I don't need to understand the constitution to know that the CBN naira design is fully backed by the president.
Unless the president says otherwise these Court cases will be stomped on.

Lol...

The president can back a policy....But can also review the policy and change his mind.

Also, the president would've given his executive order since when the supreme court overruled the deadline given by the CBN.

This is why you really have to understand the constitution, so you won't quote out of context!

Emefiele is really dealing with them. At the beginning of this policy Urchins were bragging that it has no effect on the politicians but have you seen Nigerian politicians fight this dirty before? The CBN knows how they used to rig in the past and this policy is a big clog in their wheel.

I bet you, I hope this policy remains, so that at least half of the Governors will loose this election and baba Bulaba. Their hope and faith lies in billions stashed in old currency to buy their way to power.

When politicians depend on our votes to win, they will have no option than to work for us, I stand with the CBN.

Mayb they shoul be redesigning the naira every election year, cos it is now the job of cbn to curb "vote buying" as u claim

Need I remind you that today is 11th February 2023. And that the old currency is not accepted even by banks as from yesterday afternoon.

Are you telling me you don't know all this things.
Why will CBN disobey Court order unless the president is involved?

How can you know the constitution and not know this basic things happening around us?

If the CBN governor was acting alone, the governor would have been arrested long b4 now.

The Supreme Court has original jurisdiction in any dispute between the Federation and a state or between states and also has appellate jurisdiction to hear and determine appeals from the Court of Appeal.

Lol...

CBN is not disobeying any court order..... They won't reply the court, they will have to go to the supreme court to clear and state reasons... Then the supreme court will make a statement to follow a new date by the CBN or ask for a new policy that will accommodate both the old and the new Naira notes...

Who born CBN to disobey supreme court order?

No bank is rejecting any old currency....that is the reason many banks are closed down.

I just went to get food stuffs and I used all the old notes and it's accepted.....

Stop deceiving yourself...

What an abuse of court process, the Judiciary should use this opportunity to redeem herself.

The NJC should recall or dismiss Justice Ariwoola for allowing the Supreme Court to admit El Rufai's suit in the first instance knowing fully well that monetary policy is under the exclusive list and prerogative of the Federal Govt, hence the states Govt lacks loci standi to even claim dispute and approach the court.
If this abuse is allowed to subsist it will spell doom for any future radical policy of the Federal government that can be beneficial to the masses.

What that means is that any state can sue the Federal Govt and get an injunction to frustrate any Federal policy they disagree with despite being on the exclusive list.
lol
So exclusive list will allow the country to burn if the president has gone gaga.
Rule of law supercedes all and it is in the purview of the supreme court.
Reason we have 7 justices. They cannot all go gaga simultaneously..

I wonder why the confusion is set when we understand the constitution of the country, we wouldn't be confused...

The supreme court judgement suppers the CBN policy....

Nigerians can use the both currencies, pending when CBN clears with the supreme court....

The only power that will supercede the supreme order will be the president's executive order for CBN to continue with the deadline...But as it stands today, there is no order from the chief executive officer of the federal republic of Nigeria....

Therefore, the supreme court ruling stands!

The confusion shows that we know little about the constitution that is guiding the entire country.....

The supreme Court case will be amended to counter the executive order if its against the Letters of the constitution. You do realise executive order can be challenged in the court of law.

Do you honestly believe "common man" will benefit from this extension?

We both know is only those that stashed old naira notes that stands to benefit from what the Governors prayed for in their suit.

They didn't ask for the bank to pay us old, they only asked for the old note to continue being a legal tender till June. Go and read it.

The "common man" can't even access the old notes, only those that hoarded it (which is the politicians) than will benefit.

It's simple, if they don't want the stashed old notes to be useful for vote buying then the new Notes should be made available enough
by the CBN for us to be able to withdraw 500k a week in line with CBN's new withdrawal limit. Anything short of that will cause untold chaos in the Land.

We don't care which denomination is printed in surplus, all we want is enough cash for our daily activities without having to pay through our Noses. I wonder why they waited this far to do the needful.

I don't hold brief for CBN, however there's no perfect system, I guess they underestimated impact of vested interests to hijack and derail this fantastic policy.

Initial twas like all banks refused to pick up the new notes from CBN, when they finally collected the money, they refused to load their ATMs. however, Globus Bank nationwide loaded their ATMs since December 29th which suggests other banks must have had access to the new notes thesame period.

It can only get better, I'm sure CBN has learnt some vital lessons.
By next week the Supreme Court will strike out El Rufai etal motion, there will be enough naira for genuine businesses and things will go back to normal after the elections.

@the bolded.. then it calls to question the competence of those in CBN.. my observation is even without the said hijack, they seem to have printed far less than requirements..
