Maybe that exactly why it needs to be closed, to gather all the facts and evidence and make sure the premises are safe. A bit like a cordon.
what fact do you want to gather again. The incident happen outside the school. And listen carefully to the father first statement and you will notice that there is some kind of monkey hands inside pot of soup

Classic knee jerk reaction to a slumping death of a day student that happened at Agege stadium.

Very soon, even students' death in their parents house would result to a temporary closure of every school that child has ever attended, on the illogical pretext of investigating the death.

Just like the Nigeria Police, you arrest every living thing in the vicinity of a death, before establishing if the death was natural or homicide.

Chrisland should sue the Lagos State Government.

You are a classic foool to spew this rubbish.

A young vibrant girl that was said to have been electrocuted..

Why does Sanwoolu’s government always come up with this knee jerk reaction each time such incidents happen ?

One would’ve expected the government set up a panel of inquiry , invite all concerned parties(parents of the deceased child , the school management , doctors that attended to the deceased child at the hospital , etc ) , obtain useful information from them and then carry out an autopsy to really unravel the circumstances surrounding the late child’s death .

Why close down the school thereby denying other students the chance of learning within the normal school calender year ? What exactly is the closing down of the school expected to achieve ?

By the way, what's wrong shutting down the school pending investigation or strange death should not be investigated again?

All these are excuses that do not hold water in the face of proper scrutiny . The school has been in existence for decades and such tragic incident has not happened till now .

I ask Ionce again , what concerns the premises of the school with an incident that happened offsite ? Like it’s not making any sense however u choose to look at it.

The unfortunate incident happened at Agege stadium ; the venue of the inter house sports . There’s no record of amwhat happened having to do with the school premises so what exactly are they closing the school for ? The school bus picked the child up at her parent’s home from where she was taken to Agege .

The only way to get to the bottom of this is carry out autopsy , let the police authorities take the statement of her parents , the school staff, the driver and other adults who came in contact with her before the tragic incident , the first responders ( the school nurse ) etc . Closing down the school won’t achieve anyting like in the case of Dowen college .

If the students were not of Chrisland and were not participating in the inter house sports pray tell what will take them to the stadium. Don't you understand what duty of care means? So being at that stadium meant the students were no longer under the care of the school being the reason they were there in the first place. Make e no do you one day ooo.

You can say this because of the country we live in. Make this kain thing happen for Canada, UK or America.

They should have shut down all schools in Lagos then.

I guess the school premises turned her tongue black?

I now see Nigeria Police is actually as foolish as the Nigerian people from whom they are derived from.

I already mentioned it that all concerned parties should be invited by the panel of inquiry and useful information obtained from them to know the role each person played in the tragic incident . And yes this can be done with the school still opened .

Closing the school down is just denying other students the right to learn .
he sure me die that assuming it was you or any of your family or children this happened too, you would have mobilise thugs to go burn down the school Tey Tey

What is even more annoying is that it may turn out to be like the dowen case or even the sex case where a culpable parent deliberately tried to crucify a school in the court of public opinion. And in both cases it was the parents at fault.

It is inevitable though. After the nonsense at that kumuyi school, schools everywhere will be on the defensive

Ultimately it is the students who will suffer for these parental antics. When the school brings giant form for you to sign before you can enter school bus and demands medical report every term, everybody rye go clear

The best thing for the LASG is to investigate the cause of her death first and then they can close school down . I firmly disagree with the LASG move of closing down the school.

Hopefully this happen to your most loved child as you've decided not to have brain. Even if you don't have one yet, it's Monday morning and I pray the God who created Monday will make this happen so you can understand the pain of sending a child to school and the corpse coming back home.

If God is God I know it will happen to you sooner or later

You are actually a fool and I don't care if I am banned here. You lack empathy and your type with the 10 idiots that liked that your comments shouldn't be among the living. Do you know what it takes to even care for a pregnancy till maturity not to talk of a child till 12 years old That a school wouldn't ensure Thier safety while with them? You need to be checked!

Death is the worst possible type of incident at school. It’s reprehensible. It can’t be treated like drugs or fire. It has to be investigated with all seriousness. I agree that an enquiry can be done whilst school is open, but an enquiry and investigation are two different things.

The initial police investigation would establish whether or not there was foul play - I.e. a criminal element. Whilst an enquiry would look at how this can never happen again.

They both sit separately. As such, I think before sending kids back, even parents would want to be sure the school is safe in its entirety for their child to attend. I don’t think anybody is shaking over missed education. Moreover, this is 2023 and we are still in a pandemic. Remote learning - especially for such calibre of school - should be effortless.
All these issues you have raised and rightly too can be sorted out with an autopsy not by shutting down the school.
A child slumped, and that is what it is, people slump and die. From what we heard, she did not even participate in the activities as she complained she was not feeling OK.
The issue here is our habit of conspiracy theories. Someone even alledged the school bus driver should be arrested and investigated for sexual assault! What if the child had slumped at home? The parents will still ask what they did to her in the school that made her slump when she got home and demand the school be investigated.
As I wrote earlier, 2 kids were playing, one hit his head and got the normal lump on the head. Parents was informed, child taken to doctor by the school for examination. Dr recommended a CT scan. School paid (then) 55k. Scan was done. Dr raised alarm to the school of the presence of a growth/lump on the child's brain! Parent was informed. Parents confirmed they were aware for years, but were waiting for finances to fly the child abroad for treatment.
Some will drop or school bus will pick obviously sick kids, when school rejects them, parents (who want to go to work) grow wild that they paid school fees. That their kids are healthy. Even a child with smallpox, parents will fight that they must be in school!
Do you know how many kids will come to school with an empty stomach, same child without provision for snacks or lunch? We have seen kids faint out of hunger. Kids with stale, rotten food nko?
Abeg to run a school in Nigeria has its own peculiarities.
May her soul rest in peace and may almighty console the parents.
