I'm not behind any useless Emefiele n his shiiity reforms. ATMs still reel out old notes in remote areas during weekends, will you reject your money? Besides, pos can withdraw above 20k per day but normal accts can't. No be juju be Dat?
And if I may add, politicians will always find a way, the problem will always be with the masses.

In Nigeria, it's 90% cash based. That's why them criminals are fighting the new policies.

They can get them, but not ina quantity needed for massive vote buying. APC had budgeted between #5k to #15k per vote

The unfortunate thing is that most of you are reasoning anticlockwise in this country. They actually want people to rush and deposit all the cash to the bank despite the unavailability of the new notes, after which they will tender a flimsy or one stupid excuse and then definitely extend the date after they must have gathered more cash for their vote buying, leaving you at the mercy of electronic banking.

Try to get use to nija scamming formula.
no extension of dates.

Did you see where Katsina approved 500m to welcome Buhari?

When election comes, they will tell Meffy to bring the new notes by himself. He is the one who will climb delivery bike and go deliver the notes.
It's a different case during elections. Right now, the old naira notes are available and it's what they've been using to bribe people to attend rallies. During election, those old notes will no longer be available and they can't use transfers to bribe people. I wont be surprised if commercial banks have "network problems" during the presidential elections

[quote author=Ddokie post=120336753]If meffy will do one good thing, it should be to ensure that the deadline remains. Even if he is to extend it, it shouldn't be more than a 2 week extension I.e. Feb 14 there about.

Under no circumstance should the present naira notes be available during the General elections.

If anyone thinks the senate is asking for an extension because they love Nigerians, that person must be joking. Their one and only reason for whining is because it will 'cut their ticket' which is vote buying.

Every well meaning Nigerian should support meffy. Take your old naira notes to the bank and lodge it in.

It would be tough to transact initially, but we will adjust in a month or two. Meanwhile vote buying would reduce significantly, which will ensure that BAT and his band of urchins would have been dealt a heavy blow on election day, and sent to the rubbish bin of infamous history.

Omo, you have no idea how much cash these guys have warehoused.

Yes, they will have access to the new notes but it will be nothing compared to the stash of old notes they have at the moment.

Do you know governors are paying contractors in cash as we speak?

[/quote Does that mean the politicians won't get access to the New Naira notes?

Tinubu has tried everything possible to make his vote buying work, but Emefiele and Buhari have refused.

Tinubu and Atiku whose plans are to rig the election with stashed cash have ran into a dead end.

No going back on the deadline for the old notes.

A new Nigeria is possible
You guys think that election start and end with obi because of your short sightedness and obi will not even need to mobilise people for the campaigns and election.

Whether you like it or not, there is no politician that does not buy vote if has the money through their party agents

Emefailure should do his job right, it appears the banks haven't received the new notes in sufficient quantities as of today banks are still distributing old notes, many ATMS in PH axis arent dispensing at all, something I haven't witnessed in a long time.

Emefailure needs to rise to the occasion, (dumb as baldie) angry

I hope you know that it's not only presidential elections that is coming up? Most of the reps, senators and governors are also seeking re-election or seeking another office, and they all need cash. Just watch and see what will happen. Emefiele can't win this battle.

Let them go and open bank accounts and lodge the monies in. simplicita.

Why are they unbanked in the first place? Make dem dey play, there money will rot in their hands. I have no pity for those ones.

The ones I sympathise with are those whose transactions would be hampered as a result of the change. I too will be affected because my business is completely cash based. But the benefit ( significantly reducing vote buying) outweighs any difficulties that will arise.

Let BAT and his urchins carry rice and ororo to polling stations on election day.

These people worship naira like gods. You need to see how massive their underground vaults are. They're the enemies of Nigeria . We can't wait ti send them packing come February. I still wonder why some people are running after them, despite destroying their lives. Emefiele must stand his ground on the deadline. Nigeria must move forward

If politicians want the deadline extended it will be extended, all they have to do is go to court and get an injunction. Simple. A court order supercedes even the President of Nigeria's decision.

It will be wife and safe to extend the time because as at today, banks are still given out the old notes, which is not supposed to be.

CBN didn't do well by printing limited [500m] of the new notes.

Serious Naira Scarcity will surely occur after the withdrawal of old currency.

Don’t just stay there and say banks are giving old naira notes. Make a video evidence and let us know or go to Twitter @cenbank or @godwinemefiele and post it there.
No more too much talk show action

the CBN knows what its doing . The new notes will be mopped up overnight if released into circulation just like that. They've printed enough. See what happens after the deadline given. You'd see new notes everywhere and in all banks. The idea of cbn is to punish those who have punished Nigerians and her economy. You have no idea how much these fools have in their various vaults and some people are hungry while others are leaving their father land in search of greener pastures elsewhere instead of staying home and developing their country just because the resources didn't circulate. Some people have sat on it.

Those who stockpiled stollen and fraudulent money in their houses and wharegiuses for the elections and to evade enforcement agencies are the targets of this policy.
Nest time they will learn that fraudulent and stollen wealth will surely end in nothing.

One thing u hv to understand is that, politicians all knows that citizens can only wail for 1 week and everything comes back to normal. Without Buhari's backup, Emefiele won't dare carry such policy, or do u tink that Emefiele woke up one morning and decided to carry out dis policy with Buhari's approval?

You can only bribe to get what's available. The new notes will be released in large volume only after the deadline is over. Emefiele knows what he's doing...punishing those who have punished Nigerians and her economy . The old naira will become useless in their vaults. I can only agree with you on the dollar side if you had mentioned it. But they'd still need to exchange it to new naira which isn't even available. Once the deadline is over, the withdrawal limit will be monitored closely.

What of those who are being paid old currency on the daily? I couldn't withdraw money on Saturday because first bank said they had only old notes, hence their refusal to load their ATMs while POS refused to pay only new ones! Whatever good is supposed to come from this dying of the naira notes has been defeated by their inability to make the new notes available

Emefiele is not insisting on the January 31st deadline because he wants to frustrate politicians from buying votes. No one appointed by any government will fight against the interest of that government.

He is doing it for selfish interest. He should go and defend the corruption charges against him. And he should say something about the leaked audio conversation where he was trying to cover up his mess.

Meanwhile, the quality of the new 1,000 naira note is unacceptable. Are we going backward or forward?

Methinks the banks may be "selling"the new naira note they have received from CBN from back doors to the politicians and fraudulent men who stockpiled their wharegiuses and homes with naira notes to beat the date while the banks in turn dishes out the old notes from the politicians back to the public.this way the politicians end up exchanging their I'll gothen money and restock in their wharegiuses.do you see a game here??
