Good topic for discussion. Unless in case of unforseen occurrence, no child school in boarding school or same-sex secondary schools. Boarding schools should be discouraged by nollywood actors, journalists, musicians, religious leaders etc. They are agents of social change.

It is really a multifaceted issue

The biggest problem is the easy availability of adult material. When we were kids, you would be lucky if you stumbled on a mislabelled video cassette. You would then have to plan it well as there was only one vcr and it is in a public space in the house.

But today, it is a click away. And children see these things and do not understand it is entertainment. And they start copying everything.

Schools also play a part because the Nigerian model is to be reactive rather than proactive. Sex education is if you penetrate you are pregnant. Finito. So the children are again, learning about sex from themselves or porn rather than from adults.

It is much more complex than the this generation has spoilt talk

The last thing I will do is to enroll my child into a boarding school.

You are in school to learn and any form of atrocities won't be tolerated

The problem with the world now is parent, don't have too much children that you can't take care. If you must marry and you don't have enough money have only one child, having 5 or 6 children is not gate to heaven.

I just left the staff room to go pee, that’s where I saw some junior student outside mumering…I moved close to them to ask what the problem was…they told me that the seniors are doing something in one jss1 class…

Initially I thought they were smoking cos we caught one of the seniors…a girl for that matter smoking loud inside d school…

I just called one of their teachers and explain what the student told me….

So myself and d teacher sneak through the window…
Omo it was life watching live porn…if u see d way the student were romancing themselves….pressing themselves….haaa


We later learnt they they even rent a room at d back of the school where they use to go after closing to do their rubbish

In my FGC, some senior girls influenced my female classmate (JS3 then) to go to a party with them.

She was drugged and raped.

She reported, the girls were severely dealt with, and her parents took here away from the school.

Maybe its the phone he is using, but his message is clear, in my days we didnt use smart phones, no tvs in hostels. No radio sef.

You went to class, came back for lunch, 90 minute siesta, then evening prep.and dinner.

You washed your clothes, made your bed, perfomed general sanitation in your rooms and school environment.

There was a standard football field for sports, there was morning devotion. Things needed to develop a child mentally, physically and spiritually.

Do students in these over priced boarding schools of today do chores? Laundry is done for them, there are no play grounds, no physical activity to keep them fit.

Instead these children are crammed in confined spaces for up to 10 hours everyday, they have smart phones to download porn, they dont read, their exams are done for them, their beds are made for them, surrounding cleaned for them.

All that free time is used to watch porn and they d like to try it out , this is the result.

It all boils down to lack of parental responsibility and moral decadence. During my days as a corp member, almost all the teachers at my PPA, including the principal were having sexual affairs with the female students. The Dean of studies in that school even encouraged me to sleep with the girls telling me that they are always willing to. At some point some of my female students were toasting me openly while the rather shy ones offered to come cook for me or do my laundry. These girls were between 13-17 years old. I'm no saint but where I come from, we don't do girls that young.
