Really happy for you. My daughter also applied to this school and we're still awaiting decision. Please is this for fall 2023 semester and did you get any funding from the school?

Vo: Good morning
Me: Good morning ma
Vo: Have you ever traveled out or to the US before?
Me: No
Vo: When did you leave high school?
Me: I left high school in December 2020, after which I took the SAT and an online AutoCAD course where I learnt how to create 2d and 3d design models. I currently intern as an automotive assembler at Innonson Vehicles Manufacturing Nigeria, Nigeria's first indigenous car manufacturing company that specializes in the production of cars with utmost consideration of Nigerian roads, to provide more efficient and suitable products at more affordable prices. My roles at Innonson are to assist the engineers to gather the equipment and devices that are used to assemble the parts and components of cars, generators and bikes. I also assist the engineers to carry out tests to ensure the assembled devices operate as they should.
Vo: oh, everything checks out...(looking at her screen, guess she was reading my ds160)
Vo: Tell me why you decided to go to Howard
Me: I chose Howard because (Vo cuts in)
Vo: Did you apply to other schools?
Me: Yes, Drexel University in Pennsylvania and Hofstra University in New York. But I chose Howard (Vo cuts in again)
Vo: I see your uncle was sponsoring before but now it's your mum. it's changed...then she started typing
Me: Yes. it's a thing in the yoruba culture that anytime an aunty or uncle has been helped greatly by another family member, he/she sees it as his/her responsibility to reciprocate the energy. In my case, my parents were the ones who sponsored my uncle's university education, so he took it at his responsibility to sponsor me to study anywhere in the world. But my mum is more than capable to sponsor me.
Vo: what does she do?
Me: (About to talk) then she says nevermind. She was looking at something on her screen, I guess she was reading my ds160. I put in what my mum does in my previously denied section.
Me: Can I go ahead to tell you why I chose Howard?
Vo: Sure
Me: I chose Howard because it's curriculum emphasizes on experiential learning, which would allow me to make use of its well equipped research centers and laboratories, most especially in the field of Nanotechnology and artificial intelligence. With this, I'll be able to transfer knowledge and make an impact when I return back to Nigeria to work at Innonson where I currently intern.
Howard also resonates my love for African American culture and heritage, and is in fact one of the highest producers of African American graduates in the US who set out to do many great things in the field of STEM. I don't want to be an exception to this as I'll be returning to Nigeria to use my degree from Howard to contribute to the future prosperity of engineering here in Nigeria.
Vo: oh, wonderful
starts typing...she then said "I like your watch"
Me: oh, thank you. I could also get you one. She started laughing then I smiled
Next thing. your visa has been approved!

lmao, she think say I fit afford original hublot watch, don't kill me please. Confam Original fakeπŸ˜‚

I just forwarded it. It isn't my transcript.

Although, I did apply to Howard (yet to hear back). Howard is extremely secretive about how they determine the financial aid they give out. They used to have clear cut scholarship criteria based on SAT/GPA that they followed, but that isn't the case anymore. All I've been able to learn from contacting them is that they are moving away from merit-based scholarships and towards need based financial aid.

I'm expecting 50-75% funding from them though.

There are many legit pathways, get a job and employer files for you through H1B. Another option is NIW EB-2. There are some other ways too.

You mean like those that were recently sacked and have sixty days to find a new employer or leave the country? The same people whose green card applications have automatically reset to zero as they got retrenched?

Hello
Plz is it advisable to use a friend who is currently doing his masters in the US as one of my recommendations
when applying for masters degree in the US

Thanks

Sure, you can.

I did something similar during my time, but my friend was a PhD Student not in the school I applied to.

Hey guys, if you're willing to withstand the extreme cold during the winter season in Colorado, I'd advise you guys to apply all major schools here. (UC Boulder, CSU Fort Collins, UC Denver, Colorado School of Mines, etc). This is unlike the East coast and Southern US with many applicants but better seasonal weather.

Generally, there are few blacks here and not many Nigerians come to the Mid-west due to the cold, and life style. Hence, I feel you stand a chance of being funded with a very good profile.

Reach out to me for a referral link for your credit card if you're resuming this spring or you just arrived the US this January. There's a mutual benefit.

Who said so?

That you have not gotten doesn't mean they do not give funding. It depends on what you put forward, and how you went about it.

That's what I'm saying. It varies for programs. PhD are mostly funded, and a friend is there for his PhD in Engineering. If I were you, I'd reapply for that PhD he told you about.

Good! I hope it files at the Embassy.

Are you talking about one company Google?
If you’re in stem, you can file for yourself.
If you’re in healthcare, your employer can file for you

Hello everyone. I have a question, If someone got a UK Tier 2(Healthcare worker) visa and maybe 2months in the UK he went for a U.S F1 student visa, will it be an issue at the US embassy during interview. Will the US visa officer not see it as a red flag?
