Classic knee jerk reaction to a slumping death of a day student that happened at Agege stadium.

Very soon, even students' death in their parents house would result to a temporary closure of every school that child has ever attended, on the illogical pretext of investigating the death.

Just like the Nigeria Police, you arrest every living thing in the vicinity of a death, before establishing if the death was natural or homicide.

Chrisland should sue the Lagos State Government.
And you think you made sense?

Why does Sanwoolu’s government always come up with this knee jerk reaction each time such incidents happen ?

One would’ve expected the government set up a panel of inquiry , invite all concerned parties(parents of the deceased child , the school management , doctors that attended to the deceased child at the hospital , etc ) , obtain useful information from them and then carry out an autopsy to really unravel the circumstances surrounding the late child’s death .

Why close down the school thereby denying other students the chance of learning within the normal school calender year ? What exactly is the closing down of the school expected to achieve ?
. I don't blame you for this nonsense you have written. Have u lost a child before? When you do in this circumstances then you will realise why the school was shutdown. Learn to put yourself in other people's shoes. What the Lagos state government did was the right thing in any sane society or are you telling me now that the school is shutdown that investigation cannot go on? Even the students and her friends in that school can now be properly consoled. I bet u, if u have a child there, u will be the first to take your ward. No sympathy again since u are not affected. How do you think the students can even learn in that kind of environment. Pray to God to forgive your wickedness.

What's the reason for closing down the school?
Re: Lagos Government Shuts Chrisland School Over Whitney Adeniran’s Death by buJu234: 9:01am On Feb 13, 2023
Why are students only dying in the so-called expensive rich men's school?

with the millions they collect, at least they should have a school nurse specializing in CPR, and a stand-by Ambulance car (just in case).

also, tell parents to submit an annual medical report for their kids before school resumes..

It happens in rich and poor schools.Only rich schools get a response such as this from Govt. Its pretentious over Sabi not based on any systems or proven protocols.

There is a reason justice is said to be blind.True Justice is devoid of grandstanding and pretentiousness.Lagos States response in the absence of any panel or protocol is just that.

Nigeria does not need that,we need protocols and systems that is known to all and enforced on all both rich and poor.

Dont mind them, that's why Nigeria is wack . We use emotions where our systems should kick in.If we shut every school in Lagos because there was a scandal or non epidemic death (without investigation) will that be a good practice?

Where is the States protocol?

Please note epidemic cause of death have protocols which will automatically lead to the school been shut asap. In addition they are investigated and usually confirmed with 24-48hrs.

What and where is Lagos States protocol a SC regards deaths reported in a school?

What circumstance and How many days should the school be shut? How long should the investigation be,when and on what grounds will the school be opened? If this answers where not provided when the school was been shut, then yes its a classic (knee jerk response). And that is very bad for the country.
Re: Lagos Government Shuts Chrisland School Over Whitney Adeniran’s Death by Zincfingers:

All these issues you have raised and rightly too can be sorted out with an autopsy not by shutting down the school.
A child slumped, and that is what it is, people slump and die. From what we heard, she did not even participate in the activities as she complained she was not feeling OK.
The issue here is our habit of conspiracy theories. Someone even alledged the school bus driver should be arrested and investigated for sexual assault! What if the child had slumped at home? The parents will still ask what they did to her in the school that made her slump when she got home and demand the school be investigated.
As I wrote earlier, 2 kids were playing, one hit his head and got the normal lump on the head. Parents was informed, child taken to doctor by the school for examination. Dr recommended a CT scan. School paid (then) 55k. Scan was done. Dr raised alarm to the school of the presence of a growth/lump on the child's brain! Parent was informed. Parents confirmed they were aware for years, but were waiting for finances to fly the child abroad for treatment.
Some will drop or school bus will pick obviously sick kids, when school rejects them, parents (who want to go to work) grow wild that they paid school fees. That their kids are healthy. Even a child with smallpox, parents will fight that they must be in school!
Do you know how many kids will come to school with an empty stomach, same child without provision for snacks or lunch? We have seen kids faint out of hunger. Kids with stale, rotten food nko?
Abeg to run a school in Nigeria has its own peculiarities.
May her soul rest in peace and may almighty console the parents.
This is the best comment of the thread .
You really analysed the issue holistically.
The child could have had a pre existing medical condition that was undiagnosed sef.
I'm a Doctor and one thing Ive realised is that the human life can just snap at a moment's notice. It doesn't even have to be a big illness sef

An autopsy would help us see the true state of things .
May the girl rest well and I pray Almighty God grant the parents the fortitude to bear the loss

This is heartless and a sick comment. Isn't it the responsibility of the school to oversee the welfare of all students during interhouse sport? For an interhouse sport, shouldn't the school have a standby medical personnel that could administer first aid treatment? I just don't understand how heartless some people can be.

Imagine the school saying they had to rush to a nearby hospital for first aid, is this not even a sick press release on its own?

Intelligent nonsense is best to summarize this your epistle. I ask again, do you understand what is meant by duty of care? When you do you will review all you have written including the fact that a school where one literally pays through the nose does not have a skilled personnel to handle emergencies. This is not a Jakande school o. The rule of thumb is to be more careful when kids under your care are out of your immediate sphere. I don't blame you, I blame our system. That is what has inspired your position. I rest my case.
What duty of care? The school had a nurse on duty who stated the girl was dead on the spot but she couldn’t certify her dead because she is a nurse. Do we have paramedics in Nigeria? Where are they trained? All the people acting as paramedics in Nigeria are nurses. What do you mean by duty if care? You just heard the term and you are running agog with it. In standard setting, the people around would only initiate BLS protocol and call for help with ambulance. The ambulance would be there within five minutes. For your information, it is govt that ensures such ambulances are readily available. What the school owe them they did… they had a nurse who tried to resuscitate. They took her to the closest medical center. So tell me, what do you mean by duty of care for someone that suddenly arrested? They can’t do beyond what the system allows… even if they got her to hospital alive and she needed an immediate catheterization, it won’t be available anyway . Yes, we all need a scape goat in things like this… until you see the result of the autopsy, you are just spewing childish trash about duty of care.

Since it's not your daughter. It's easy to spew trash. A school always trending for terrific reasons shouldn't be temporarily shut and thoroughly investigated. Very selfish and childish from someone who does not know the value of a daughter's life. I guess you're a sadist.

Shouldn't a proper investigation be done first with the school closed to avoid a cover up?

Situation is still critical and the least the government can do right now when the parents of the deceased child and the public in general are in grief is to shut it down to either show solidarity or to create more time for investigation.

Death is the worst possible type of incident at school. It’s reprehensible. It can’t be treated like drugs or fire. It has to be investigated with all seriousness. I agree that an enquiry can be done whilst school is open, but an enquiry and investigation are two different things.

The initial police investigation would establish whether or not there was foul play - I.e. a criminal element. Whilst an enquiry would look at how this can never happen again.

They both sit separately. As such, I think before sending kids back, even parents would want to be sure the school is safe in its entirety for their child to attend. I don’t think anybody is shaking over missed education. Moreover, this is 2023 and we are still in a pandemic. Remote learning - especially for such calibre of school - should be effortless.
Possible you don't need to reply those guys. The ingrates are out to criticize any action taken by the LASG. To them everything is politics.

Haba, that's a new one! She was electrocuted?
Ok, was she electrocuted in the school or at agege stadium? Obviously in agege stadium, the venue of the sports activity. In that case from your logic, why not shut down the stadium and look for the electrical cable that shocked her?
How is "shutting down the school necessary" if they have to locate the live cable in agege stadium? huh
So obviously your read it and closed your eyes, still holding unto the previous claim that she collapsed.

Well until the investigations concluded, starting from the school to the stadium, no one knows for sure if she actually got to the stadium or the incident happened before the left for the stadium I commend the police in shutting down the school. Job well done

Think of it like this: a child sadly died whilst in the care of this institution and staff negligence has not yet been ruled out. The protocols, the child’s journey and general safeguarding should all be examined at close range. This can’t be done with the school still working in full capacity.

I have to use the term “MAYBE”, because what we are both doing is speculating - at best.
U are on point jare, shutting down the school premises for the mean time in order to get a proper investigation will not kill anybody. That other guy lawyer should rest Biko😎
