You are trying too hard to convince no one! Rest oga!

Nairaland and Supreme court can say whatever they like... Governors can form activity from now till tomorrow!

The average Nigerian citizens listen to only two people: Buhari and CBN!

If these two people don't verbally and clearly rescind their imposed deadline (which is already past), then your old notes become your cross to bear!

Let's not bicker or bandy words online... Walk about and spend those old notes as you like!

I don't know your location, but everywhere I have been, most Nigerians are rejecting the old notes! Facts!

When you pay driver or mama put or trader or even supermarket, and they refuse to accept the notes, call Elrufai or CJN to come and lock them up!!!

No need beating chest online!!!

Are you done?, the supreme Court have spoken, if you like listen to cows, that is your business, neither Buhari nor CBN can't say otherwise, until 22nd you can cry me a river.

They said the Supreme court
You are talking about High Courts

If the High Courts refuse to accept an old naira note for the payment of an affidavit, it means that they (High Courts) are not in agreement with the stay order from the supreme court. Should I take the High Court to Supreme Court for justice?

Okay... Let's the case be dragging on... I don't mind .. but remember that SC is located in Abuja, and not everybody is in that Abuja... So when next u want to spend your old notes and it's been rejected, then tell the person that he must collect it.. okay...
Some of you thinks because the Supreme Court is the highest it can rule anyhow....
This case is under the jurisdiction of the Federal High Court... And since it involves the monetary policy, it's only the Federal government that can take the CBN to the SC...

Jurisdiction? Why did SGF stop the case like he boosted, the case is in the supreme court, are you going to take the supreme court to the High Court for lack of jurisdiction cheesy cheesy

You lots are just kids, you just say whatever some idiot tells you, supreme court have made its decision, take it to court if you are not pleased.

You are the one talking without sense, the supreme Court is the highest court in the land, the CBN has no power to say anything if the supreme Court is talking, even the president can't make a contrary statement.

Sir, CBN is not a party to the suit. Also, this issue borders on fiscal policy by agency of government. It's like someone dragging CBN to court over interest or exchange rates. The only difference here is that currency swap borders on morality (human rights), but again same arguments can be made for the scenarios I painted above. Truth is, Nigeria have always had weak institutions, and some of us have always celebrated this until now. This is a game of ostrich and only CBN and PMB can settle the issue.

The Supreme Court Judgement on ex parte motion stands. Old naira remains a legal tender unless SC vacates its judgement.

Folks can now start suing Mr Emefiele in his personal capacity, the CBN, any bank or institution that rejects it and ask for their commital to prison or pay compensation to them for injury or discomfort caused them for rejecting the old N200, N500 & 1000 notes.

Election holds in 10 days. Once Asiwaju Bola Tinubu wins, SC or no SC , old notes will remain till December,2023 and Emefiele will be fired.

How can you sue someone at the supreme court when the case should start at a lower court and you can't just carry your papers to the supreme court straight to sue him on personal ground.

Until the supreme court decides on the issue, no lower court can entertain such case unless determined, it will lack locus standing

I don't know the reason this APC supporters keep saying naira redesign was to thwart Tinubu effort for winning the presidential election. Are we not voting again with our voters card? Are we going to vote with old naira note?

To all Nigerians suffering this, I apologise on behalf of the CBN and FG. You're not alone, I'm also among those feeling the heat. Buhari had done 2 wonderful things which was why I voted him in 2015, given his antecedents but he's acting late. Well, better late than never shaa.. who says again that Buhari doesn't know what he's going? grin. I wish the indomie generation supporting nonsense witnessed his rule in the 80s. The 2 wonderful things he did were...

1) Reassurance on free and fair election by embracing BVAS

2) Naira redesign to cut their ill-gotten health to size. I keep saying this...Nigeria isn't a bad country. But the choices we make in electing bad people in government out of sentiments keep denting our image as a nation by allowing bad people to continue to hold sway. We will get sense someday.

So you acknowledge you're suffering the effects but still support it because it affected your imaginary enemy which is TInubu. Afterall, once we kill Tinubu Nigeria will become an eldorado abi? Dey play!

Let me tell you, it's easier to destroy things than building. Businesses that would be affected or destroyed by the policy would not be easy to rebuild. Emefiele that is simply bitter because he lost APC presidential ticket is not your concerns but Tinubu.

In the first 4 years we all saw how Tinubu was sidelined by Buhari and Abba Kyari and how well they ran the nation into debts. Tinubu supported Buhari same way he supported Fashola and Sanwo Olu to be governors. That Buhari ended up been a failure was never Tinubu's fault. That was on Buhari.

Tinubu will win and you will wail for atleast 4 years. And I'm sure El Rufai took you to his house where he was hiding the 22b also right?. This is why Aisha Buhari had to get someone like you arrested and beaten up weeks ago.

Where is the money? If Emefiele were to be a Yoruba man he would have been disgraced out of office by Buhari.

The IBOs propaganda machinery would have created chaos and scattered most part of Nigeria. Lagos would have been set ablaze and Lagos State properties and Tinubu properties damaged.

I don't rule out serious riots in the coming days.

Atiku and PDP don't invest much in South West. They did least campaign and investment in South West because South West have voting patterns that are not based on uncivilized and crude thinking. In 2019, on the eve of Presidential election, they said Tinubu brought money in two bullion vans. After the election, PDP won 3 out of the 6 South West States without spending a dime and much labour. If Tinubu were to be Hausa or IBO 80% of the votes would have gone to APC. What is the effect of the money except it is useful and of impact in the North and South East / South South.

Buhari and Atiku made me to believe BOKO is HARAM while ALMAJIRIN is HALAL because to BUHARI and ATIKU the present suffering of masses is HALAL while good economics is HARAM.

You are so incoherent, i do not know what you're even talking about.

Which last straw? What concerns Tinubu with adjournment of case by CBN? It is only in an underdeveloped country that Supreme Court statement is not understood by the blinds. The old note remains a legal tender until Judgement is delivered by Supreme Court. Next Week Wednesday, there is the likelihood of the judgement to be postponed again which legally makes old note a legal tender till after election.

If Banks are rejecting it leading to filling stations rejecting it and commercial buses rejecting it, it can only frustrate INEC and not Tinubu.

If decision will be taking because of an individual (Tinubu) that is affecting over one hundred million people, then that individual is 50% of the entire nation, he is half of the entire nation as a single personality. He is a superhuman.

Buhari and Atiku made me to know that BOKO is HARAM and ALMAJIRIN system is HALAL. Nasir El Rufai championed the abolition of ALMAJIRIN system in the NORTH as a genius who thinks deeply. It is now, I can see clearly the thinking of a genius and the thinking of Buhari and Atiku who see BOKO as HARAM and ALMAJRIN as HALAL.

All Kara Markets and International Cattle markets including Alaba Rago have stopped collecting old naira notes this morning while awaiting Supreme Court judgement by 2pm.

About 20 minutes ago, I just passed information to a Kara Markets leader that the judgement has been postponed till next week Wednesday.

The old notes are no longer accepted in most parts of Nigeria. People are now rejecting and avoiding them like a plague.

The CBN has instructed banks to not collect them again, so what does that automatically imply?

Anyone who collects them, is simply on his own, as he can no longer deposit them at any bank, but only at CBN offices.

Effectively, the old notes are no longer acceptable, even after today's postponement by the Supreme Court, no one is collecting them again.

Even if the Supreme Court adjorns again on February 22, it doesn't change the fact that it is no longer acceptable.

There are many legal loopholes the CBN can hide behind and ultimately President Buhari is backing Emefiele.

Let's see how it all pans out, but please don't fall victim, don't accept the old notes going forward.

Cheers.

Bros understand the process of adjudication in this matter. If CBN was a party to the suit, only the FHC would have jurisdiction not the SC. The litigants knew that. CBN has laws guiding it's operations and they've not acted outside of it. Like I said, it is a game of ostrich with high moral burden. There's no right or wrong. Look at this example, you're a part of your household headed by your dad, and you are acting in capacity that empowers you to take certain decisions. The EXTENDED (larger family head) family can only summon your father to explain your actions, not you. Until that issue is resolved, nothing stops you from executing your immediate household's mandate.
