Adaptation doesn't mean staying in an abusive relationship, it means getting use to each other and creating room for the other to adjust. Both of you are coming from different backgrounds so give room for each other to adjust this is expected of both of you and not just you. I followed this rule all my life and I will say I have never really get into any serious problem in any relationship I have tried my hands on lol.
