A cousin was in Nsukka on official assignment. He made the same complaint about South East people too. I lived in the North for almost twenty years and I have seen some of their college graduates who could not communicate in English. If you travel wide, you will see this everywhere. Mind you our government is planning to introduce policy that will make primary and secondary schools teach pupils in local languages. On your second point, if killing your people in the name of seeking for a separate nation is what you call boldness, yoruba will not do that. Go back to pre-independence history of the country to know more about how yoruba political leaders fought the colonial masters to secure independence of 1960. Also read about the roles Eastern leaders played to establish who is more courageous. Yorubas are not nzobus. franchasng: 3 Likes 1 Share |

rippa: Osun is state in the Nigerian federation and the majority of the populace speak Yoruba. Why should he speak English that when they understand each other better in Yoruba? Again if you Atiku or Obi choose not to use their languages in their region it is not Tinubu's fault. On Muslim-Muslim ticket, the reality in Yorubaland is being muslim or christian means nothing when deciding who to vote for. Obi is targeting the Christian vote in the believe that will be enough to win the election. So why is it a crime when Tinubu targets the Muslim votes in the north? 3 Likes 1 Share |

daywatcher:Was it just Osun? Ogun, Lagos, Ondo and all the SW states he has visited. Obi is doing double campaigns in the states in the north where Christians and muslims are almost in equal proportions, kaduna(he did campaign in North nd South), kebbi, borno, etc. So i wondered how he is targeting Christians alone when his vice is a pure Muslim |
Re: My Observations So Far On Tinubu's Campaign In The SW by daywatcher: 11:05am On Feb 03, 2023 |
rippa: Ogun, Lagos, Ondo are all Yorubaland. Did Tinubu speak Yoruba when he campaigned outside the SW? Likewise Tinubu is not campaigning only in Muslim majority states. 3 Likes 1 Share |

susrite:Go to any Government office in a Yoruba state, their official language is Yoruba dialect and if you can't speak it you are a goner cos they will see you as an outcast. Why do you urchins love denying who you are? Yorubas speak Yoruba dialect more than English and Tinubu understands this very well, reason he campaigns in Yoruba dialect whenever he visits a Yoruba state, you know the truth ![]() |

daywatcher:Are the people coming to listen to Tinubu in those Yoruba states all Yorubas? Are u saying Tinubu is only campaigning to the Yorubas in yoruba lands? What of none Yorubas living there that came out to listen to him? Again When Peter Obi speaks igbo in the East or Atiku speaks hausa or fulani in the North, dont come here and shout tribalism |

rippa: In a democratic system that we operate majority carries the vote. Yoruba is the language of the majority of the populace in Yoruba states. Obi speaking Igbo in SE and Atiku speaking Hausa in North means we starting accepting our realities in Nigeria which is a positive 2 Likes |

susrite: I can assure you that you are wrong. I am living in London, and met a lot of Yorubas and I can tell you, they are not very fluent with English. Don't get me wrong, it isn't a problem. A Yoruba man can not go a day without speaking Yoruba which is a good thing. |

rippa:President Buhari campaigns in Hausa in the North. It is inexplicable why and how on earth Mr Obi has lived in Yorubaland for decades yet can not understand or speak Yoruba, it shows his disdain for his host's culture and language. The late Zik of Africa speaks Yoruba during campaigns while Late Chief Bola Ige speaks Igbo and Hausa fluently and use the language to campaign. Language is for communication and human relationship, Asiwaju is communicating and relating with the people and with such huge votes at stake in his SW base, he needs to connect on a deeper level with his people. If Mr Obi had been smart enough to learn and understand Yoruba, most Yoruba will not be seeing him today as an outsider. This is where most of my Igbo friends trump Obi, they speak Yoruba fluently today as proof that they have lived in Yorubaland. The Yoruba know that Mr Obi holds the Yoruba and Yoruba language in disdain and that is why after living for decades in Yorubaland, he can not speak Yoruba and missed the opportunity. Mr Obi is not different from another native Igboman who has never even stepped foot in Yorubaland. He is not smart to have ignored learning how to speak, read and write Yoruba. He is not smart at all. Today, he should be campaigning in Yoruba in SW, Igbo in SE and Datti helping him campaign in Hausa in the North. I once watched Oshiomhole campaign in Yoruba in Osun state and I watched Phillip Shuabu campaign in Yoruba in the Yoruba-speaking part of Edo state during the last Edo governorship election which he won. 3 Likes 1 Share
