Is this right?

Do people still ask this kind of question in today's world?
Except it's Prepaid meter otherwise you pay the same amount (50/50)

You have unlimited access when it come to Direct source of power. That you don't use the light like your landlord is totally your business.

Go and meet your landlord and complain to him about it so he would start preparing your Notice letter for you.

You lots are the type of people I don't fix in my house, peradventure you try to frustrate me like this I will deal with you in a way you never forget.

Your altitude shows you are they type that likes to cheat others. Your landlord must be going through hell.

Better don't drag with him. Bear the burden for the mean time, then try to acquire properties that would enable you enjoy your money's worth of the bill.

You can start with hot plate, Iron, Sound systems and then TV.

Another landlord bashing thread. angry

If it's both of you why shouldn't it be shared equally, even Nepa sef doesn't look at what you have or don't have before they bring their humongous bill.

How much would you want to pay? How much is Nepa bringing as bill to the compound, what percentage of that bill is the 1k you are paying.

Sorry if Nepa doesn't care and still bring bills why do you think your landlord should. Landlord is not the one generating bill naa, it's the system.

Shared prepaid is even worse except you guys understand each other well and everybody using it is honest.
My annoyance is that, the landlord is using only the tenants to settle nepa bills without him contributing cuz apart from me who does not consume much of the power with two of my co-tenants rather it's my landlord's children who consumed more cuz they'll be watching movies from morning till night and making noise in the compound in the name of playing music.

Not right and if you don't stand your ground, you will end up paying.

I once stayed in a self contain that has six flats plus the landlord 3 bedroom flat. And a big shop where they were doing view center. Because I was the only tenant at that time, when the bill came, the younger brother was like, we share it into 2. And I was like, for where?
I told the guy to divide the bill with the number of flats there and give me my own. After a long dragging, we settle for 1/3. I paid one, they pay the remaining 2.
In this life, no just dull yourself, if not, you will be taken for a fool.
You no fight for your right o

You are to make it equal

My landlord installed meter for every flat... I believe that's the best
Certainly the best option especially prepaid meters because as much as you have an exploitative landlord. There are also some dubious tenants who might want to accumulate bills and then runoff.

It’s absolutely not right. I see no fairness there. This is why I need to have separate meters for my tenants before I start renting. I hope I can get help for 9 meters in Benin City here. There are 8 flats but I want to connect the borehole, security post, rental office and fence wall lights to my own apartment so the tenants will have less worries with electric bills.
The questions I have for you are:
Have you discussed this with your landlord?
Have you tried to ask for a separate meter?
Do you have a lease or signed one?

U share nepa bill base on use and landlords or tenants

If u have more applications than your landlord u pay more and vice versa

Yes! You have said it rightly...

I will Just advice, you go for prepaid meter or advice the landlord to buy for your flat... you can buy it... then, he pays during rent payment.

What concerns landlord if you do not own iron, bla bla. You have an apartnent and there is an associated electricity cost with it. Nobody cares if you sleep on on the floor or cook with firewood there to oreserve electricity. Because you will not go back to him to review the cost of electricity if you buy tv or buy radio. All these paupers on nairaland sef. Tufia!

My own landlord does not even pay electricity bill. He sees it as abnormal since he's the late landlord son.
We first fought him over it but considering how temperament he is. We had to leave him to his own.

If u fight landlord, na u go pack, whether you are guilty or not.

The bolded is outright evil. He is supposed to pay part of the bills.

Nonsense rule. How many nice rental apartments actually have prepaid meters? Some of you just generate wild imaginations and call it rule. grin

Your best solution is to work hard and get your own appliances too. No quarrel. But ensure you stay low with what you got.

The moment he knows you got those appliances,he will increase your own and when you argue, you will be asked to pack out.

If its an estimated bill, yes you share equally because even if you don't use light at all, they will still bring bill.

Go and buy electronics if you know you are been cheated.

Re: Is It Good To Share Equal Amount Of Money For NEPA With Your Landlord? by Bussy23(m): 8:13pm On Feb 21, 2023
Nothing justifies the equal sharing formula but since this is Nigeria, there's really nothing anyone can do about the sharing whether you are staying there or away for a while, their resolve would be to give you a quit notice to leave their house. Nothing seems right in this part of the world, we have a long way to go.

Iam staying in a single room though it's tiled and spacious but this nepa bill of a thing is getting me pised up,how would i be paying 1k per month where i do not have Tv, fan or even the least thing like music box.. And the most annoying thing is that, all my landlord care is money..he doesn't want to know if am having difficulties in withdrawing money or not.
I prefer prepaid meter honestly.

You dey complain on top 1k electricity bill for one month. How much you want pay wey go make you happy?
