In addition to what Qtguru said, there is no skill you can “quickly” learn to make money on the current Upwork. Anyone would tell you for free that the competition now is very stiff. The easiest being Data Entry is so saturated and as a Nigerian, you stand no chance when put against a $3/hr Filipino.

As a civil engineer, what do you know how to do?!! Stick to what you know or take the time to develop at least intermediate proficiency in a choice skill.

Most of my civil engr. Work as being revolve around using civil engr. Software (civil 3d...for highway design and orion for structural design), all other experience are field work

Internal designers seem to be making a killing

for this you need to learn a quick 3d app
you need to learn rendering
you need to learn post processing
you will also need a powerful pc

you will have challenges with engineering jobs because
1) the profitable ones are american - and americans use a different set of standards - right down to their units of measurement kg vs pounds, metres vs feet, even different symbols

2) a lot of them expect you to be american or state licensed

you can try british and australian as they use the standards we are used to - but you may tey before you break in

there is a potential for project management f you can flip it

an old boss is there and has been telling me to look for American jobs. he says there is a dearth of project managers and i will fit right in.

I have a feeling those are bots because Clients on Reddit complain that most of the proposals are automated.

You'd have to look at Administrative skills like Data Entry, Content Management and etc

I will advise doing some Google on Administrative skills or skills revolving around a platform e.g Wordpress

Still applying for.jobs without any positive outcome yet. The last time I got an interview, we already finalized everything and the client said I should pause, that he will get back to me. When I checked the job posting, he already hired someone else, not giving any reason. I'm still trying though, I rewrote my profile overview yesterday and still designed new samples for my portfolio, I even changed to a professional profile picture. The painful thing is that someone I showed how Upwork works applied for a job and boosted with 40 connects, and she got the job. It's really competitive.

Good morning everyone. Please I’d need your inputs and expertise on this. I used to be active on Upwork in 2021 and had writing gigs then but I got a job towards the end of 2021 so I abandoned my Upwork totally. I work in a media company so I’ve gained skills like script writing, video editing and voice over. I’m thinking of resigning my job and going back on Upwork to offer video editing services.

Do you think it’s advisable to do so?
Secondly, I have some good reviews on my profile already but they’re for writing and for 5$/10$ gigs. I tried to re-editing my profile to fit my new niche but My JSS score reduced to 80% Should I ditch just my old account and create another account ?
