The male child is just overrated, the text in bold is what happens in majority of households today and what happened even in times past.

When I say the male child is overrated I don't mean that as a diss, but the reality of having them can prove to be a severe disappointment to most parents as he grows older.

I'm sure most of us are familiar with one or two families, where an adult male child is a nightmare and terrorist to his own parents. At 35 or 40 he still lives at home, steals his parents properties to sell for quick cash, smokes or drinks excessively and contributes nothing valuable to his folks.

Whereas his sisters who moved out after graduation, got married or got jobs, are the ones taking care of their parents, sending weekly or monthly allowances for them to buy food, pay the light bills, do house or car repairs, etcetera.

Yet, you will find such a son claiming ownership of his father's house and properties, the same house he still lives in but cannot contribute even N1000 for cooking gas, fuel for the gen to pump water or repairs.
