wirinet:Ok let the tumultuous journey continue as the middlebelt tribes are wiped out and their lands supplanted by foreigners. When the middlebelt is gone and you have them right on your necks, I guess that is when you will understand the enormity of the problem. The millions of uneducated and religiously indoctrinated almajiris is a weight you definitely can't bare. Look at Burkina faso and Mali, this is what you'll have to deal with. The problem is far beyond the political class. The traditional as well as the religious are deeply in it. I don't want to share a country with them and will continue the fight for the sake of my descendants and land. You guys can stay with them. I wish you all the best in your parliamentary system. Count us out though. |

Fejoku:According to the most credible history from various facts and from Ojukwu himself, after Aburi Accord, he felt the FG were insincere. Being determined to damn their consequences, he announced secession which triggered reaction from govt. What Ojukwu should v done was to wait for govt to fail in their promises after few months and label the govt as the ones who breached agreement. |

codemaniacs: People like him were already fanning the flames of hate and believe me. It was inevitable. The distrust and hate was already sewn into the foundation of Nigeria as a nation by hateful individuals like the Sarduana of Sokoto. It was not just him. In 1945. There was a riot where many Igbos was first killed. Then, there was the 1953 riot organised by a Northerner named Mallam Inua Wada of the Northern People’s Congress {N.P.C}. As a result of the anticipated visit of Chief Akintola's visit to Kano. Akintola was a member of the South West, Action Group Party which irritated the Northern NPC party. You now see why there were some Yorubas involved in the 1966 coup. There was the 1965 wild wild West riot before then. The only thing is the Igbo officers as per the Nzogbu Nzogbu attitude of Igbos put in their all and were at the forefront of correcting this distrust and tribal hate already evident in the young Nigeria project so as the revolutionary coup failed. The rest pushed the narrative as an Igbo coup thing. I bet you if the coup had succeeded. The other tribes won't have called it the Igbo coup. |

RussellRutherfo: Normal and sane people don't correct distrust and tribal hate by killing the leaders of other ethnic nation's because that will make things worse.. The coup succeeded and it was an Igbo coup and it was taken over by another Igbo coup which Ironsi led.. The coup and Ironsi coup was about igbos taking over Nigeria and dominating the other ethnic nations which is why Ironsi created the unification decree to take all revenue from all the regions to the federal government because Ironsi and his fellow Igbos thought they will be military head of state forever. That's also one of the reasons after Ironsi was killed in a counter coup Ojukwu did his own coup to take over Nigeria under the guise of seceding.. It was a Igbo vs north issue but Igbos transferred their aggression on the Western region and Yorubas. |

Goodlady:Well, that timing will mean one thing which is that he had accepted Gowon's overall prominence which is what he didn't want to accept knowing fully well what that portends for the entire south. Waiting for Gowon to fail won't have helped Ojukwu anyway as the newly created states from the Eastern region would have moved on with new administrators totally subservient to Gowon and the north. What psychological effect would that have had on the entire Southern Nigeria? Don't you think that the southern minorities would have felt that Igbos don't have the guts to challenge the north and feel defeated already? The only benefit I see with Ojukwu delaying for Gowon to fail was the prevention of the massive death Ndigbo and other Easterners suffered during the war. On the other side, Gowon would have been toppled earlier by Murtala and he would have carried on with the jihad Ahmadu Bello had set out to do. The middlebelt would have been the worst affected without Gowon being able to do anything. |

Even the so called coup was only led by Kaduna Nzeogwu.....as one of the most brutal members of the coup plotters was Adewale Ademoyega, a yoruba military officer. MOOORON! |

codemaniacs: Your opening sentence which is "Normal and sane people don't......" Is no disrespect to you totally nonsense. Read up the history of any nation. When there is a revolution especially one like that of 1966 that seemed like it was majorly targeted at non-igbos. It is the leaders that must catch the blow especially evil leaders like Sarduana of Sokoto that had Islamic Nazi behavior. I am of the opinion that these youthful exburent officers of igbo origin was "over-forward" on a fight that was supposed to be between the Yoruba(Action Group) vs Hausa(NPC) as there was already a riot in 1953, 13 years before the 1966 revolution where a Northern political leader by name, Mallam Inua Wada of the Northern People’s Congress lead this riot in anticipation of Chief Akintola's visit to Kano over some perceived insult to some Northern political leader who was booed at the Lagos parliament. They were rival parties and Mallam Wada got ready 1000 men to retaliate this insult that happened in Lagos. Guess what tribe was caught in this cross fire when Chief Akintola failed to show. It was the Igbos as always who were massacred in numbers. These young Igbo officers carried the matter to clear young Nigeria of all these corrupt politicians (if only they could see into the future and see that the corruption of those days politicians would be a joke compared to the ones of today). I believe they would have taken a different action. This is where the Igbo people have to learn how to be cunning like the other tribes especially like the Yorubas which has always kind of helped them in this Nigeria arrangement. You see the Igbo man agrees to do something with you. He goes in bravely and most times do 120% when what you wanted from him was 80%. This is sometimes their undoing. These young officers meant well for the nation but unfortunately did not execute the whole thing properly. |

dalass:oga don't change the topic. And stop misrepresentation of facts. You make it look as of the Igbos waged war on others. These were officers who for whatever reason decided to plan and execute a coup. People like you who are easily brainwashed or maybe don't have a high IQ should endeavor to learn from those who know. We have several coups involving people from the same tribe but it's only the one that had igbos that has been magnified. Abeg make una rest with all these fabrications. |
Re: Statue Of Nzeogwu Erected In His Home Town Of Okpanam - Picture by codemaniacs: 10:08pm On Jan 16, 2023 |
RussellRutherfo: 1966 was a coup by hatred filled Nzeogwu who hated non-igbos with passion. in the 1960s , nzeogwu exhibited such hatred towards Yorubas. "According to a Nigerian Police Special Branch Report, nzeogwu executed at least 4 army and police security personnel including one of the men on his team (Sergeant Daramola Oyegoke). nzeogwu also participated in the execution of Col. Raph Shodeinde, his superior officer at the Nigerian Military Training College and is reported to have shot indiscriminately at fleeing women and children..".. the statement above shows pure hatred for Yorubas and a lot of igbos all have this similar behavior towards Yorubas. The Igbo coup leaders did not mean well for Nigeria and wanted to forcefully take over all regions in Nigeria and that's why they only targeted non-igbo leaders. It's not the business of igbos if there's corruption in the northern region, mid West region and Western region.. Their business should start and end in the Igbo region and not the entire eastern region. |

codemaniacs: You are suffering the effect of that failed revolution today with the North dominating the Nigeria Political landscape. A people whose leaders didn't want Nigeria but wanted to secede. This distrust between the North and the South(Yorubas and Igbos) even goes back as far as 1922 when Clifford Constitution stipulated that a Legislative Council administer the East and Western regions. From between the periods of 1945-1950. Oil just discovered in the Igbo dominated Eastern region. Do you know the Emirs of Katsina and Zaria demanded that they be given 50% of the seats in the newly formed Central Legislature. The Emirs threatened to secede from Nigeria if their demands were not met. The acceptance of these demands signaled the beginning of northern domination of Nigerian national politics. Prior to independence, the Ibo dominated the political, social, military and business institutions of Nigeria. After independence, the Ibo lost their privileged status, while the Hausa/Fulani gained affluence and controlled the federal government. This shows you the hatred against the Igbos from the very founding days of the nation and the large scale corruption that this nation was built on. Imagine, as a young Army man living close to these corrupt Northern politicians like Sarduana of Sokoto whose agenda of hate against the Igbos ten years after from 1950 steamed from the fact that since some of their Emirs demanded 50% of seats as oil was discovered in the Igbos dominated Eastern region then his and other northern political evil Islamic leaders like him turned it into a hatred of Igbos and their seemingly control of the North by Northerners. All these were personal agenda of greed and have a hand in the new oil pie. Imagine, as a young Igbo Army officer seeing all these massive corruption and realizing this was not the Nigeria of your dreams 6years after independence but a massive personal agenda to control Oil and Nigeria while using the vehicle hatred of Igbos to ride in. These revolutionaries struck as evident it was not just Igbos but other tribes like young Yoruba and middle belt officers. Their only failure. This revolution failed to succeed as their Lagos counterpart didn't do what they plan to do. If they had succeeded. Nigeria would have gone on to success and probably the Nigeria-Biafra Civil War may not have happened. |

codemaniacs: I didn't answer the Nimrod guy because he insulted me. They are a tribe known for physical intimidation and online bullying. They will make Obi lose. Erecting a statue of Nzeogwu, a coup leader who killed Northern and SW leaders is saying they celebrate him for killing other tribes.Nnamdi Azikiwe who supported the North to be prime minister was spared. Thank you for seeing this. They're suffering their acts of betrayal, division, unwarranted cold-blooded murders. Yet they cry as if they're the victims. Karma is dealing with them until they learn that they should sow what they want to reap! I actually wish they can have their Biafra, their hatred is legendary |
Re: Statue Of Nzeogwu Erected In His Home Town Of Okpanam - Picture by codemaniacs: 8:47am On Jan 17, 2023 |
RussellRutherfo: Again the coup was a success.. it was a coup to kill off non Igbos and dominate non Igbos it was not a revolution. Before independence Igbos were favored by the British and got political positions and posts outside their Igbo region that the Igbos were not supposed to get. After independence the regions took the political positions and posts that was originally meant for them. After independence the first president was nnamdi azikwe so that nullifies your claim that north controlled the federal government, it was Igbos that controlled the federal government and nnamdi azikwe used his presidency to give Igbos appointments outside the Igbo region and this was the beginning of division. Igbos never had a privilege status.. the regions took control of what was rightfully their own. Igbos are the ones mostly suffering the effects of Ironsi unification decree.. 2 Likes |

That coup was not an Igbo coup, sadly an Igbo officer leaked details of the coup to Azikwe who then left the country before the putsch took place. Hausa and Yoruba political leaders were killed and no Ibo political leaders were. Hausa and Yoruba senior officers were killed, I can't recollect any senior Ibo leaders being killed. Even though the Political leaders deserved what they got because of their excesses, that status quo of skewed killings was always going to result in a "return match". Nzeogwu was a selfless hero and we need more off him. |
