thing in all these is that you need express permission from their father to take them to USA. It could be in form of letter, and evidences like group pictures and birth certificates to prove his ties to the kids. Anything aside this is purely kidnapping, and human trafficking of minors.

Be guided in the way you make this move.
Peace.

When it comes to minors the other parent must consent for you to take them abroad it is an international rule to stop child trafficking.
That said if the children have passports it is assumed that they have consent because for them to be issued passport both parents must be in agreement.
In addition always carry a consent letter from the other parent when traveling out with them.
I will advise you go with it too to the embassy Incase of "incacity".
Better to be over prepared than under prepared.
E get why

NOTE
I CAN GIVE YOU SAMPLES OF CONSENT LETTER WHICH I USE FOR MY KIDS.

This is not the place to get these answers. Send a lot of emails too many schools and they’ll respond to ur request. Also Google is ur best solution

Lol. Naija lecturers are not really going to stop you if u would want to continue ur studies and get a higher GPA.
The strength of your application is going to be measured by your Naija academic qualification; which in your case… is scanty or not enough. Age is also not on your side to pursue undergrad in the US. You will have to explain the career/knowledge gap btw the last time you left school and now. Good luck

Make sure it’s in a different specialty from what you obtained in the UK.
I know of someone who obtained MSc in pediatric nursing and switched to Nurse Anesthesia..

That's true. I'm trying to build up a portfolio for every single knowledge I've learned during the gap years. Hopefully, I hope it would be convincing enough. Another thing is, I noticed most of the interviews including the approved and rejected, seem to fluctuate round the VO trying to grill you to know if you did the whole admission process yourself and also how motivated you are educational wise. I might be wrong sha

Not entirely accurate about VO’s rejection and approval. You have to prove to VO beyond reasonable doubt that your chosen course is going to be fully funded… and also it would beneficiary impact Naija. You have to clearly articulate your passion and knowledge of your chosen course in a way to convince VO.
Your weakest link is why becoming a US-trained Engineer now? Why didnt you pursue it in Naija or Uk?
Or do you have a successful company that you have built for all the time you weren't in school?
Or do you have a verifiable and reputable companies that you have worked for since you left or dropped out of school? Is your I-20 funded by a relative or an employer?

Those maga gave me admission with no fundings. Both chemical and environmental engineering. I'm just hoping that my PhD admission will come with fundings.
well.... they stated it on their website that their MS degrees do not come with funding. However, that's not the same for their PhDs because they do come with some kind of funding. we await the outcome of their decision
